    OSS monitoring tool

    Summary

-OSS Self Monitoring provides the operator with an efficient way to monitorbasic hardware and Operation System metrics for OSS-RC and ENIQ servers.

-When the value of monitored metrics passes a configurable threshold, an

alert is generated in the monitoring tool and an alarm event

can optionally be sent to OSS-RC Fault Management. Provides:

› monitoring for OSS-RC and ENIQ servers from a single portal.

› alerts the user to potential problems, such as filesystems filling up, before the problem happens.

› flexibility on a range of metrics which can be monitored.› advanced alertin functionalit

    Cabinet Viewer(2)

The Cabinet Viewer provides the user with a tool to

easily pinpoint a hardware fault in the RBS causingtraffic disturbance. When the user receives anindication that the service in the radio network isdegraded, the Cabinet Viewer can be launched toquickly and easily identify the problem.

From the Cabinet Viewer the user can:

■Restart the RBS or a selectable object

■Lock or unlock a selectable object

■Run a Hardware test on a selectable object■Refresh RBS information

■Save details (about a faulty selectable object in a file)

    ■Save logs

    The NSA is used to:

Identify a problem with an RBS

Obtain data on cause of RBS service degration

Obtain RBS and RNC related status information

(including Iub link and RBS hardware status)

Take corrective action directly via NSA

Launch other UTRAN applications if required for

more advanced problem analysis and corrective

    action

Detailed information for UTRAN cells or channels is

displayed in a window at the bottom of the GUI

OSS Common Explorer displays the valid

configuration, that is, the current active radio network

configuration. Using the PCA view, the user may also

work with planned configurations that are models ofintended changes to the valid configuration. Planned

configurations are prepared with close reference to the

active network, but the changes are not made on the

network until such time as the user decides toimplement them, that is, to activate the planned

    configuration.

    Consistency Check (CC)(1)

The Consistency Check application is used to checkthat Network Elements in the Radio Access Network(RAN) have consistent data. If data is not consistentbetween Network Elements problems in the networkcan occur. Using the Consistency Check interface,Network Elements can be checked for consistency. This is done by applying checking Network Elementsconfiguration data using consistency 'rules'. Theresults of a consistency check can be displayed in a

report. The Consistency Check application is primarily used

in planned configurations to help ensure error-freeconfigurations. Consistency Check can be used in the

valid area also and is useful in troubleshooting thevalid confi uration.
