    Hello Rampagedev,

Thank you for this guide. I followed it until step 15 where myhack asked if I would like to install its extras or my own, butwhen I restarted my system it froze at the Verifying DMI Pool bootscreen.

I have tried various methods for the last 6 days in the hopes of finally installing Mountain Lion on my SL 10.6.6 system, which I had increasing trouble trying to update to 10.6.8 and therefore left my system at 10.6.6.

    My system specs. are:mobo: GA-X58A-UD3R rev 1.0 BIOS F6CPU: i7-920 2.66GHz LGA 1366GPU: XFX ATI Readon HD 5770RAM: 6GB (use only 4GB for installation)Audio: Realtek ALC889Ethernet: Realtek 8111D

Any suggestions or advice in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    hey rampage,

Ive been having a similar issue as Ed. When I try to do a normal install, it just hangs on the apple logo. Sodecided to boot verbose with the same commands -v npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No cpus=1. I was ableto get to the boot screen, but after I agreed to the terms it asks to choose which drive I would like osx to beinstalled. The only problem is, there are no drives to choose from. Its just empty. I checked the hard driveand I hear it running and my bios recognizes it. Could it still be a hard drive problem, or is it something else? Thanks much in advance!I am running i7 3820 CPUasus p9x79le moboevga geforce gt640 GPU16gb corsair vengeance RAM1 tb seagate barracude gpu

    rampagedev says:October 29, 2012 at 1:35 am

    You are skipping a step:

    1. Boot into the myHack installer usb drive to begin the installation process and go to Utilities/Disk Utilityto format your drive to Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) then proceed with the installation

    paul jaspr says:October 29, 2012 at 1:53 am

thanks for the prompt response. Im actually booting using unibeast thumb drive. I originally bootednormally using the usb drive but it just hangs on the logo I cant even get to disk utility

    rampagedev says:October 29, 2012 at 1:55 am

I recommend using myHack as per my guide You must boot with -v npci=0x2000 cpus=1 if this is a x79MB.

    paul jaspr says:October 29, 2012 at 2:34 am

As Ive mentioned before, I did input those commands, successfully got to the boot screen, agreed to theterms and agreements, but when it comes time to choose which drive I want osx to be installed on, the field isjust blank. My hard drive does not show up as an option, thus halting my installation process there. Thanksfor the inputs!

    rampagedev says:October 29, 2012 at 2:38 am

OK, I think I see were you and me are missing. You need to format your HDD or SSD. Did you format thedrive yet?

You said that you get to where you see where to select the HDD/SSD for install correct?

Just go up to utilities and then to Disk Utilities

    And the only solution was:-v npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No cpus=1

First, as always thanks for taking the time to do all of this!Reading these instructions, it is not clear to me when one is doing a clean install of mountain lion in which step does thecustom DSDT get used / installed? I havent tried doing any of this yet and thought I would research this a little bit before Ispend the time doing the upgrade

    Thanks, Richard.

    rampagedev says:September 3, 2012 at 12:32 am

If you are doing a upgrade then you do section 2. If you are not doing a upgrade you skip step 2.

Everything stays as it was before. DSDT is post install and has no place in a install guide.

So then after doing the above steps to get the install up with myHack then you are saying to just follow steps:6 through 13 of your guide here: https://rampagedev.wordpress.com/2012/06/30/all-asus-mainstream-x79-motherboards-dsdt-beta-for-nvidia-and-amdati-gpus/

You continuously are skipping steps both in the Instal Guide and the Read Me in the DMG folder. You need to followinstructions or other wise please go buy a real Mac. There is no other way of say that you need to follow the setinstructions!

OK successfully installed! It seems that my mistake was i didnt format during the installation process, but previouslyon macbook external hd dock.Audio network and usb3 doesnt work,usb2 works, now i will look for Apple USB 3.0 kext.

I didnt find the recovery folder in the hd root. Here are some pictures.

    thanks again for your hack.

Again you did not read and follow throught on set instructions. The only reason none of the things arelisted are not working is that you yet again did not follow set instrctions on the support page on my blogfor your motherboard. READ again the guide about the recovery folder since it is only present duringUpgrades.

Ah yes the last steps, not the last step!!! Ok thank you for your patienceNow i hope to understand about the motherboard issues.

Also read this because it clearly states what to boot with so you need to do a bit more reading because this is themost common boot issues with Hackintoshes and is very easy to find a fix for:

hello rampagedev!thanks to your great work, based on your docs and tools I successfull have setup a R4E board with ML. All usual stuff worksperfectly. donation was a honor.but there is another thing I need:I want to install 3 nvidias cards: GTX680, GTX670, Quadro4000every card of the 3 works perfectly, two of them work perfectly in any combination, but not three of them -> resulting inkernel panic shortly before the desktop should show up.so I am questioning if 2 graphic cards are the maximum possible or if you could give me a hint how to go on.the GTX680 + GTX670 should run headless just for cuda, the Quadro4000 for monitor/interface.thank you for your time,ji

With GE=YES i can get just grey screen. Not Install Grey but just whitish gray.

And if i will plug my 4870 Install screen rase up without any additional flags. So problem is in GTX somewhere.

Btw. One week before this 4gb card i get 2gb card for tests. And with that Asus 2GB 680 there was no problems to install MLand all was just fine. And now if i will put this new 4GB card that ML install wont boot also. Its stuck at [PCIConfiguration...] no matter what flag i will put.
