A Letter from the Pres ident

Welcome to Wilmington College!

We are especially glad that you are here and have

joined our community of learners for the next four

years of your educational journey. We are excited

to be in partnership with you as we work to pro-

vide a high quality liberal education with practical

application for your future career. Our goal is for

you to graduate as liberally educated professionals

ready to meet the challenges of our global society

in the 21st century. Through a varied curriculum

and an array of co-curricular activities, we will

help you learn and grow, both inside and outside

the classroom. While you are here, you’ll encoun-

ter a first-rate faculty and a caring staff who are

dedicated and devoted to delivering education and

providing services in a personal and supportive

manner. Wilmington College is definitely student-

centered!

We also be-

lieve in a val-

ues-based ed-

ucation. Wil-

mington is

not only con-

cerned about

your academ-

ic develop-

ment, but your moral and ethical growth as well.

The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) found-

ed Wilmington College in 1870, welcoming per-

sons of all faiths, races, and cultures. The College

remains commi1ed to the idea of inclusion and

continues to embrace other values rooted in Quak-

er practice such as consensus-based decision mak-

ing, humanitarian service, respect for all persons,

international awareness, peace, and social justice.

On the corporate seal of the College, the Latin

phrase “Non saltu sed multis gradibus” is included.

Translated, it means “Not by a leap, but by many

steps”. Your next four years at Wilmington Col-

lege will be a time of discovery, change and trans-

formation that will occur step-by-step. At the end

of your experience here, as you look back to the

first days you were on campus, you’ll come to real-

ize that you have made a great leap forward

through this series of intentional small steps.

I wish for you the greatest success as you begin this

journey of discovery at Wilmington College. We

are all glad you are here and look forward to help-

ing you to make a life, make a living and make a

difference.

Sincerely,

Jim Reynolds

Interim President
