A 40,000-pound steel ring, custom-manufactured by Peden Industries, Inc., to provide support for a 150-ton tower, was loaded aboard the M.V. GUDVOR at the Port of Houston recently for shipment to a major oil refinery in Aruba, Netherlands Antilles. The 29-foot diameter ring is the largest of its kind fabricated by Peden, which is a major supplier of refinery support and anchoring components. The transfer of the supporting components from Peden facilities to the dock was completed in five hours by two trucks with police escorts. Dalton Steamship Company and Peden’s steel service center export department coordinated the shipment. ! The largest tanker ever drydocked in the Port of Houston is shown hereat Todd Shipyards (Houston). The jumboized T-2 tanker is operated American Trading and Production Corporation of New York and its Houstonagent is C. J. Thibodeaux. The 572-foot long vessel was drydocked forroutine underwater repairs.

The S/S LAFAYETTE takes on drums of chemicals destined for Pakistanas part of a U.S. AID shipment at a Port of Houston wharf recently. Thechemicals came from the Chemagro Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri.W. R. Zanes & Company was the foreign freight forwarder and customsbroker. The M/V INCA ROCA was diverted to Houston last month to take on some 490 tons of milk mealfor victims of the recent disastrous earthquakes in Peru. Here a small part of the shipment is shownbeing loaded at Port of Houston wharves aboard the Companla Peruana De Vapores (Peruvian StateLine) vessel, due to reach the stricken country in early July. The supplies were given by the SalvationArmy, National Cathelic World Conference, Seventh Day Adventists and Church World Services’organizations. The Peruvian line provided free transportation. Houston agents for the Peruvian mari-time firm is the J. M. Cook Company.
