Chapter 1 Have you ever heard of the oregon trail, the oregon trail started in 1803, Thomas jefferson made the louisiana purchase from napoleon bonaparte for 15 million $ he doubled the size of the U.S over night !!! He sent Meriwether Lewis and Capt. William Clark to explore the new land they were not sure what to expect so they brought a lot of paper along with food. There were over 40 men on the expedition. Lewis and Clark and the corps of discovery turned around in 1806. Jefferson's instructions to lewis and clark were to find a water route to the pacific ocean. He also told them to keep extensive journals of what they found on the way. They met 7 native tribes and traded to keep the peace. They left in may 14th 1804. On Nov. 7th 1805 they reached the pacific ocean. The pioneers started moving west when lewis and clark said it was safe and the indian tribes are safe.

Chapter 2 The size of the territory was mississippi to the rockie mountains. The corps of discovery had over 30 men along with sacajawea and her child Jean Baptiste Charbonneau along with lewis and clark. The oregon trail is a famous trail because pioneers traveled west to explore the new land to build there new homes and have a better life in the planes. Some families brought 2 to 3 wagons at a time to carry belongings. They made horse fur mockensons and ox shoes. they took a supply of flour bacon eggs and beans usually if you would die there are other diseases one of the diseases is called malaria. There were also fur trappers along with french traders. The impact of the oregon trail is when the pioneers were starting to move west to the new territory to have a better life and a better experience the journey was sad, hard and rough. The pioneers cut trees and make ground homes.

Chapter 3 The impact of the oregon trail is when started to travel west. when they traveled west it was called the westward expansion ! The journey was longer than 2,000 miles and it required some

food like bacon, beans, corn, fish, damp sugar and flower. Some families took 2­3 wagons at a time. The oregon trail is one the most famous trails of all time ! Thank you for reading my report ;)
