Zwei herausragende Ereignisse imHerbst 2016 haben das enorme Potenzi-al unseres Unternehmens einer breitenÖffentlichkeit aufgezeigt.

Eine Analyse des renommierten Bankhauses Hauck &Aufhäuser betrachtet zum ersten Mal unser automobi-les Geschäft in den Bereichen Sensoren, Akustik,Cockpit und Karosserie-Kinematik losgelöst von denPerspektiven im Bereich der Elektromobilität. Für dasklassische Automobilsegment allein sehen die Analys-ten eine Bewertung von etwa 32,00 Euro. Die Elektro-mobilität wird separat betrachtet mit 43,50 Euro be-wertet. Der Analyst schließt daraus zusammengesetzt(„sum of the parts“) auf einen fairen Wert von satten75,50 Euro. Es gibt also offenbar noch viel Luft nachoben für unsere Aktie!

Das sehen offenbar auch die institutionellen Inves-toren aus Deutschland, Frankreich, Spanien, Groß-britannien und Finnland so, die im Rahmen einer Plat-zierung einer zehnprozentigen Kapitalerhöhung neueparagon-Aktien zeichneten. Im Handumdrehen wardie Emission dreieinhalbfach überzeichnet! Durch denEmissionserlös von über 13 Mio. Euro stärken wirnachhaltig unsere solide Bilanzstruktur und legendie Basis für die Fortsetzung unseres dynamischenWachstumskurses vor allem im Geschäftsfeld Elektro-mobilität. Ich selbst habe mich mit einem Betrag vonfast vier Mio. Euro an der Kapitalerhöhung beteiligtund halte weiterhin die Stimmenmehrheit.

Die Aussichten von paragon in den einzelnen Märktensind unverändert sehr positiv. Durch die deutlich ge-steigerte Finanzkraft können wir mit großer Zuversicht,aber auch Ruhe in die Zukunft blicken!

Two outstanding events in the autumn of2016 have demonstrated the enormouspotential of our company to a widerpublic.

An analysis carried out by the renowned bank Hauck &Aufhäuser took into account, for the first time, our auto-motive business and its activities in the areas of sensors,acoustics, cockpit and body kinematics, as opposed tothose that relate to the field of electro mobility. Asregards the conventional vehicle segment in isolation,the analysts have set a share value of about € 32.Electro mobility is considered separately, with a value of€43.50. The analyst therefore largely concludes that the“sum of the parts“ quide to a fair value for paragon'sshares is a nice round €75.50. There is thus still plentyof room for our shares to increase in value.

This opinion is clearly shared by institutional investorsfrom Germany, France, Spain, the UK and Finland in thecontext of the placement of a 10 % increase in capital innew paragon shares. The issue was oversubscribed by afactor of 3 1/2 just after its announcement. Thanks toissue revenues of over €13 million, we are strengtheningour sustainably solid balance sheet structure and layingthe foundations for a continuation of our dynamicgrowth, especially in the electro mobility business. I havepersonally subscribed to almost €4 million of thiscapital increase and continue to hold the majority ofvoting shares.

Mit einer gezielten Investition in neue Infrastrukturund Produktionsanlagen hat paragon den Firmensitzin Delbrück gestärkt. Neben einer Erweiterungs-fläche für die Voltabox Batteriesysteme ist auch dieKarosserie-Kinematik in die vergrößerte Halle an derArtegastraße eingezogen. Das zentrale Ziel ist einoptimaler Wertstrom vom Wareneingang bis zumVersand. Hinzu kommen zusätzliche Arbeitsplätze imEntwicklungszentrum.

Kurze Wege werden bei paragon groß geschrieben.Durch das erweiterte Bürogebäude liegt die Entwicklungfür die Spoilersysteme – wie zuvor schon die der Elek-tromobilität – jetzt ganz nah an der Produktion. Die Ent-wicklungskapazität für die Batteriesysteme hat paragonebenfalls in dem erforderlichen Umfang erweitert.

Musterbau, Versuchsabteilung und Validierung für dieKarosserie-Kinematik wurden nah an Produktion undEntwicklung angeordnet.

With a targeted investment in new infrastructure andproduction facilities, paragon has fortified its headquar-ters in Delbrück. Alongside an expansion in the area ofVoltabox battery systems, our activities relating to bodykinematics now occupy larger facilities on the Artega-strasse. The central objective is to optimise the valuestream from goods receipt right up to final despatch.Additional jobs are also to be created in our develop-ment centre.

paragon sets great store by useful shortcuts. Thanksto the extended office building, developments relatingto spoiler systems now take place – as previously withelectric mobility – very close to the production line.paragon has likewise expanded its battery-systemdevelopment capacity to the extent required.

Sample construction, the involvement of the testing depart-ment and validation for vehicle body kinematics were con-ducted in close parallel with production and development.

Ab sofort können alle Motorrad-Fahrer währendihrer Tour das Smartphone laden, navigieren unddabei online bleiben. Mit einem robusten Smart-phone Cradle, das paragon für einen renommiertenMotorrad-Hersteller entwickelt hat, sind diese be-liebten Funktionen kein Problem. Das staub-, was-serdichte und erschütterungsgeschützte Kunststoff-Hardcase ist eine Weltneuheit und eignet sich fürDisplaygrößen von bis zu fünf Zoll.

Das paragon-Produkt ermöglicht das Laden einesSmartphones über Micro-USB oder kabellos per Wire-less Charging nach dem sogenannten Qi-Standard. Deraktuelle Ladestatus wird durch eine Ladeanzeige signa-lisiert. Die Stromversorgung des Smartphone Cradleserfolgt über eine spezifische Motorradschnittstelle.

Damit die Fahrer das Display und die Navigation opti-mal im Blick haben, ist das Cradle mit einem Sichtfens-ter aus entspiegelter Flex-Folie versehen und kann zurNutzung im Quer- oder Hochformat um 90 Grad ge-dreht werden. This rugged smartphone cradle, whichparagon has developed for a renowned motorcyclemanufacturer, supplies these highly desired features ina trouble-free manner. Protected by a tough plasticcase, which is resistant to dust, moisture and vibration,this world-first device comes with a display size of up to5 inches.

This paragon product allows a smartphone to becharged via Micro-USB or wireless charging based onthe Qi-Standard. A readout displays the current level ofcharge. The smartphone cradle is powered via a specificmotorcycle interface.

The cradle is equipped with an anti-glare, flex foil coatedscreen to optimise the rider’s view and navigation. It canalso be flipped into landscape or portrait format, androtated through 90 degrees. What’s more important,the touch-screen remains visible at all times, and can alsobe operated when wearing motorcycle gloves.

Mit einem aktiven Aerodynamik-Profil revolutioniertder Mercedes-AMG GTR 2016 die Sportwagen-Szene. Durch verschiedene Elemente hat der Her-steller den c/w-Wert optimiert. Dazu trägt eine be-sondere Bugwelle bei, die paragon produziert. DiesesKarbonelement senkt sich bei einer Geschwindigkeitab 80 km/h automatisch ab. Die gesamte Bugwellewiegt nur sieben Kilogramm, die von paragon ent-wickelte Antriebseinheit lediglich zwei Kilogramm.

Dieses vollkommen neue Produkt ist im vorderen Be-reich des Unterbodens angebracht und reduziert denAuftrieb auf den Vorderachsen um bemerkenswerte50 Prozent bei maximaler Fahrgeschwindigkeit. Auchdadurch reagiert der GTR der neuesten Generationbeim Einlenken im oberen Geschwindigkeitsbereichdeutlich agiler und bleibt aufgrund der Auftriebsbalan-ce trotzdem leicht beherrschbar.

Bei der Entwicklung der Bugwelle zeigte paragon seinevolle Leistungsfähigkeit in der Karosserie-Kinematik.Von der Idee bis zur Serienfertigung, die im Januar2017 beginnt, verging kaum ein Jahr. The Mercedes-AMG GTR is revolutionising the world ofsports car in 2016 with an active aerodynamic profile.The manufacturer has used various factors to optimiseits c/w value. One of these is a special bow wave element,which is being produced by paragon. This carbon fibrecomponent is lowered automatically whenever the vehi-cle reaches a speed of 50 mph/80 kph. The entire bowwave weighs only seven kilos, of which just two kilos areaccounted for by paragon's drive unit in this respect.

This completely new product, which is housed at the bot-tom of the front sill, reduces the amount of lift on the frontaxle by a remarkable 50% at maximum speed. The high-speed steering response of the latest generation of GTR isalso significantly more agile, while remaining easy to tame,thanks to its drive balance control.

paragon has demonstrated its full range of skills andperformance in body kinematics in the development ofthis bow wave element. Hardly a year has passedbetween initial idea and serial production, which is set tobegin in January 2017. paragon is meanwhile busy with aprogramme of five further product launches, in additionto this completely new product. These include a gearedmotor and four spoiler drives.

Mit Riesenschritten geht paragon in China voran.Knapp ein Jahr nach der Eröffnung einer eigenenProduktionsstätte in Kunshan hat die chinesischeTochtergesellschaft von paragon gleich vier neueAufträge auf einen Schlag eingefahren. Damit konntesich das Unternehmen auch als Partner vonChang´an, GAC, Volvo und Geely außergewöhnlichschnell etablieren.

paragon is progressing with giant steps in China. Justa year after the inauguration of its own productionfacility in Kunshan, paragon’s Chinese subsidiary haswon four new orders at once. These have allowedthe company to establish itself extremely quickly asa partner of Chang´an, GAC, Volvo and Geely respec-tively.

paragon’s Chinese presence is marked above all by itsworld-market-leading AQS air quality sensor, which hasgreat market potential in East Asia thanks to the levelsof air pollution in the large cities of this region. paragonis therefore set to welcome further customers verysoon.

With annual vehicle sales of more than a million units,Chongqing-based Chang'an counts as a big player in thesector. It is currently involved in joint ventures withFord, Suzuki and PSA Peugeot Citroen. Cooperationwith Toyota, Honda and Fiat allows GAC, which isbased in Guangzhou, to manufacture 200,000 cars ayear. Erfreulich große Resonanz in der Belegschaft findetdas Angebot für Massagen am Arbeitsplatz, das seitfast zwei Jahren in der Zentrale in Delbrück besteht.Ein- bis zweimal wöchentlich steht ein Physiotherapeutder namhaften Praxis Foerster aus Bielefeld zur Ver-fügung. Zahlreiche Mitarbeiter nutzen die Massageregelmäßig, wobei das Unternehmen 50 Prozent derKosten trägt. Der Therapeut gibt bei den Behandlun-gen auch arbeitsplatzergonomische Tipps. Kürzlich hatzudem eine gesundheitsorientierte Arbeitsplatzunter-suchung stattgefunden, erste Maßnahmen zur Opti-mierung peilt das Unternehmen für das Jahr 2017 an.

The offer of massages in situ for the workforce has beencreating a gratifyingly positive response ever since the in-itiative was first launched at the company’s main Delbrücksite in Germany almost two years ago. A physiotherapistfrom the well-known Foerster practice in Bielefeld is onhand up to twice a week. Many employees make regularuse of this massage service, for which the company meets50% of the cost. The therapist supplying the treatmentsalso provides ergonomic tips for application in the work-place. A health-oriented investigation into the state of theworkplace was carried out recently, and the company isaiming to implement initial optimisation measures in2017.

Das täglicheAngebot beinhaltet immer ein Essen inklusive Getränkund weitere Gerichte, darunter stets ein vegetarischesMenü. Mittlerweile hat sich der „Genusspunkt“ zumabteilungs-übergreifenden Treffpunkt der paragon-Mitarbeiter entwickelt, sodass hier auch außerdienstli-che Zusammenkünfte stattfinden.

The new Genusspunkt (which roughly translates as“gourmet place”) restaurant was inaugurated at our mainsite in Delbrück (Germany) in summer 2016. The restau-rant offers a regular menu for outside guests, and alsofreshly cooked meals for paragon employees, varying on aweekly basis and at extra-low prices. The daily selectionalways includes a hot meal with beverage, along with ot-her dishes and a permanently available vegetarian menu.The Genusspunkt has meanwhile turned itself into a cross-department meeting place for paragon employees anda venue for after-hours encounters.

Innerhalb kürzester Zeit hat die Voltabox of Texas,Inc., eine hundertprozentige Tochtergesellschaft vonparagon mit Sitz in Texas, sehr große Projekte in denUSA akquiriert. Daher ist der Aufbau eines eigenenEntwicklungsteams vor Ort für einen optimalen Kun-denservice sehr wichtig. Vier junge Ingenieure ausDeutschland unterstützen diesen Prozess.

Oberstes Ziel derMaßnahme ist es,technisch versier-te Ansprechpart-ner in Texas zu ha-ben, die bereits dieVoltabox-Philoso-phie verinnerlichthaben. So könnendie Entwickler inden USA den Kun-den bei System-auslegungen, Ap-plikationen undindividuellen An-wendungen un-mittelbar zur Ver-fügung stehen.

Projektmanager Joey Tappe, Hardware-Entwickler TimSchlinkmann, Konstrukteur Andre Petry und Appli-kationsingenieur Christopher Bern werden neben derlaufenden Auftragsarbeit auch die neuen Kollegen inden USA schulen. Durch den zwölfmonatigen Auf-enthalt werden sie ihren Erfahrungsschatz deutlich er-weitern.

Voltabox of Texas, Inc., a wholly owned, Texas-basedsubsidiary of paragon, has managed in an extremelyshort time to win a large series of major projects in theUnited States. The establishing of its own local develop-ment team for the purposes of optimum customer ser-vice is therefore very important. Four young engineersfrom Germany are assisting the process.

The main objectiveof this initiative isto have technicallycompetent contactpersons in Texaswho are fully con-versant with thecorporate philoso-phy of Voltabox.Our developmentexperts in the Uni-ted States will the-refore immediatelybe available to cus-tomers in the areasof system design,applications and in-dividual initiatives.

Project manager Joey Tappe, hardware developer TimSchlinkmann, design engineer Andre Petry and applicationsengineer Christopher Bern will be helping to train their newcolleagues in the United States, in addition to their usualwork on ongoing orders. The corresponding twelve-monthstay will also allow them to expand their experience consi-derably.
