TESTS SCH13119007505HBF00

subject to technological modifications / advances 18

Tests The working platform underlies, according to the jurisdictional conditions of the inset country, regular tests. According to § 3 article 3 of the regulations of industrial safety it is the obligation of the entrepreneur to ascertain the kind, scale and terms of tests of the work equipment. Safety defects should be systematically identified and removed at these tests. ( abridgement from BGG 945 part 2 „Tests on responsibility of the operator“)

Further the entrepreneur arranges the requirements the authorized persons have to meet. (Qualified persons „regulation of industrial safety“ § 2 (7)).

According to current view it is assumed that the tasks of the qualified persons for the given below tests were taken by the there named persons. Kind, scale and terms of the tests are previous practice and are up to the rules of technique. It is the obligation of the entrepreneur to meet the tests. The user who is in charge of the liability (for example in case of a leasing) has to make sure that the inspections and tests will be carried out (see test and inspect log book) and that the machine is in an operable condition.

Regular Tests Regular tests have to be done every 12 months. These tests have to be done by a technical expert.

The regular test is basically a visible and functional test and comprised the test of status of the components and constructions, completeness and effectivity of the safety devices and completeness of the test and inspect logbook. The time of the next test is given on top of the working platform.

Fundamentally is that the working platform, if used seldom, undergoes a daily visibility control, with which it is available for use.

The appointment would be, e.g. August 2018

Surveyors of the technical control (i.e. technical control association, Dekra, also the employment protection office in Hamburg, and the technical control offices in Hessen),

skilled engineers of the manufacturers,

skilled engineers of the operators,

free-lance skilled engineers.

The scale of extraordinary test based upon kind and scale of change of the construction or repair (see chapter. 7.1.1.6 EN 280).

The exchange of parts as well as the test results must be recorded in the inspect and test logbook.

Changes at the control mode as well as changes at parts of the working platform, which defy the control of the manufacturer “PB Lifttechnik GmbH” are not permissible.

FEATURES AERIAL WORK PLATFORM SCH13119007505HBF00

subject to technological modifications / advances 27

Features aerial work platform

Hydraulic The movements of the working platform are hydraulically operated. The hydraulic power unit conveys the therefore required oil volume. Except for the platform extension all movements driving, lifting and lowering can be operated proportional in their speed. In case of failure the hand-operated emergency pump enabled the lowering of the lift system. The RPM-regulated inverse-speed motor with 8 kW activates a geared pump, which conveys the required oil volume for steering, lift system and driving motors. The aggregate conveys the required oil volume for the steering, the lift system and the driving motors.

The dual-processor control provides for that the oil will be allocated to the respective 4/3 direction control valves of the different purviews.

A current regulating valve between the right and the left front wheel provides for a differential lock at the front axle. The lock effect is 100 %.

There is a negative multiple disc brake integrated inside the driving motors with wheel hub gear that opens up at a pressure of 20 bar.

Lifting – Lowering

Lifting of the aerial work platform occurs through a double-action differential cylinder, which is secured by a load holding valve. Lowering will be proportional lead in and controlled by the joystick. It is effected through the gross vehicle weight of the working platform. Additionally an emergency lowering can be done by pressing the switch on the ground operation.

Driving

Driving occurs by hydraulic wheel hub gears (with overload safety device in both driving directions) with integrated negative multiple disc brake. The actuation is situated in the steering wheels.

While driving with power gear the driving wheels can be locked to each other by pressing the locking button.

Steering Steering occurs by a double action differential cylinder, which enabled a maximum angle of turn of 88 degrees.

Electronics

The machine is using a dual processor control proportionally controlled with security.

The power supply occurs by batteries, see the technical datas.

Inclines resp. ramps have to be driven with power gear by pressed locking button!

Warning

From a certain inclination of the chassis, the drive wheels are automatically locked hydraulically to one another!

Ground operation electrical For activating the ground operation the turn-switch has to be thrown from „platform“ to „ground“. Operating the lift system with this control panel can only be done in case of an emergency and after consulting the operator on the platform, but only with reduced speed. Therefore the sidewise pushbutton and the respective button on the keypad have to be pressed. Machine parameters, motor operating time, operating time and service information can be recalled respectively set as well. (For this a dongle is essential).

Operating the working platform from the bottom should be acted with caution. There must be enough safety distance between the working platform and stationary obstacles.

Keep away hands and extremities from the scissor system! - crushing danger!

Keep away your feet from the safety system (pothole protection) – crushing danger!

Key switch at the control panel The key-/main switch centrally turns all functions of the working platform on and off. Is the key engaged in Position 0 the main- and control circuit is interrupted and any functions are disabled. Only in this position the pulling out of the key is possible. In order to operate the machine the key has to be engaged in Position 1. It is the purpose of the key to avoid unauthorized practice. For that reason please pull out the key when leaving the aerial work platform and store the key at a safe place.

Only if the key switch is engaged in “0” the control mode is turned off and the electric current environment is interrupted. This inhibits an unnecessary stress of the batteries.

In fact the aerial work platform is equipped with deep discharge protection, this means that the control switches off while operating when a certain minimum voltage has been reached.

If the machine will be left with activated control mode, this deep discharge protection is ineffective.

Start button

Yearly maintenance Aerial work platforms are to be tested by a technical expert after the first commissioning at intervals of not exceeding one year. (Subject to BGR 500 part 1 chapter. 2.10 article 2.9.1 and accordingly BGG 945 (5.4.1).

During operating deviations of the safety level, which had existed at the first commissioning are possible.

The operator has to make the necessary arrangements to maintain the safety level.

Variations can be caused by for example wear, corrosion, violence, alteration of environment, changing of occupancy. Quod vide guideline 89/655/EWG from 30th November 1989 about minimum regulations for safety and health protection at using work equipment by employees at work. (Put into national legalization by the Arbeitsmittelbenutzungsverordnung – AMBV).

At the recurrent test ascertained deficiencies are to be removed according to their safety importance in an adequate timeframe. The working platform has to be prepared for the test and if necessary cleaned so that the test can be duly done. The regular test is primarily a visual and functional test. The regular test shall extend to:

condition of the devices and equipment also to assess if modifications were made,

completeness and effectiveness of the safety devices ,

completeness of the inspect and test log book.

If a sufficient appraisal through this is not possible more test are to be made, for example nondestructive tests of material and welding seams. If necessary a disassembling has to be made.

We are for your disposal for the yearly maintenance of your aerial work platform.

subject to technological modifications / advances 65

Only original spare parts shall be used. If not, or if the aforementioned workings done by untrained people the warranty will be void and the manufacturer is released from his liability.

Do not change anything at the structure of the working platform. Changes are only authorized in case agreed by the manufacturer and need to undergo further acceptance inspection.

Any exchange of parts need to be noted within the inspect and test log book.

Changes in the control, whether hydraulic or electric, are only allowed if authorized by the manufacturer (i.e. cabling, hoisting, piping ...).

Changes of the reference values, whether hydraulic or electric are only allowed if authorized by the manufacturer (i.e. pressures, speeds ...).

Line connection from the aggregate to the machine should be vibration-free passed without knee or pinch point. The line cross-section has to be adapted to the line length, in doing so the shortest path has to be favored. The used lines and armatures have to be up to the respective pressure level. The pipelines may only be screwed or attached free of stresses. Please note that pipelines expand by thermal fluctuation.

One has to observe utmost cleanliness at each working. The pipelines are to be cleaned from dirt, scales, sand, and so on. Cotton waste may not be used for cleaning. It is advisable to rinse the line system thorough after assembly. Remove sealing plugs at the connectors only directly before connecting the corresponding pipeline. This is conductive to keep the hydraulic unit cleanly.

The hydraulic unit should be filled in with the prescribed hydraulic fluid. The correct hydraulic fluid particularly its viscosity is important for its trouble-free operation. Use hydraulic oil on mineral oil base unless otherwise specified. After consultation biodegradable hydraulic oils can be used, too. Check the hydraulic fluid on ingress of water. The basic pollution of the filled in hydraulic fluid may not exceed class 10 according to NAS 1638. Experiences have shown that new fluids already often exceed this value. In that case please use a filler apparatus with a filter mesh of maximum 10 micron. Check the fluid level in the oil tank permanently during the fill-up process.

Fill pistons and control pumps at the overflow oil line connection before the first starting.

The electrical wiring has to be up to the corresponding VDE-terms and is only to be made by an authorized technician.

Take notice at the electrical circuit points of the voltage and frequency specifications at the electrical units.

Maintenance of the hydraulic unit

Start the hydraulic unit

Take care that the hydraulic unit can start reliable and that there are no people in the danger zone.

Start the power unit at unpressurized circulation generally at first commissioning. If there is no valve for unpressurized circulation existent connect the pressure line with the return pipe directly behind the pump.

Start the drive motor shortly at inching operation and check the rotating direction (rotation arrow at the motor). If the pump run more than a few seconds to the false direction that will lead to serious damages due to dry run.

Make an unpressurized run for at least 10 minutes. Then make every movement in manual operation and check the several functions. Pay attention to possible mechanical collision.

Bleed the power unit at the supply pipe preferably at the highest point by opening the screwing.

Activate the directional valve and extend and retract the supplier several times. Ventilation is ensured if there is no foam inside the tank, no jerky movements at the supplier and no abnormal sounds occur. Check the fluid level after ventilation and replenish as necessary.

Inspect the line connections for leaks and retightening as necessary.

The maximum oil temperature must not exceed 80 degrees as accelerated oil ageing occur with increasing operating temperature.

Hydraulic oil level

Check the fluid level in the oil tank at regular intervals.

The oil level should be in the middle between the black and the red line.

In order to replenish oil the blind plug from the hand pump has to be unscrewed (see picture) to refill hydraulic oil HLP-22 (ISO VG 22). The scissor system has to be completely retracted.

One tankful is about 30 l.

If the first fuel-filling was made with biodegradable oil you must use for refill hydraulic oil PANOLIN HLP SYNTH 22.

Change pressure liquid

After commissioning the hydraulic oil should be spring-cleaned with a filter station. For not laboratory checked hydraulic oil an oil change is necessary all 2000 to 4000 operating hours.

An oil temperature of maximum 70° and a regular oil filter change is a precondition. Use hydraulic oil HLP-22 (ISO VG 22) rather. biodegradable oil PANOLIN HLP SYNTH 22 The PANOLIN HLP SYNTH can remain in use for .22000 operating hours

Hoses and hose lines Replace hose lines by original spare parts if the following criteria apply:

Damage of the outer layer to the intermediate layer (as chafe marks, rifts, cuttings);

Embitterment of the outer layer (fissuring of the hose material);

Deformations which do not correspond to the natural mold of the hose or hose line both unpressurized and pressurized state or at bending for example layer abscission, vesication;

leakages;

damage or deformations of the hose fitting (sealing function affected);

the hose discharges from the fitting;

corrosion of the fitting, that lessened function and stability;

demands on assembly have been ignored.

If time of storage and/or time of usage of the hose or the hose line are exceeded. If the user has not details about the time of storage and time of usage, the standard values according to DIN 20066:2002-10 chapter: 14.1.2 are recommended.

Reparing of the hose line using the inserted hose and / or the inserted fitting is not permissible.

Filter change Change the filter elements (if existent) directly after the first commissioning. Further filter changes have to be made monthly to half-yearly depending on operating conditions.

Filter with clogging indicator have to be checked daily if the operating temperature is reached. During the warm up an error message is possible since the flow resistance can be still raised.

The breather cannot be checked and therefore has to be changed yearly.

Outer leakage Screw connections can be loosen by operating vibrations and should be checked at regular intervals.

Particularly within the first 20 operating hours screw connections have to be checked currently and retightened as necessary.

Screw connections may only be retightened at unpressurized hydraulic unit. Damaged pipes and hoses have to be replaced immediately.

Settings Pressure valves, flow-control valves, pump controls as well as signal links like press switches, limit switches, temperature regulators and so on will be preset at the first commissioning. Initially this values have to be checked frequently afterwards at periodic intervals.

Fault finding A successful faultfinding presupposes an exact knowledge of configuration and mode of operation of the hydraulic plant.

Particularly at electro-hydraulic controls the coaction of electric and hydraulic will make the fault finding difficult and presuppose a high degree of knowledge and experience.

Functional diagrams, circuit diagrams and appropriate measuring instruments are a pre-condition for a successful faultfinding. After solving the real defect it is necessary to clear the basic cause of the defect.

Fault clearance Please do not hesitate to contact us, if you need our assistance in fault clearance or for the yearly regular test at your aerial work platform.

The Batteries

The electrical power supply takes place with 24 solitary cells according to IEC 254-2 each with 2 V battery voltage. There will be a capacity of 625 Ah at an operating voltage of 48 V at 5 hours discharge. It is about wet-cell-batteries, which were filled with acid.

It is important to wear protective clothing while working with batteries.

The accident prevention regulations and the DIN VDE 0510 T.1 need to receive attention.

Smoking is forbidden!

No open fire, glow or spark close to the batteries because of explosion risk and fire hazard.

For stability reasons do not use batteries that weigh less than the original equipment, refer to Technical Data. If used batteries stronger or with more weight, this must be considered in the overall weight of the machine.

If you get an acid splash in your eye or skin, it has to be rinsed, res. washed up with a lot of cold water. Immediately after that you have to go to a medical doctor. Clothes that were polluted with acid should be rinsed with water. Slopped acid inside the machine should be neutralized with sodium dicarbonate.

Explosion risk and fire hazard due to high explosive mixture of gases.

Leave the drawer with the batteries open during the charging.

Avoid short circuits – Deposit no tools on the batteries.

Do not open or destruct batteries. The released electrolyte is very dangerous for humans and environement (acid danger for eyes and skin, toxic). The electrolyte is hardly acidly.

See that the cable claps are fixed.

See that the battery terminals are clean. Do not tilt the batteries.

Use only permitted lifting and transport devices, according to VDI 3616. Lifting clamps must not cause damages at cells, connectors or connection cables.

Never put the batteries in domestic waste.

Defective Batteries have to be recycled according to environment.

Local recycling requirements have to be noted.

Acid level Once a week the batteries of the working platform have to be checked on their respective acid level (exception: maintenance free gel-batteries (optional). Make sure that the level is at all times in minimum 1 cm above the plates.

In case the acid level is too low, the same shall be tapped up with distilled water.

Never top up the acid level prior to recharging the battery. This may lead to overflowing of the battery during charging; the spilled acid could then badly damage the equipment.

Charging condition and battery control

Always take care of sufficiently charged batteries, since the aerial work platform will only work properly with enough charge. At an operating voltage of 33,6 V the operating mode “lifting” will be locked (this will protect the batteries against deep discharge).

If the operating voltage is lower than 33,6 V (under load for example when lifting) the control will cut off because of low voltage. If so, it is necessary to charge the batteries.

It is advisable to recharge partial discharged batteries, too, as the electronic battery charger adapts the charging current to the state of charge. Therefore overcharge is excluded (Take note of the battery charger’s manual.).

If the both lower bars are gleaming the batteries are 70 % discharged.

At a discharge of 80 % the both lower bars are blinking alternately and “lifting” will cut off by the control because of low voltage.

After recharging the batteries the aerial work platform can be operated again. battery control

Please charge empty batteries immediately! Attention

The charger can be attached permanent at the usual household-net. i

Charging batteries

The charging process is relatively simple:

Move the working platform near to a 230 V socket connect the same with an extension cord to the feeder socket at the heck of the chassis.

The batteries will be charged by a charger which adapts itself to the respective state of the batteries to ensure an optimal charging.

Kindly check after plugging in whether the battery charger has started charging.

(LEDs indicate the state of charge)

If this is not the case, check if the fuse is in position I.

Never top up the acid level prior to recharging the battery. This may lead to overflowing of the battery during charging.

Take note of the battery charger’s manual.

The 230V socket in which you plug the charger needs to be fused with a 16 A fuse.

Please check after insertion that the charger has began to load. You can check the state of charge by illuminated diodes.

In the case that during the operations of the lifting platform the charger was already plugged in the 230V (charging while working) the mains plug needs to be unplugged and plugged again.

Now the control mode of the battery charger is reset and the work platform can be fully loaded overnight.

Do not connect any more consumer load at a fuse protection of 16 ampere during the charging process; otherwise activating the fuse might interrupt the charging process.

Explosion risk due to high explosive hydrogen gas.

It is thus forbidden to manipulate with open flames or tools that might cause sparks within a range of 5 m.

Proper ventilation has to be ensured. Low-level battery acid may only be topped up by distillate water.

Always keep the batteries clean and neat. Spilled acid needs to be rinsed with lots of water.

The battery terminals shall be protected against pollution and need to be tight at all the time.

Avoid using a cable drum as an extension to the charging wire, since the charging current might be higher than the overload protection of the drum, which then might be activated.

i

Make sure that the socket, which is used for charging, does not apply an overvoltage. Furthermore the socket needs to be fused with a 16 Ampere fuse. i

Installation and safety instructions

Battery charger NG3 has been designed to provide safety and reliable. It is necessary to observe the following precautions in order to avoid damage to persons and to the battery charger:

• Read the installation instructions contained in this Manual carefully. For further information put the Manual in a proper place.

• Fix the battery charger to a stable surface through the appropriate holes inserted on the fixing flanges. In case of installation on a vehicle it is advisable to use antivibration supports.

• Preferably the charger should be installed in the vertical position with fans facing up. The horizontal installation is allowed. Never install in the vertical position with fans facing down.

• Ensure all ventilation ports are not obstructed, to avoid the overheating. Do not put the battery charger near heat sources. Make sure that free space around the battery charger is sufficient to provide adequate ventilation and an easy access to cables sockets.

• Protect the battery charger from ingress of water. Do not pour liquids inside the case.

• Verify that the available supply voltage corresponds to the voltage that is stated on the battery charger name plate. In case of doubt, consult a retailer or local Electric Supply Authority.

• For safety and electromagnetic compatibility, the battery charger has a 3-prong plug as a safety feature, and it will only fit into an earthed outlet. If you can not plug it in, chances are you have an older, non-earthed outlet; contact an electrician to have the outlet replaced. Do not use an adapter to defeat the earthing.

• To avoid damaging the power cord, do not put anything on it or place it where it will be walked on. If the cord becomes damaged or frayed, replace it immediately.

• If you are using an extension cord or power strip, make sure that the total of the amperes required by all the equipment on the extension is less than the extension’s rating.

• Disconnect the mains supply before connecting or disconnecting the links to the battery.

• To recharge Lead Acid batteries: WARNING: Explosive Gas – Avoid flames and sparks. The battery must be positioned in a correctly cooled place.

• Do not use to charge batteries installed on board of thermal engine cars.

• Avoid recharging of non-rechargeable batteries.

• Verify that the nominal voltage of the battery to be re-charged corresponds to the voltage stated on the battery charger name plate.

• Verify that the selected charging curve is suitable for the type of battery to be re-charged. In case of doubt, consult Your retailer. ZIVAN S.r.l. will not accept any responsibility in case of mistaken choice of the charging curve that may cause irreversible damage to the battery.

• In order to avoid voltage drop, thereby assuring 100% charge at the battery, the output cables must be as short as possible, and the diameter must be adequate for the output current.

• In the case of thermal compensation of the battery voltage, it is necessary to place the thermal sensor in the area of highest battery temperature.

• Do not try to service the battery charger yourself. Opening the cover may expose you to shocks or other hazards.

• If the battery charger does not work correctly or if it has been damaged, unplugged it immediately from the supply socket and from the battery socket and contact a retailer.

Operating principle

The battery charger considerably affects battery life and performances, which is the main part of every electric vehicle.

A non controlled traditional battery charger (rectifier) provides a simple direct AC/DC conversion.

Disadvantages of this solution are: • Low efficiency • Large physical size • Long charge times • Charge depends on changes in the mains supply (with

overcharge danger in the final charge phase) In modern battery chargers these disadvantages are solved with an indirect AC/DC conversion, by passing through an intermediate DC/DC conversion.

This is the usual method of operation for the SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supply) at high power. This solution gives a good performance for minimum costs and physical dimensions using switches more faster and powerful (modern technology).

The main advantages of this solution are: • High efficiency • Reduced dimensions • Short charge times • Charge independent from the changes of the mains supply • Electronic control that provides the desired charge curve

The advent of electrical problems (due to commutation) has imposed the introduction of adequate filtering to satisfy requirements of EMC 89/336/EEC directive for electromagnetic compatibility.

LED Bar Graph

The LED Bar Graph is an Option that shows a percentage indication of output current in comparison with its max. value

Battery A battery is characterised by two sizes: tension and capacity.

Tension: Each element has a nominal tension, which depends on the type of battery (no matter what size). In order to reach higher tension, many elements are connected in series, so creating a “BATTERY” of elements. The number of elements is calculated by dividing the nominal tension of the battery for the tension of each single element in the table:

Capacity: It is the quantity of electric charge that the batteries can supply to an external circuit before the tension decreases under the final limit value and it is obtained by multiplying the intensity of the discharging current I, expressed in ampere (A), for the discharging time t expressed in hours (h): C = I x t The traction battery capacity is normally referred to the discharging system of 5h: C5 = I x 5h. The capacity values that can be recharged by the battery chargers can be found in the description of the Charging Curve (this value is not present in the curves able to charge any capacity).

: This device is in conformity with the Low Voltage directive 73/23/EEC

and EMC directive 89/336/EEC and their further modifications.
