Today marks the end of the first trimester and students who are not in a music class will attend new elective classes beginning Monday. Additionally, 7th grade will also rotate to physical education class and 6th grade back to computers. New schedules were passed out in homerooms yesterday and can be found on PowerSchool at any time. Report cards will be posted to PowerSchool on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. If you do not have access to PowerSchool, please contact the main office at 616-669-7750, and we will assist you in setting up parent access. Some parents have wondered how to access their child's life skills information. Each teacher provides feedback to parents and students regarding preparedness, work ethic, and classroom behaviors. Life skill information is reported out in the grade section for each class. It is important to remember that these marks are not factored into the final grade, but reflect the efforts and actions we observe. Please see the screenshots below to find your child's life skills comments. As always please contact the teachers or office if you have any questions. Then sign up in the office for the National Geography Bee to be eligible. Open to all students in grades 6 - 8. Sign up BEFORE December 12th. The school’s bee will be Thursday, December 15th.

Renaissance News

Blue & Gold Level Members

On Friday December 16th, we will continue our monthly FROYO celebration sponsored by Orange Leaf FroYo in Grandville. Each Blue & Gold Level Renaissance member will receive a 3oz serving of FroYo to honor their work inside & outside the classroom. This will also include our new 6th graders from Tri 1! Cheers to you!

Gold Level MembersWith the month of December upon us, we want to welcome our new Businesses of the Month! SKI AND SNOWBOARD CLUB

Middle School Ski & Snowboarding Club: Students, siblings and parents interested in purchasing discount ski club cards to Bittersweet Ski Resort in Otsego, should pick up information in the office. These cards allow discounted rates on lift tickets and rentals. Middle School students will also be able to purchase a bus pass allowing for bus rides to Bittersweet. Bus trip dates are Monday, January 16, Tuesday,, January 24 Monday, February 13 and Monday, February 20. Registration is due December 9.

Elementary Ski and Snowboarding Club: The Hudsonville Ski and Board Club would like to invite students, siblings and parents of HPS Elementary Schools to purchase discount ski club cards to Bittersweet Ski Resort in Otsego. These cards allow discounted rates on lift tickets and rentals. Monday is the official HPS club day, and we invite you to bring the family to Bittersweet for some fun with other HPS families. Discount prices are also good everyday of the week after 3:30pm. Pick up information in the office. Registration due December 9.

SPORTS NEWS:

Winter 2 Sign-ups are now available in the cafeteria for Wrestling, Boys Swim & Dive, andGirls Basketball. Practices and or tryouts will begin some time the week of January 16th. More information from coaches will be coming soon.

Please make sure your son or daughter have a sports physical on file in the office PRIOR to the first day of tryouts/practices.

CHOIR NOTES:

Please mark your calendar for our winter choir concert on Monday, December 5 at 6:30 p.m. This will once again be at the Hudsonville Fine Arts Auditorium - Freshman Campus. Students will report to the orchestra room at 5:50 p.m. for warm ups and attendance. They are required to wear their black and white formal uniforms.

The seventh and eighth grade choirs will be singing the National Anthem at a Grand Rapids Drive game on Friday, December 16. The game will take place at the Delta Plex Arena at 7:00 p.m. Students will need to report to the arena lobby at 6:00 p.m. to get organized and warm up for the performance.
