Theme: “Everything is good in its season”

The aims: - to introduce and practice new vocabulary to describe seasons

- to develop oral speech of pupils using questions

- to develop thinking and imaginations

The equipment of the lesson: cards, textbook, posters and pictures of seasons

Lesson plan include the following points

I. Motivation – warm up – 5 min

II. Introducing the new vocabulary – 12 min

III. Doing exercises – 8 min

IV. Evolution – 15 min

V. Marking – 2 min

VI. Homework – 2 min

VII. Conclusion – 1 min

I. The beginning of the lesson

a) Greetings:

-Good morning!

-Who is on duty today?

-Who is absent?

-What season is it now?

-What is the weather like today?

b) Mark the register.

II. Introduce the lesson

Tell pupils that day will be learning about the seasons.

Before conversation, pre-teach vocabulary about seasons.

Phonetic drills

Autumn is yellow

Winter is white

II. Conversation questions

1) What is your favourite season?

2) Do you like snow?

3) Do you have snow in your country?

4) What season is it now?

5) What is the coldest season in your place?

6) In your opinion, which season is the most beautiful?

7) What time of year is the best weather where you live?

It is summer. It’s hot. It is autumn. It’s cool.

It is spring. It’s warm. It is winter. It’s white.

Now I’ll give you papers. You should write the words. I’ll divide pupils into 4

groups.

The 1st group is “Summer”

The 2nd group is “Autumn”

The 3rd group is “Spring”

The 4th group is “Winter”

Connected with seasons you will find in your team.

Winter: cold, January. February, December, snow, ski, sledge.

Summer: hot, June, July, August, sun, shine, swim, run.

Autumn: cool, September, October, November, rain, blow, wind.

Spring: warm, March, April, May, blow, green, grass, flower.

SPRING

March, April and May are spring months. In spring it is cold and warm. The

weather is fine. You can see flowers in the fields and trees are green.

SUMMER

June, July and August are summer months. It is hot and the days are fine in

summer. The days are long but the nights are short. The fields and trees are

green. The children don’t go to school in summer.

AUTUMN

September, October and November are the autumn months. In autumn it is

cool. The weather is bad. The gardens are yellow. There are many vegetables

in autumn.

WINTER

December, January and February are winter months. The weather is cold and

icy. The trees, gardens and fields are white with snow in winter.

Do the puzzles. Remember the words using in each season.

1. I can ski. I can skate. What season is it?

(It is winter).

2. I can run. I can swim. It is hot. What season is it?

(It is summer).

3. The school year begins. Schoolchildren can go to school. What season is it?

(It is autumn).

Find 13 weather words in the crossword. Can you find more?
