Welcome to the Ontario Early Years Centre: Brant - a place where

parents, grandparents, caregivers and children ages 0 to 6 years:

play and learn together and interact with other parents/caregivers

and children in the community

can get answers to questions

have opportunities to talk to early years professionals

All services and programs offered are free of charge.

The early years of your child’s life are an exciting time but can also be

a challenging time for parents and caregivers. At the OEYC adults can

learn about the benefits of early literacy, parenting, child development,

health, nutrition and accessing information on local community

agencies and services.

Opportunities for adult learning are done through a variety of ways:

one-to-one meetings, small group sessions, large group presentations,

one day workshops and through integrated services that include

community professionals in our programs in the areas of speech and

language, infant and preschool development and child & family health.

*Closed Saturdays of statutory holiday weekends and some special events throughout the year.

The Resource Library has many items available for loan. This

money saving service gives members the opportunity to access a

variety of materials for a low annual membership fee. To better

serve all of our members and create a lending resource that

compliments child development, we categorized all toys

(0-12 years) and resources according to age and developmental

area.

Loan Services

Members have access to numerous pieces of equipment. Members

can save money, and energy by producing quality work in less

time. Note: Material costs are extra and not included in

membership fee.

Resource Library

The Resource Library was created in response to the needs

identified by professionals, educators, caregivers and parents

within Brantford and the County of Brant. An annual membership

fee is required. The Resource Library (PRC) opened in 1994 on

King George Road and became part of the OEYC: Brant in 2002.

Membership options are:

Together Time - Together in the Magic of Play

Together Time is a play-based drop-in program where

parents/caregivers and their children ages 0-6 years come together

and play. The program promotes children’s development and

readiness to learn in a free-flow, safe, healthy and friendly

environment.

Together Time programs provide shared learning opportunities

where parents/caregivers with their children take part in play,

enjoy a nutritious snack and build healthy relationships.

By being interested and involved in your children’s play you

show them that learning is important. Come and spend time with

your children “Together in the Magic of Play” because you are

their first and most important teacher.

Drop-in programs are available in the morning, afternoon and on

Saturday’s. See eycbrant.ca/oeyc for current times and days.

Just Baby & Me

“Just Baby and Me” is a safe, stimulating, fun environment where

adults can interact with their babies under 12 months of age. This

is a drop-in program where parents/caregivers and the babies in

their care can stay and play. Join us for discussion, activities and

information sharing. Planned activities are posted at the locations

and in Your Guide Brant.

Best Start Early Learning and Parenting

Centres (BSELPC)

These Centres offer FREE interactive drop-in programs provided

by a variety of local agencies for all children 0-6 years and their

parents/caregivers. We are a service provider at some of the

BSELPC in Brantford and the County of Brant. For more

Cancellation Policy

Workshops will be cancelled if the minimum number of

participants is not reached. If it is a paid workshop, participants

will receive a refund, gift certificate or transfer to another

workshop. At any time, participants may transfer their

registration to another person not already registered (member /

non-member fees apply).

A participant may cancel their registration 14 days prior to the

date of the workshop for a full refund, gift certificate or transfer

to another workshop. After this time no reimbursements will be

given.

Employment Registry

Early learning and child care employment opportunities can

be posted on eycbrant.ca/ECE. Agencies can email their job

postings to [email protected].

For individuals looking for employment in the early learning

and child care field, we provide a listing of child care centres

and can offer supports for a successful search.

Career opportunities for current job openings are posted on

eycbrant.ca/ECE.

Resumes can be added to the supply staff registry available on

site (Hard copies delivered in person only accepted).

The OEYC: Brant Staff and the Early Literacy Specialist are

available to go into the community and facilitate workshops.

Are you leading a parenting group/children’s program?

Are there financial restrictions preventing you from gaining

new skills?

Is staff/volunteer time stretched to its limit?

Are you faced with ongoing training demands?

Outreach services can bring customized professional development

and supports to your site! Call the OEYC: Brant for your

outreach request. All outreach requests should be submitted two

months prior to the date.

Community Outreach and Events

The Ontario Early Years Centre: Brant offers a variety of

onsite workshops for educators and caregivers. Current

workshops are listed in our newsletter which is available in hard

copy form or online at www.eycbrant.ca/oeyc.

How do you register?

When payment is associated with a workshop, you are required to

register in person or by mail and payment must be received prior

to registration. Programs with approved billing can register by

phone. If there is no fee associated with a workshop, you can

register in person, by phone at 519-759-3833 or email

[email protected]. Note: email is not accepted on the

first day of registration. We cannot accept fax or voice mail

registrations. If the workshop is full, we will put you on a

cancellation list and refer to the list when space becomes

available. Please note the registration deadlines listed for each

workshop.

Parent & Child Workshops

The Ontario Early Years Centre: Brant provides early learning

and literacy programs for all children aged 0-6 years and

education for their parents and caregivers. All parent workshops /

parent and child workshops are free. Dates and times for

workshops currently being offered can be found in Your Guide

Brant. Your Guide Brant is available online at www.eycbrant.ca

or to receive a copy call the OEYC: Brant at 519-759-3833.

Registration for workshops is required. Register early to avoid

disappointment.

How do you register?

You can register in person, by phone at 519-759-3833 or email

[email protected]. Note: email is not accepted on the

first day of registration. We cannot accept fax or voice mail

registrations. If the workshop is full, we will put you on a

cancellation list and refer to the list when space becomes

available. Registration can only be made for yourself.

Attendance - Please make the commitment to attend or call us

with your cancellation so that someone else can benefit from the

experience. Please call as early as possible and preferably at least

24 hours before the session. If you do not attend the first session

in a series without making previous arrangements, your space will

be given to the next person on the cancellation list.

You have two options for giving us your feedback;

1. Complete an evaluation form after your workshop.

2. Send us an email at [email protected] .

Early Literacy

The Early Literacy Specialist offers resources and workshops

on-site and as an outreach to community groups. For more

information call the Early Literacy Specialist.

Transportation Support

Is the cost of transportation stopping you from coming to the

OEYC: Brant drop-in programs or workshops?

Thanks to local companies, individuals and fundraising initiatives

(such as collecting Zehrs receipts), we are able to provide

public transit for your family at no cost to participate in the

OEYC: Brant programs. Call for more information. Charitable

tax receipts are available for companies and individuals who

would like to make a donation towards the Transportation

Support Fund.

offers a variety of services and

supports to young children and their

families and caregivers. Whether

you are currently a resident of Brant

or are planning on moving to the

area, this site can help you find what is available to support you in

your role as a parent, caregiver or educator. The site calendar

provides information on special events for families, and training

opportunities for professionals.
