5. When you are not using the bath lift:• Disconnectthebatteryandplaceoncharge;

• Storetheliftatthebottomofthetub.

Toremovetheliftfromthetub,placeitinits lowest position and:• Disconnectthebatteryfromthehandcontrol;

• Placethehandcontrolontheseat;

• Foldinthesideflaps;

• Whileholdingthetopofthebackrest,pullthe suction release tags on the rear suction feet then tilt the bath lift forward (fig 4);

• Releasethetagsonthefrontsuctionfeetandlift thebathliftoutofthetub;

• Wrapthehandcontrolcableclockwisearound the seat, positioning the cable coil under the actuatorcasing;

• Looptheremainderofthecablearoundoneof the tubes(fig 5);

• Storethebathliftuprightoronitsside.

1. Unpacking the bath liftOpenthepackagingandensurethebathliftisnotdamagedandthatallpartsareincluded.Ifithas

beendamagedintransitorpartsaremissing,contactyoursupplierimmediately.

Insidetheboxyouwillfind:

• Abathlift,completewithtwosideflapsandhandcontrolattached(see fig 1) • Abattery(see fig 2) • Abatterychargerwithchargingcradleattached(see fig 2)

Ifyourbathliftissuppliedwithoptionalsoftcovers,fitthematthisstage

(seecoverfittinginstructions).

Beforeinstallingorusingthebathliftforthefirsttime,ensureyouchargethebattery

(seesection2,“Chargingthebattery”below).

2. Charging the batteryBefore first operation of your bath lift or after long periods of non-use (typically 7-10 days), fully charge the battery as follows. A flat battery will take up to 2 hours to charge.

i) Slidethebatteryintothetracksonthechargingcradleuntilitclicksintoplace(see fig 2). ii) Plugthechargerintoasocket/outletoutsidethebathroomandswitchontheelectricitysupply

(ifapplicable).

iii) Thelightindicatoronthechargerboxwillinitiallyflashinaquicksequenceofred,green,red,

green, before a constant red light appears to indicate charging is in progress (see fig 2). iv) Whenthebatteryhasbeenfullycharged,theredlightonthechargerboxturnstoaconstant

greenlight,whichindicatesthebatteryisreadyforuse.Werecommendchargingthebattery

aftereachbathwhereverpossibleandleavingitonchargeuntilyournextbath.Thebattery

cannot be overcharged.

v) Whenyouarereadytouseyourfullychargedbattery(seeparagraphiv),switchoffthesocket/

outletorremovethechargerfromthesocket/outlet,then ensure you disconnect the battery from the charging cradle.(Thispreventsthebatterydischargingandwillresetthechargerreadyforitsnextuse.)

NOTE:

• Donotchargeinthebathroomoranyhumidarea.Alwayschargeinadryarea,ensuringyourhandsaredryfirst.

•Alwayschargeonahardsurface.

•Duringcharging,thetemperatureofthechargerboxmayexceed40oC/104oF but will gradually decreaseoncetheconstantgreenlightontheboxappears.Userswithsensitive/damagedskinshouldtakecareandallowapproximately3hoursfromstartofchargingbeforehandlingthebox.

•Ensurethatnometalobjectstouchthecontactsonthebattery,asthiswilldamagethebattery.

•UseonlytheLumex®Splashchargersuppliedtochargethebatteryandfornootherpurpose.

3. Preparing the tub for installation i) Removeanynon-slipmatsfromthetub.

ii) Ensurethebottomofthetubiscleanandsmooth,withnooilortubcleanerresiduesthatwill

preventthesuctionfeetfromsticking.

iii) Thesuctionfeetmaynotbesuitableintubsthathavebeenre-enamelledorthathaverippledor

texturedsurfaces.

iv) Itisessentialthatthesideflaps(see fig 1) do not catch under any obstructions such as integral

tub handles, handrails, soap dishes and faucets when rising. If your tub has integral handles

andthesideflapsarelikelytocatch,optionalsideflapprotectorsareavailable(seesection15,

“Accessories”).Thesehookoverintegraltubhandles (see fig 3) and help guide the side flaps

smoothlyoverthehandles.

v) Ensuretherearenooverheadobstructionsattherearofthetub,wherethebathliftwillbe

positioned(e.g.wall-mountedshelves/cupboardsorshowerfixtures),astheymayinterferewith

theupwardmovementoftheseat.Wherepossible,removesuchobstructions.Alternatively,

thebathliftmustbeplacedfurtherforwardinthetubtoavoidtheobstruction(seesection4,

“Installingthebathlift”).

4. Installing the bath lifti) Pickupthebathliftholdingitascloseaspossibletoyourbody.

ii) Placethesuctionfeetontheflatbottomofthetubandasfarbackaspossibleattheopposite

endtothefaucets.Ifthereareanyoverheadobstructionsatthebackofthetubthatcannotbe

removedandarelikelytointerferewiththeupwardmovementofthebathlift,movethebathlift

further forward in the tub until clear of the obstacle.

iii) Nowpressfirmlydownontheseat,ensuringallfoursuctionfeetareattachedtothetubsurface.

NOTE: Thesuctionfeetmaynotsticktoverycurvedorcontouredsurfaces.

iv) Unfoldthetwosideflapssotheyrestagainstthesidesofthetub.(Sideflapseasetransfer

onandoffthebathliftandalsopreventfingerentrapment.)Ifsideflapprotectorsarerequired

andhavebeenfittedtointegraltubhandles,ensurethetwosideflapsarerestingsubstantiallyon

them.Ifthesideflapsarestilllikelytocatchunderhandles,movethesideflapprotectorsasfaras

possiblealongthehandlesuntilthesideflapsareoverthem (see fig 4). Ifthisstilldoesnotimprovetheflaps’positiononthesideflapprotectors,movethebathlift

slightlyforwardinthetub.Alternatively,asideflapprotectorextensionkitisavailable(seesection

15,“Accessories”).

v) Fillthetubwithwatertotherequiredlevelensuringtheactuatorcasing(see fig 5) is not

submergedinwater.Checkthatthewatertemperatureisnottoohotbeforeusingthebathlift.

NOTE: Water level will rise when your body enters the tub and

displaces the water.

Thedepthofthewaterisnottoexceedthedepthas

indicatedbythelabel(seeright)onthebackandsides

oftheLumex®Splash.

vi) Thebatterycannowbeconnectedtothehandcontrolonyourbathlift(seesection5,

“Connectingthehandcontrol”).

5. Connecting the hand control

NOTE: If the battery has not been used before or has not been used for a long period (typically 7-10

days),ensureyouplaceitonchargebeforeusingthebathlift.

i) Slidethefullychargedbatteryintothetracksonthehandcontrol(see fig 6)untilitclicks into place.

ii) Alwayscheckthebatterystatusindicatoronthehandcontrolbeforeusingthebathlift

(see fig 7).PresstheUPbuttonandobservethefollowingguidelines:

• IfGREENlight,proceedwithyourbath,providedthebatteryhasbeenchargedwithinthe

last 7-10 days.

• IfFLASHINGGREENlight,proceedwithyourbath,providedthebatteryhasbeenchargedwithin

thelast7-10days.Thenchargeimmediatelyafterwards(seesection2,“Chargingthebattery”).

• IfREDlight,doNOT use the bath lift. Charge IMMEDIATELY (seesection2,“Chargingthebattery”). • Ifinanydoubt,rechargethebatterybeforeuse(seesection2,“Chargingthebattery”).

NOTE: ThebatteryisforusesolelywithLumex®Splash bath lifts and cannot be used to operate any

other product.

6. Using the bath lift

NOTE: Ensureallfoursuctionfeetareattachedtothetubsurfacebeforeeachuse.

i) Toraisethebathlift,presstheUPbuttononthehandcontrol(see fig 7). If the side flaps are

caughtonanyobstruction,immediatelylowerthebathliftbypressingtheDOWNbuttononthe

handcontrol.Pulleachsideflapfreefromtheobstruction,thenresumetheliftingoperation.

ii) Asthebathliftreachesthetopofthetub,thesideflaponthesideyouwillbegettingonwillfold

outtoformatransferplatform.

iii) Whenthebathlift’sseatandsideflaparelevelwithandsupportedbythetopofthetub,release

yourfingerfromtheUPbuttonandthebathliftwillstop.

iv) Sitonthesideflapandmoveontotheseat,ensuringnopartofyourbodycanbecometrapped

asyoudoso(e.g.underneaththesideflaps).Youmayfinditeasiertotransferifyouwettheseat

andthesideflapsfirst.Turnasyoulifteachlegoverthesideofthetubthensitbackintheseat

andmakeyourselfcomfortable.

v) Beforeloweringthebathlift,extendyourfeetoutinfrontofyouandkeephandsabovetheseat

toavoidanyriskofentrapment.

vi) Toloweryourselftothebottomofthetub,presstheDOWNbuttononthehandcontrol

(see fig 7).Whenthebuttonisreleased,thebathliftwillstopandremainatthatpositionuntil

the button is pressed again.

vii) Whenyouhavereachedthebottomofthetub,thebathliftwillautomaticallystop.

viii)Whilebathing,youmayusethesuctioncupsonthebatterytoattachthehandcontrol

and battery to the edge of the tub or to a tiled wall. If the hand control and battery fall into the water, there is NO danger as both are waterproof. Ensure you wipe the battery dry before charging.

ix) Whenyouhavefinishedbathing,retrievethebatteryandhandcontrolfromwhereyouhave

storeditbypullingthetagsonthesuctioncups.PresstheUPbuttontoraisethebathlift.When

thebuttonisreleased,thebathliftwillstopandremainatthatpositionuntilthebuttonis

pressed again.

x) Oncethesideflapsarelevelwiththetopofthetub,removeyourfingerfromtheUPbuttonand

movesidewaysontothesideflap,ensuringonceagainthatnopartofthebodycanbecome

trapped as you do so.

xi) Turnwhileliftingeachlegoutofthetub.

xii)Drainthetub.

NOTE:

• IftheREDlightappearsonthehandcontrolwhilelowering,thebathliftwillnotgodownanyfurther.Ifthishappens,presstheUPbuttonandthebathliftwillraiseyoutothetopofthetub.Charge the battery immediately.

•Intheeventofanemergency,slidingthebatteryoutofthehandcontrolcaninstantly terminateallbathliftmovement.

• Whenthebathliftreachesitsmaximumlimitoftravel(upordown),therewillbeashortdelaybefore it will operate again.

•Thebathliftisnotdesignedforcontinuousoperation.Allowatleast15minutesbetweenbaths.

•DoNOTallowtheactuatorbehindthebackresttobeplacedunderaconstantflowofwater (e.g.runningfaucet)andensureitisnottotallysubmergedinwater.

7. When the bath lift is not in usei) Ifyouwishtocleanthebathliftwhileitisinthetub(seesection9,“Cleaning”),werecommend

doingsowhenitisatitshighestpositioninthetub.Thisallowsaccessforcleaningboththetub

and the underside of the bath lift.

ii) If the bath lift is stored in the tub, ALWAYS ensure the seat is lowered to the bottom of the tub.

NOTE: If the RED light has appeared on the hand control preventing you from lowering the

bath lift to the bottom of the tub for storage, recharge the battery immediately (see section 2, “ Charging the battery”) and lower the bath lift to the bottom of the tub as soon as possible thereafter.

iii) Disconnectthebatteryandplaceonchargereadyforyournextbath(seesection2,“Charging

thebattery”).Note: If not charging after each bath, ensure you leave the battery connected to the hand control. Disconnectfromthehandcontrolonlyifthebathliftisbeingremoved

fromthetub.

8. Removing the bath lift from the tubi) Ensurethebathliftisinitslowestpositionatthebottomofthetub.

ii) Removethebatteryfromthehandcontrol.

iii) Placethehandcontrolontheseatandfoldthesideflapsin.

iv) Holdthetopofthebackrestandasyoupullthereleasetagsoneachoftherearsuction

feet, tilt the bath lift forward (see fig 8).v) Continuetoreleasethetagsonthefrontsuctionfeetandliftthecompletebathliftoutofthe

tub.

vi) Standthebathliftupright,thenwrapthehandcontrolcableclockwisearoundboththeseat

andtubesensuringthecablecoilispositionedunderneaththeactuatorcasing.Nowloopthe

remainderofthecablearoundoneofthetubes(see fig 9).vii) Storethebathliftuprightorlayitonitsside. NOTE:

•Whenliftingthebathlift,alwaysliftclosetoyourbody.

• Toavoidaccidentaldamagetothehandcontrolwhilecarryingorstoring,ensureitis preventedfromdanglingfreely.

9. CleaningCleanthebathliftasfrequentlyasyoucleanyourtub,usingnon-abrasivecleaners.*Ifused

communally,werecommenddisinfectingthebathliftaftereachuse.SOLVENT-basedcleaners,such

as white spirit, should NOT be used.

i) Todisinfectthebathlift,useasoftbrushorclothandwipedownwithasterilizingsolutionor

anti-bacterialcleaner.Rinsetheproductwithcleanwater,thenwipeanddryusingacleancloth.

ii) Bath/medicinaloilsandothersolutionsareeasilyremovedwithwashing-upliquid.Donotallow

oilsorotheradditivestobuildup.Theyshouldberemovedfrequentlyotherwise,overthecourse

oftime,theymayleadtodegradationofthesuctionfeetand/ordiscolorationofthebathlift.

iii) Thebathliftcanbecleanedinanautomatedwashingmachine(toamaximumtemperatureof

73°C/163°Ffor3minutes),howeverthebatteryMUSTberemovedandwashedbyhand.The

batterymustnotbesubjectedtohightemperaturecleaning.

iv) Donotcleanorrinsetheactuatorunderaconstantflowofwater,e.g.runningfaucet,ortotally

submergeitinwater.

v) Ifyourbathliftisfittedwithsoftcovers,ensureyouremovethemonaregularbasistocleanthe

bath lift surfaces.

Itisalsoadvisabletocleanthetubsurfaceunderthesuctionfeetfromtimetotime.

*Cleaningagentsshouldbeusedinaccordancewiththeirmanufacturer’sguidelines.

NOTE: Iftheactuatorisdetachedfromthebathliftforcleaning,ensurethebatteryisalways

disconnectedfromthehandcontrol.

10. Maintenance and servicingRepairsandservicingmustbeentrustedtoaLumex®Splashauthorizeddealerorengineer.

ThebathliftshouldbeinspectedannuallybyaLumex®Splashauthorizeddealerorengineer,who

willcheckthattherearenoloosefittingsoranyotherevidenceofmechanicaldamage.

Intended life - bath liftThedurabilityofthebathlifthasbeentestedinaccordancewithBSEN10535:2006(Hoistsforthe

transferofdisabledpersons-requirementsandtestmethods). If serviced and used in accordance

withtheoperatinginstructions,thebathliftandallparts(excludingbattery)willachieve11,000

liftingcyclesor5years’use,whicheveristhesoonest.

Intended life - batteryIt is essential that the operating instructions with regards to battery use and charging is adhered

to.Thebatterylifeexpectancyis500chargecyclesor1year’suse,whicheveristhesoonest.We

recommendthebatterybereplacedaccordinglyinordertoobtainthebestperformancefromyour

bath lift.

11. WarrantyThisproductissoldwiththebenefitthat,intheeventofanydefectofmanufactureormaterial

appearingwithin1yearofthedateofreceiptoftheproduct,thedefectwillberectifiedfreeof

charge, provided that:

i) Reasonableevidenceisprovided(e.g.purchaseinvoiceordeliverynote)thattheproductwas

purchasednotmorethan1yearpriortothedateofclaim;and

ii) Thedefectisnotattributabletoaccidentaldamage(eitherintransitorotherwise),fairwearandtear,willfuldamage,misuseorunauthorizedrepair.

Thebatteryisalsoguaranteedfor1yeartopower(whenfullycharged)onebathingcycle*atfull load (20stone/127kg/280lbs).

Consumers’statutoryrightsarenotaffected.

* The bathing cycle:Foronebath,itisassumedthatthebathliftwillberaisedfromthebottomtotheheightofthetub

andthenloweredintothewatersupportingapersonofupto20stone/127kg/280lbs.Afterbathing,

the bath lift will raise the person to the height of the tub then the seat will be lowered tothebottomof the tub for storage.
