INTRODUCTION Oil and natural gas corporation limited(O.N.G.C.) is Indian multinational oil andgas company head quarter in Dehradun ,India. ONGC was founded on 14th August,1956 by the Indian state. Oil and natural gas Corporation ltd is India's most valuable company, having amarket share of above 80% in India's Crude oil and natural gas exploration andproduction. Its production of crude oil in 2013-14 was 37.78 MMT and of natural gas 35.40billion cubic meters. 4. Machine shop# Machining is any of the various processes in which a piece of thework piece is cut into desired final shape & size by a controlledmaterial removing process.# The machining operations like turning , facing , drilling , threading, boring , knurling , taper turning , grinding , shaping are the oneswhich are carried out in the machine shop.# So we can say that machine shop is there for performing thedifferent types of machining operations using different machinessuch as drilling machine , radial drilling machine , lathe machine .# In this shop either the old parts are machined as per the given jobdetails or new jobs as per the old samples which are used asreference. 5. Also used for lastremoval of stock onpreparation for otheroperation likeboring, reaming, ortapping. 11. Key operations Turning Facing Threading Drilling Honing Taping Reaming Taper turning 12. Diesel shop It is one of the main parts of workshop and Is there for maintenanceof all type of engines , especially diesel engine. Testing , cleaning, maintenance or any other component specificproblems of an engine are analyzed and sorted out here. The engines available here are generally of four types compressorengine , generator engine and production engine , fire engine. Currently the engines seen are 6-cylinder(Cummins) , 8-cylinder(Crompton). 13. Diesel Workshop 14. N-743-T-F# N-743 signifies theseries of the engine ,Cummins manufacturethe engine of this series.#T- shows the presenceof turbocharger forcompressing the airbefore its inlet in thecylinder.# F it shows that theseengines are used forrunning the fire pumps. 15. Problem# The bearing shell of themain bearing ofcrankshaft got weldeddue to an abrupt increasein temperature andinefficient lubrication.# Problems seen in thelubrication are high oilconsumption which maybe poor or inaccurategauge reading orunskilled workingabilities. Low oil pressureis also of one kind. 16. N-T-A-855-P# Its a 6 cylinder dieselengine manufactured byCummins and is generallyused in production rig attimes also used for runninga compressor.# T and A represents thepresence of a turbochargerand an after-cooler in thisengine.# while P shows its use intransmitting power t to aproduction drilling rig. 17. ProblemDeteriorated cylindricalliner 18. Turbocharger 19. After cooler 20. Description The presence of after cooler is shown by the use of alphabet (A ) inengines name. The after cooler is a part of inductions system of an engine and isassembled just after the turbocharger. The purpose of using this after-cooler is increasing the efficiency of theinduction system as it reduces the air heat created by a turbo orsupercharger and promoting more thorough combustion. 21. Timing gear arrangement 22. Description The timing gear is connected by chain, gears, or a belt to the crankshaft atone end and the camshaft on the other. It is marked with tiny increments allaround its perimeter, which correspond to degree of timing from the straight-uptiming position of the camshaft and crankshaft. Timing are used for tuning up the engine . It controls the fuel injection andvalve movement timing . 23. Gasket 24. Description A gasket is a mechanical seal which fills the space between two or more matingsurfaces, generally to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects whileunder compression. Gaskets for specific applications, such as high pressure steam systems, maycontain a asbestos. However, due to health hazards associated with asbestosexposure, non-asbestos gasket materials are used when practical. Gaskets are normally made from a flat material, a sheet suchas paper, rubber, silicone, metal, cork, felt , neoprene, nitrile rubber,fiberglass, polytetrafluoroethylene (otherwise known as PTFE or Teflon) ora plastic polymer. 25. Assembly shop Operations requiring the dismantling and assembling of theequipments and components such as compressor , gear box ,pumps , mud swivel are performed here. Clogging of suction anddischarge lines Impeller deterioration. 32. Khosla compressor Ltd. (4-H-A-4) 33. Description Its a four stage compressor manufactured by khosla compressorlimited. Air enters the first stage at atmospheric pressure and its pressure israised to 3kg/cm2. Then the moves to the heat exchanger (moisture remover) andthrough an intercooler moves to 2nd stage (12kg/cm2). The pressure is raised upto 49kg/cm2 in third stage. And finally in fourth stage 120kg/cm2 These compressors are used for regulating high pressure air indrilled wells. 34. Fabrication shop Welding and heating operations are the main focus of this shop, and all the welding operations are carried out here. Gas welding(oxy-acetylene welding) transformation arcwelding , and generator arc welding. 35. HeatingHeating of a sparepart named hub. 36. AnyQueries ?
