As the card manager overseeing 25,000 debit cardholders, Sharon Powers used to dread

Monday mornings.

"Every Monday I had to deal with fraud issues that had occurred over the weekend when

the bank was closed," said Powers, Vice President and Bank Manager of River Valley

Bank in Wisconsin. "It was frustrating to have to spend so much time dealing with fraud

and discouraging to see how much money the bank was losing because of unscrupulous

transactions."

River Valley Bank was writing off $40,000 to $50,000 a year in fraud, and as the debit

card program grew, so did the fraud.

"Even though our losses were minimal considering our asset size of $1 billion, we had

two full-time resources dedicated to managing fraud," said Powers.

"Before OmniShield, we had to analyze the card data internally and try to identify fraud

trends, which we didn't do well, considering it wasn't our core expertise. With Vantiv we

no longer have to think about it."

Vantiv creates customized real-time authorization parameters based on the transaction

behavior of River Valley Bank’s cardholders, which reduces the bank’s fraud exposure

with minimal impact to legitimate cardholder purchases.

"Vantiv has a vested interest in minimizing our fraud losses," said Powers. "We view

OmniShield as an insurance policy. If we have a loss, instead of writing it off, we are

reimbursed for the loss by Vantiv."

She added, "I no longer react negatively when I see fraud alerts, because I know Vantiv

is taking care of it. There is a cost, which the benefits outweigh. It has been a worthy

investment. I have no clue how we would be able to manage our card program today

without OmniShield."
