Ultrasonic Component Testing InstrumentThe OmniScan® iX is an industrial ultrasonic flaw detector system designed to test critical industrial components at high speed.

The compact OmniScan iX is housed in a rugged benchtop casing and is also avail-able in a rackmount version or with a swivel-arm assembly for easy integration into a production system.

OMNISCAN IX AND SOFTWARE (VERSION IXU 2.1) OFFICIALLY APPROVED BY:

Rolls Royce for RPS705-QCTP6265

GE Aircraft Engines for P29TF82 multi-channel Class A, B, and C and P3TF31 Class A and B. (Formally known as DFO P3TF22, P3TF30, and P3TF35)

Easy IntegrationPC-Based Remote Control

The OmniScan iX comes standard with the NDT Remote Control Library tool, which allows you to create and run custom software on an external PC. Remote control of the OmniScan iX is done using an Ethernet connection. For example, Start, Stop, and Reset encoders, and data file name functions, can be controlled by an operator using an external application (such as LabVIEW™, Visual C++®, Visual Basic®).

Raw Data Readily Accessed with PC-Based Software

The optional NDT Data Access Library allows direct access to data acquired by the OmniScan iX so tha t you can read and process the da ta using your own PC-based software (for example, MATLAB®).

Rackmount (19 in., 5U)The OmniScan iX is available as a 19 in., 5U rackmount version for easier integration into production environments. It can also be used as a benchtop instrument or, using the stan-dard VESA mounting holes, installed on a swivel mount.

All Connectors Located on Back PanelTo facilitate the rackmount configuration integration, all con-nectors are located on the back panel of the unit.

Industrial Flaw DetectorHigh Pulse Repetition Frequency (PRF)The pulse repetition frequency is the frequency at which pulses are emitted. With full C-scan data recording, the OmniScan iX can at-tain 12 kHz. This value (12 kHz) is divided between the number of channels used for the application.

Data StorageThe OmniScan iX offers complete A-scan and/or C-scan data stor-age capability: data can be stored in internal memory, on a USB storage device, or directly onto a PC using an Ethernet link.

Most Relevant A-scan Display (%Max)With the “%Max” A-scan feature, you will never miss a defect on an A-scan. Although the refresh rate display for an A-scan is not as fast as the PRF rate of the OmniScan iX (up to 12 kHz), the most relevant A-scan is always captured and displayed due to sophisti-cated signal processing.

Immersion InspectionA surface-following interface gate can be synchronized in order to detect and follow the surface of the inspected part.

Immersion mode adds a second ruler for water-path monitoring with adjustable water velocity.

Back-Wall Echo Attenuator OptionGate B can be used as a back-wall echo attenuator in order to independently control the gain under the gate.

2-Axis Mechanical Encoding Option2-axis mechanical encoding with data acquisition synchroniza-tion on mechanical movement is available with the OmniScan iX. Multiple scan modes are available: one-line scan, raster scan, and helicoidal mode.

TCG/DACTCG and DAC functions are provided to compensate for the ef-fects of attenuation either by adjusting the gain level (32 points TCG) or by drawing a reference curve based on a same-size reflector response as a function of distance (DAC). The material attenuation value can also be applied over both TCG and DAC.

DisplaysMULTIPLE A-SCAN DISPLAYUp to 8 A-scans, each having a unique setup for multizone in-spection, can be simultaneously displayed on the screen. A group can use any channel; each channel can be configured for pulse-echo or pitch-and-catch mode.

MULTIPLE STRIP CHART DISPLAYUp to 8 strip charts (related to gate signal) can be displayed at the same time. The information displayed can be either amplitude, time of flight (TOF) in the gate, or both.

C-SCAN DISPLAYMonitors amplitude, peak position, crossing level position, and thickness on each gate. Axis can be set in degrees for cylindrical part inspection. C-scan interpolation can go up to 200 MHz (5 ns) for increased precision.

Inputs and Outputs

Mechanical encoding with data acquisition synchro-nization on mechanical movement. Multiple scan modes are available: one-line scan, raster scan, and helical mode.

PC-Based Remote Control

A software library allows the creation of custom software to be run on an external PC.

The missing piece of your integration puzzle

User Interface

• External display,• Keyboard and

mouse• Printer• Data storage

Multichannel

The OmniScan iX has 2, 4, or 8 conventional ultrasound channels that can be configured for pulse-echo, pitch-and-catch, or sequence firing.

VESA Mounting Holes

Used for installation on swivel mount.

Alarm and Analog outputs

16 real-time, fully programmable alarms and analog outputs (at PRF) enable the integrator to interface with existing process controls.

Designed with the Integrator in MindThe OmniScan iX is designed to be at the center of your industrial component testing system. Olympus provides all the software libraries required to tie in your existing process controls. In addition, we provide the necessary user interface ports to connect a display, keyboard, mouse, and external storage. The real-time programmable alarm and analog outputs, and the encoder inputs, enable easy integration of the mechanical and electronic components of your industrial process.

All that is required for rapid and efficient component testing is built-in.
