We often cringe, remembering our mother saying things like, “Don’t you know that was your great great- grandmother’s chair?” Seeing the potential in an outdated, well-worn, and somewhat questionable piece of furniture can be a challenge for the most discerning person. As a furniture design stylist with a passion for breathing new life into vintage and mid-century pieces, I am constantly on the prowl for furniture that speaks to me. It’s always exhilarating when I come across a piece that has fabulous lines and exceptional detail; however, to create a true work of art as an artist to a canvas, I must become one with the piece. In this feature, I showcase several of my more challenging transformations. With the right vision, an array of fabric options, stains in any color, and a heavy dose of creativity and imagination, anything is possible.
