Old Lane Adventures - 2020 Events About Our Historic Motoring Tours Old Lane Adventures organises and leads self-drive historic motoring tours for owners/drivers of cars that have a classic or historic appeal. Our trips are always to places where the roads allow us to enjoy the thrills of driving, without any of the expense or risk of racing or rallying. We aim to make your trip both memorable and exciting – a true adventure. This document contains the Terms and Conditions of Booking for our tours. So what cars are eligible? You are the judge of that! If you have a classic or historic motorcar, including one that might be considered a modern classic, you are most welcome. The important thing is that you enjoy driving it on exciting roads. Will my car be able to keep up with the pack? There are no rewards for speed on our tours. A reliable and well-serviced car, however, is very important. Even if your top speed is 50mph and you can cruise at 40 or 45mph, you will not get left behind. How many cars will there be? Hard to say, but we want to keep each tour small enough for everyone to enjoy the company of each other. Depending on the hotels chosen, we would normally limit each tour to about 12 or 15 cars, occasionally slightly more. What type of hotels do we stay in? We select our hotels for their comfort and quality. We aim to ensure that our tours are very sociable events, and good food, hot baths or showers, and comfortable beds are essential. Many of the hotels we visit are family-run, with the owners personally looking after our comfort and enjoyment. How many miles do we cover each day? This will vary, depending on the chosen route. Typically, in the mountains, 150 – 160 miles can be a pretty full day. On other less arduous roads we might cover as much as 200 miles. On many of our trips we will stay for two or more nights in the same hotel, allowing you to choose shorter or longer routes on the intervening days. What is included in the price of the tour? Each tour will have its own information sheet telling you exactly what is included. Typically, our tours will include six, seven or eight nights half-board, with three- or four-course dinner, bed and breakfast. Wine and soft drinks are included at the evening meal. On some tours you can choose to visit local restaurants if you prefer. Each crew also receives a Road Book for the tour and Rally Plates for the car. All who reach the final hotel will receive the Finishers’ Awards, and we may also have some frivolous trophies presented for all sorts of achievements during the tour. Our prices are based on two people per car, sharing a twin or double bedroom. Single rooms are also available for an extra supplement. There is an additional supplement if you wish to travel alone. Our tours generally begin at the hotel where we spend our first night together, and finish at the final hotel. We can also help to arrange the transit ferries and hotels if you wish. Please indicate this on the Booking Form. How does the payment system work? When we receive your Booking Form and deposit, we will write by return to confirm your booking. Final payment is due eight weeks before the start of the tour, after which we will send you your Road Book, Rally Plate and Joining Instructions. We will send you a final invoice and remind you

nearer the time when your final payment is due. You may now pay in £ sterling or in € euros – please ask for details if you wish to pay in euros. What happens if you have to cancel? Once we have confirmed your booking, we are not normally able to return your deposit. If you have to cancel more than eight weeks before the tour begins, there is nothing more to pay. Once we have received your final payment, we would not normally make any refund in the event of a cancellation. We would encourage you to take out travel insurance, giving you medical cover as well as cancellation protection. If your car is unable to start the tour, or breaks down on the route, you are free to substitute another in its place. We will also accept a substitute car and crew in your place without further cost penalty if you have to cancel before departure for any reason. If a tour has low numbers, we may have to cancel it, in which case you will receive a full refund of all you have paid. We will confirm to you whether a tour will take place not less than ten weeks before it starts and before we send your final invoice. What about administrative and mechanical support? Your tour will be led by an Old Lane Adventures Tour Director. We will do everything we can to ensure you have an enjoyable motoring holiday. Unless specifically advised otherwise, we do not take mechanical backup beyond the normal hand-tools and consumables, and would encourage you to take out Breakdown Insurance that includes Recovery. The Road Book contains a checklist of suggested spares and tools that has been built up over many years of experience. Please also ensure that your passports are up to date and with six months validity at the end of the trip. We look forward to some exciting motoring with you in the year ahead.
