Bowling, Burgers, and Beer

Attendees at our Dust Bowl Lanes and Lounge social event on February 24th, had some fun, enjoyed a meal, and some refreshments. While there were some more skilled bowlers in the crowd, we all gave it a shot and tried not to throw too many gutter balls. Student from the UCO chapter joined us, and we learned there are some former Roller Derby girls among the group.

If you’ve not been to the Dust Bowl Lanes and Lounge, we highly recommend it for a family fun event. There are even private areas for families to shelter the young ones from the more brash on the lanes. Service for food and beverages was effi-cient and effective—something we all strive for in APICS.

Watch for another chance for sports, food, and beverages this Spring and Sum-mer. We are investigating dates to go back to the OKC Dodgers baseball game which we enjoyed last season.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at a future event.

Strebel Creek Vineyard Visit We enjoyed an informative and fun evening learning about and tasting wine at the

Strebel Creek Winery on March 2nd. Our hosts were Gary and Sherry Strebel

who own and operate their small business consisting of a boutique gift shop with

wine-related items, and of course there was the wine which they make there.

We learned that their supply chain extends to California and Edmond for grapes

and grape product beyond that grown on the premises. The explanation of the

forms and paperwork required to establish and license the winery was almost fun-

ny if it weren’t so true regarding how bureaucratic the federal, state, and city pro-

cessing can be. To the plus side, they got there and we enjoyed the results.

The logo for the Strebel’s products was painted by

Greg Burns, a noted artist in the OKC area who suf-

fers from Arthrogryposis, a muscle and joint disease,

which affects the use of his arms and legs. He

draws cradling a pen in his hand, and watercolors by

holding the brush in his teeth. Greg painted this sce-

ne of Strebel Creek after the bridge had to be rebuilt

following a flood.

What a very special painting you also receive with all

wine purchases, because it’s on the label of every

bottle. And everybody left with bottles of wine and a

bit more knowledge of what it takes to run a winery.

APICS Mem-bership Re-newal Op-tions Now Available APICS rolled out new membership

benefit bundles last year.

The standard bundle is known as

“Core,” and those pursuing CPIM,

CSCP, or CLTD certification can

elect to pay a bit more for the

“Plus” bundle in order to receive

discounts on course materials,

exam fees, certification frame or

plaque, etc.

Those already certified will notice

the “Core” membership will be

offered at a lower price than when

they last renewed. APICS thinking

is that this should help retain mem-

bers after they complete certifica-

tion.

As an example, a Professional

Member paying $200 annually last

year will pay $180 for the “Core”

membership or $220 if they

choose the “Plus” membership

when renewing this year. Young

Professional membership bundles

are half the above example.

Academic, military, and govern-

ment employee membership pric-

ing will not change under APICS’

new bundling concept. Likewise,

Student memberships will still be

free.

CSCP Exam Windows are

History

Beginning March 4th, the

exam windows for the

CSCP certification exam

will be eliminated.

CSCP candidates may

now take the exam at the

time of their choosing

throughout the year. This

puts CSCP exams in line

with both CPIM and

CLTD exams which can

be taken throughout the

year.

This change applies to

North America as well as

the rest of the world.

CSCP Certification Understanding and implementing the latest best practices and trends is the key to

success in global supply chain management. The APICS Certified Supply Chain

Professional (CSCP) program is the first and only supply chain certification that

encompasses the end-to-end global supply chain.

We are offering the APICS CSCP Exam Preparation Course that will expand your

supply chain knowledge and prepare you for the APICS CSCP exam. Classes

begin March 18th on Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, through May 6th at Metro

Technology Center, 1700 Springlake Drive, OKC, OK 73111.

We provide you with the APICS CSCP Learning System which is a comprehen-

sive education program combining reading materials with interactive web-based

study tools to provide a customized experience.
