Photo Competition
f2.8 Photo Expo OKC Sponsored by Bedford
Thanks to the effort of many club members,
our banner proudly hung on the front row at
Bedford's Inaugural EXPO between the well
known industry leaders, Sony, Canon and
Nikon. Many members contributed signifi-
cant time greeting and visiting with photogra-
phers from all over the city. Visitors became
fascinated scanning copies of the club's news-
letter and picking up club cards and handouts.

You can register it for a price but in
most cases this is just a total waste of
money. Registering a shot in the US
is more so, should there be a problem
you can sue, it is NOT proof of own-
ership. If you want to register then
the details are here http://
www.copyright.gov/forms/
What happens if I post a picture on
flicker, you steal it and register it. I
also register it but a day later. So
who does the shot belong to? The
actual photographer should be able to
Copyright is automatic as soon as
you take the pictures. There is no re-
quirement to register them anywhere.
However, if you post the images on
the internet then there is always the
chance they will be stolen.
To try and mitigate against anyone
using them then you should only post
lo-res copies and watermark them.
Although this won't absolutely stop a
determined person, it will stop the
average person doing anything.
prove it was his by having the origi-
nal file and also shots taken either
side of a similar nature. Exif data
would help to prove who took the
picture.
You can also put a visible watermark
on in Photoshop or any other ma-
nipulation program. You basically
use the text tool on a layer and then
you can reduce the opacity so it is
not too distracting.

only at technique, who ask ‘how’, while others
of a more curious nature will ask ‘why’. Per-
