FORUMSCorrosion and Punishment

Tuesday, March 24 • 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.

With the success of the last two years’ forums, we’re bringing back John Clayton, Jackson & Walker, and Kevin Garrity, CC Technologies-a DNV Co., to discuss the legal issues surrounding pipeline failures. The recent corrosion-related pipeline failures have been highly visible in the news and now the U.S. Government is holding individual personnel—including non-management technical personnel—criminally responsible for ensuring safe operation of pipelines. In the PIPES Act, that responsibility is clearly placed on the senior leadership within operator companies. It is imperative that we begin thinking about the role of the corrosion professional in ensuring pipeline integrity and the potential liability.

TECHNICAL SYMPOSIACorrosion in Gas Treating

Monday, March 23 • 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.Sponsored by TEG 113X on Gas Treating Control Systems Corrosion MinimizationSymposium Chair : Ahmed M. Al-Zahrani, Saudi Aramco; Vice Chair : Eldon Baumeister, Dow Chemical Co.

This symposium contains technical papers that are related to corrosion in gas treating environments. Papers will report laboratory investigations and case studies in which actual corrosion problems were solved.

Microbiologically Influenced CorrosionWednesday, March 25 • 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Sponsored by TEG 187X on Microbiologically Influenced CorrosionSymposium Chair : Reeta D. Sooknah, CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory; Vice Chair : Matilde De Romero, La Universidad de Zulia

This symposium contains technical papers dealing with the impact of microbiological processes on the performance of metallic and nonmetallic materials with a focus on the exploration of mechanisms and modeling of microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC). Papers will also include information on recent advancements in understanding and monitoring microbial ecology, as well as new techniques for online monitoring of MIC, and environmentally friendly control methods..

Advances in Materials for Oil and Gas ProductionWednesday, March 25 • 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Sponsored by STG 32 on Oil and Gas Production: Corrosion and Scale InhibitionSymposium Chair : Julio G. Maldonado, Chevron Energy Technology Co.; Vice Chair : Matthew Tabinor, BP America, Inc.

This symposium contains technical papers that focus on recent materials research and development, including basic and applied research as well as failure analyses that address materials performance and advance the understanding of corrosion and environmental cracking processes and mechanisms.

Oil and Gas Production—Cathodic Protection Wednesday, March 25 • 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Sponsored by STG 30 on Oil and Gas Production: Cathodic ProtectionSymposium Chair : Justin Landry, GATE, LLC; Vice Chair : Luke Salmons, Chevron

This symposium contains technical papers related to the application and evaluation of cathodic protection of all types of equipment used in oil and gas production.

Sour Gas Corrosion in Oil and Gas Thursday, March 26 • 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Sponsored by TEG 282X on Oil and Gas Production, Sour Corrosion: Information ExchangeSymposium Chair : Victor (Hongbin) Wang, Clariant; Vice Chair : Jon Kvarekval, Institute for Energy Technology

This symposium contains technical papers addressing the effects of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and other sulfur-containing compounds on corrosion in the oil and gas industry, monitoring techniques for sour gas corrosion, development of new corrosion inhibitors, mechanisms of corrosion, and predictive modeling. Also included: general reviews, field experiences, case studies, and inspection technologies.

Refining Industry Corrosion

Tuesday, March 24 • 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.Sponsored by TEG 205X on Refining Industry Information ExchangeSymposium Chair : Richard Colwell, Bechtel Corp.; Vice Chair : Faisal M. Al-Faqeer, Saudi Aramco

This symposium contains technical papers on refinery unit performance as related to materials and corrosion issues. Papers will explore failure analyses, case histories, and materials performance.
