TOPICS & SESSION hIGhLIGhTS
Find Your Credit union’s Love StoryExplore the pathway of credit union philosophy from history to the present, looking forward to the future. Develop an understanding of the depth and breadth of opportunities for cooperative financial institutions in the future, with a philosophy that has met the test of time.
Leading a Cooperative: A Panel DiscussionThis session will explore the opportunities and challenges leading a cooperative presents and how some of your peers are navigating these waters to become a much stronger credit union.
Today’s Economy and the Risks for Your Credit unionHear from one of CUNA’s senior economists about the state of the economy and trends that will affect your credit union. Explore the state of financial regulatory reform, the mortgage market, lending trends and more. Most importantly, find out how these circumstances and forecasts affect your credit union’s risk assessment and management strategies.
Facing Ethics: The Effect of Behaviors on the WorkplaceLosing focus on the importance of ethics in the workplace can lead to disastrous results. Designed to bolster communication and respect within the credit union community and implore boards and management to ask what they can do to improve relationships, this session will cover everything from the meaning of ethics and its role on our lives, to examples of everyday lapses of ethics and the financial costs to society — and plenty in between.
Enterprise Risk Management and the Role of the BoardGain an overview of enterprise risk management (ERM) and the benefits of an ERM program to the credit union, including the specific role of the board in the credit union’s ERM processes. You will learn how your credit union can expand the role of and better leverage the committee as you continue to navigate the evolving challenges inherent within our industry.
Emerging Payments Trends Payment systems for credit unions change as the behavior of our members change, with an increasing emphasis on anytime, anywhere access to accounts and payment capabilities. This session will focus on the latest payments trends and will provide recommendations for credit unions to prepare for the future.
Best Practices for Board/CEO RelationshipsPerhaps there is no relationship more important to the success of the credit union than that between the CEO and the Board of Directors. Poor relationships can limit effectiveness, cause personal and professional stress and prematurely end promising careers. In this session, you’ll learn about the four behavioral dimensions identified by organizational psychologists as critical to success: Trust, Micromanaging, Clarity and Communication.
The Future is here: helping Your Credit union Remain Relevant for Years to ComeThe U.S. population is the youngest it’s been in fifty years while the average age of credit union members has never been older. Credit unions must become relevant to today’s younger consumer, and your support as a director is critical to its success. In this session, created specifically for credit union directors, you’ll learn more about the challenges your credit union faces to attract and serve these demanding younger consumers. Become better able to provide meaningful support to your management team during this profound shift in the financial services landscape.
