Recap Ch.6:1-8 (First 4 seals) • As the first four seals are opened, John saw four horses and the one

sat on the horses. The white horse, the red horse, the black horse and the pale horse.

• White horse – Came the false Christ or the antichrist. Was conquering the earth peacefully.

• Red horse - The rider on the second horse characterizes war, it speaks of blood shed and war. Not a war between nations and nation, but men fighting against men.

• Black horse - The color of Black often connected with famine. Poor people’s food of wheat and barley were affected, but the rich would be enjoying as oil and wine are not touched. Antichrist uses this hunger to bring the economy of the world under his control. (no one can buy and sell if no mark in them)

• Pale horse - As the 4th seal was opened, we see a pale horse and a companion (hades) walking along with the rider (death). Power was given to kill with sword, hunger, pestilence and beasts. So after antichrist comes war, after war comes famine, after famine comes death.

Recap Ch.6:9-11 (Fifth seal) • Fifth seal – John saw under the altar the souls of those who had

been slain for the Word of God and for the testimony of Christ. • First 4 seals persecution has to do with the human government and

the last three seals are directly related to do with divine intervention.

• As the 5th seal is opened, we do not see any action there. we see the result of persecution, not the persecution.

• History of redemption has been written in the blood of Martyrs • Christianity suffered persecution throughout the history • Focused attack on Jews by Hitler and through concentrations camps

such as Buchenwald, Dachau and Auschwitz killed millions of Jews. • We also saw who are these martyrs(post rapture martyrs), how they

were killed, where did they come from, the cause, consequence of their martyrdom and the cry (vengeance) of the martyrs, where as the pre-rapture martyrs cried out for forgiveness.

• John tells us the end of persecution is not yet. Jews suffered so tragically in the life time of their nation, but yet there is sufferings.


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) • As the sixth seal is removed, the title deed to the earth reveals

enormous disorders of the nature. Cataclysmic earthquake, sun became black, the moon became like blood, starts falling out of the sky, sky rolled up like a scroll, mountains and islands of the sea being moved like chess players.

• The first judgment of war, famine, death and martyrdom are because of evil in the heart of men, but this judgment describes a divine punishment inflicted on sinful people by God himself.

• God directly gets involved in the judgment process. • It is probable that with the opening of the sixth seal, we have now

moved through the first three and half year of tribulation. We are at the end of the first 3.5 years. – Remember there will be 7 years of tribulation, the first 3.5 years will be

simply tribulation and second 3.5 years will be great tribulation. – The first half will be intense, but the second half will be unbelievably

intense, concludes with the battle of Armageddon and the return of the Lord with His saints.


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) We see evidence that this is the end of first 3.5 years.

– V 6:17 says the great day of His wrath has come. – Soon after this the seventh seal will be opened. If you remember,

the seventh seal includes all of the seven trumpet judgment and the seventh trumpet includes all of the seven vial judgment.

– The first six seals are independent, but the seventh seal includes the trumpet and the vial judgments. It is just the beginning of judgment. Judgment is getting warmed up.

– When we move from sixth to seventh seal, God in all out fury destroying this world.

– How do we know that? Lets read Ch.8:1, there is half an hour silence, because of the knowledge of what is going to happen in the second part of the tribulation.

• Some people say, these events picture changes in the world government, shaking of world Government, stars falling out of the sky is some tradition.

• But there is a strong evidence here that it is not symbolic, it is literal. We read the response it generated in Ch 6:15-17.


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) On the day of judgment, how is it possible for the earth to shake, what people will understand about this fivefold judgment of a great earth quake, sun becoming dark & moon turning to blood, stars falling on earth, sky being rolled up and mountains & islands being moved. Great Earthquake

Prophecies about earthquake were spoken by Jesus Christ as in Matthew Ch.24, Ezekiel, Joel, Amos, Haggai.

Bible also records the shaking of the earth at important times. • When the law was given at Mount Sinai, Mountains trembled,

earth shook and rocks were rent

• When Jesus died on the cross, Matthew 27:51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,

• When Jesus came out of the grave, Matthew 28:2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) What will be like on the day when the earthquake comes. How could an earthquake can be that powerful. • It is relevant to review when it had happened in the past. • Earth quake in the Mexico city in 1985 (Read). • Secondly, Darkening of the sky - and the sun became black as

sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. • It is interesting to review when these things have happened in

the past. • When Jesus died on the cross, the whole earth became dark at

midday. • When Egypt was judges, there was a blackness of night • When the Lord came down in Mt. Sinai, the mountain was

shrouded in black clouds.


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) • Joel 2:30-31 30 “ And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the

earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.

• Zephaniah 1:15 That day is a day of wrath, A day of trouble and distress, A day of devastation and desolation, A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness,

• Isaiah 13:9-10 Behold, the day of the LORD comes, Cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, To lay the land desolate; And He will destroy its sinners from it. 10 For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine.

• Ezekiel 32:7 7 When I put out your light, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, And the moon shall not give her light.

• Mark 13:24 24But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light.


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) We do not know how many days in the past such dark days occurred in the history.

But one certainly evident is the New England's Dark Day. (Read)

• Such darkness comes upon the land, it has great impact upon mankind. Business and pleasure will cease, crime will multiply, depression of spirit will settle over the earth. The disc of the moon that reflects sun’s light will turn to red.

• Alaska experience such darkness during winter (Read)

• People living in Alaska try to fly out of that place once in a year as major part of the day is dark. The darkness is such a long part of the day during that season if people remain there they will be taken over by depression.

• The surrounding darkness has a huge impact on human.

• Such a great darkness is experience as the sixth seal is opened.


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) Thirdly, there will be falling of the stars. • Star Greek word used is “Aster” – any luminous body in the

sky other than the sun or the moon. (Read) Fourthly, the sky as a scroll being rolled up

• (Read what Dr. Henry Morris says) So as the sixth seal is opened, • The earth starts to shake • The sky goes black • The shower of meteorites flying across the sky falling on

the earth with a greater impact that even shakes the earth. • Now sky as a scroll being rolled up. • Next, every mountain and island was moved out of its

place


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) • Last the moving of the mountain and islands: • And, in the process, “every mountain and island [islands are

submerged mountains] were moved out of their places.” It would seem that such an amazing phenomenon must be caused by some such area-wide slippages of the crust.

• Read Ch.6:15-17 Three lessons 1. Sin’s horror: The horrible judgment of sins, the whole of human society is represented there, no one is exempted from the wrath of God. This is a universal judgment of God, there is an intuitive knowledge of God in everyone's heart. Read Romans 1:20


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) 2. Sin’s hiding • First instinct of sin is to hide. • Sin is always behind closed doors • Our original parents sinned and hid themselves • Sin makes us fugitive from God • Supreme thing about the work of Christ is to put man

back on a relationship with God, so no need of hiding. 3. Hardness of Sin Instead of calling upon God, they are calling upon the mountains and rocks. The way they pray and whom they pray. They think that dying will help them to escape the judgment. Donald Grey Barnhouse says, ….


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) “The greatest prayer meeting that the earth has ever seen now takes place in Rev Ch.6, but like most prayers that have been offered throughout the ages by fallen humanity these are not addressed in the right way. Whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved, but there is no promise made to those who call upon the rocks and the mountains". One of the most amazing truths of the book of Revelation is: • Judgment seems to harden men’s hearts than softening. • As we move further the judgment is going to become more

severe and the intensity of God’s wrath is multiplied. • Instead of man turning towards God, he resists God in the

second half of the tribulation.


Ch. 6:12-17 (Sixth Seal) The more God punishes men they become more rebellious. • Revelation 9:20-21 • Rev 16:9, 11, 21 • Rev 19:19 (end of the tribulation) Finally annihilated and killed. Sin is so dangerous to play with Sin hardens man’s heart Sin makes one’s heart insensitive Sin turns into more sin and added to sin until it is unrecoverable. (Story of an young man in Dallas Fort Worth) Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Genesis 4:7 sin lies at the door. Proverbs 28:13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, Numbers 32:23 and be sure your sin will find you out.

One sin leads to another sin One hardness leads to a greater hardness Sin has no regard for human life at all. The message is “Don’t get insensitive to sin in our lives”
