RESCUE. RESTORE. REBUILD.You are helping us provide life abundant for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ. Hope, peace, and even joy amid darkness and pain.

Our ImpactThanks to your support, the lives of more than 46,000 persecuted Christians were dramatically transformed this year. Many found stability and hope by way of tangible support. Others discovered the reality of Christ as their needs were met. The underground Church is growing. What Satan means for evil, God is using for His glory.

Our MissionWe are ministers of the Gospel who RESCUE believers escaping imminent danger. RESTORE believers to full physical, emotional, and spiritual health. REBUILD their lives, empowering them to thrive as disciples of Christ in hostile places.

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

I see this verse lived out before my eyes every day. I hear heartbreaking reports of extreme persecution and horrific violence from our Field Ministry Team — I witness the devastating effects of an enemy that has literally come to kill and destroy.

But I also bear witness to the power of Christ at work through friends like you — God is miraculously restoring what has been broken, bringing life from death, building hope from rubble.

In this year of incredible upheaval, caused by a global pandemic, God has grown our ministry in ways we never imagined. Together, we helped 46,860

persecuted believers across 17 countries. We saw a 39% increase in donors to our ministry — and a 57% increase in the number of donations. This simply translates to more lives changed and saved across the Middle East and North Africa. To God be the glory!

A ministry partner recently described Help The Persecuted as “small but mighty.” It’s a distinctive I cherish — a testament to God’s blessing on our work. Our team has decades of experience serving globally for the mission of Christ. Each day, whether in the office or out in the field, we strive to help persecuted Christians by addressing their physical and spiritual needs, and to share the Gospel of Jesus

Christ with others. Thousands are finding hope in Christ through our ministry together.

As an organization, even while small, we desire to take strong and courageous action to fulfill our mission to stand with our persecuted brothers and sisters who, even now, cry out “How Long, O Lord?” (Revelation 6:10).

May God continue to find us faithful!

Civil war in Syria has created the largest

Together, we Rescued, Restored, and Rebuilt the lives of 46,860 persecuted believers this year — to God be the glory!

Persecution is widespread and growing exponentially. In the past decade, a range of significant factors has exacerbated the extreme persecution of Christians.

Civil war in Syria, which has created the

largest refugee crisis in modern history.

The genocidal reign of ISIS.

Greater levels of Islamization across the Middle East and North

Africa (MENA).

The COVID-19 pandemic.

The development and saturation of technology,

enabling governments to watch their citizens

more closely than ever before.

NoorEven when she read the Quran, Noor was always drawn to stories about Issa (Jesus). It didn’t take long for her to accept Christ after a Bible was placed in her hands.

When her conservative Muslim family found out about her faith conversion, they beat her and humiliated her. They encouraged others in their community to hate Noor, and she began receiving threats.

Out of fear for her life, Noor had to relocate to another town in Jordan ... this is when you intervened! We were grateful to step in with funds for housing and basic living expenses as this young lady, who was all alone in a new place, began her new life.

SidqiSidqi was taught to hate Christians from a very young age. Lies fed to him by his extremist parents led him to mistreat and harass Christians in his community. Their loving response to his cruelty softened his heart. Eventually, he accepted Christ as Lord of his life. This led to threats and violence, his Muslim wife leaving him and reporting him to authorities, two years of prison, an attempt to kill him made by members of his ex-wife’s family, and a life on the run.

But you shared hope with Sidqi. Together, we helped him relocate and rebuild his broken life. Today, he is remarried. Ministering to others as an assistant pastor in a church. Sharing the Truth of the Gospel with others in need.

RayahA group of hateful Muslim tormentors began persecuting Rayah after learning of her newfound faith. Though young in her faith, she would not denounce Christ. One day, they raped her, filmed the entire attack, and published the video for all those in her hometown to see.

And this was not the end of Rayah’s nightmare. Her father beat her for bringing public shame on their family.

Rayah had to flee, and she was welcomed quietly and quickly into one of our Safe Houses. She needed much more than safe shelter. She needed hope after being brutalized and rejected by her own family and community. We were grateful to provide biblical counseling and discipleship to her during her stay.

LIFE ABUNDANT AMID CRISES

2021 Annual Report

COVID-19The Global Network Against Food Crisis, an alliance of United Nations and partner agencies, cautioned that the COVID-19 pandemic could lead to 265 million people — 43 million in the Middle East — suffering from “acute food insecurity, which requires urgent food, nutrition, and livelihoods assis-tance for survival,” that is, a food crisis.

Our Field Ministry Team on the ground in these areas confirms these reports to be true ... and paints an even more harrowing picture for persecuted

believers. For our persecuted brothers and sisters, the hostility, isolation, and violence experienced daily have been exponentially increased by the con-tinuing after-effects of COVID-19.

By God’s grace, we were uniquely positioned to intervene and make a life-saving difference for so many as the global pandemic ripped through the countries where we serve ... leaving mass economic, social, and physical destruction in its wake. We must continue our efforts to provide immediate help and hope ... as well as long-term support and discipleship.

Our Response: Emergency Relief KitsAt the onset of the global pandemic, we pivoted and focused our ministry on meeting emergency needs for food, medical care, and encouragement to persecuted Christians in crisis.

Emergency Relief Kits delivered in fiscal year 2021!

7,100+These kits provide a family of four with:

Critical food: rice, flour, oil,

and other basic supplies for

survival

Bibles and other discipleship materials for

encouragement and hope

This house is 200 years old, and it has witnessed everything. From the civil war, the economic crisis, COVID, the blast, and everything in between. This house, however, never witnessed such kindness and care as you showed us today! Thank you for the Christ that lives inside you. —Lebanon

“Yesterday we went to sleep hungry. We prayed, and today you are bringing us food.” —Syrian Refugee

“My own family walked out on me and left me to die. You took me in and cared for me like they never did. You are my family now.” —Lebanon

Our Help The Persecuted team visited Faten and her family, providing an Emergency Relief Kit with an audio Bible for them. Faten shared, “This is the first time we listened to the Word of God! After the war in Iraq, we did not have a Bible to read from. You have given us everything!”

LIFE ABUNDANT AMID CRISESOn August 4, 2020, a large blast, the largest non-nuclear explosion in history, shook the port city of Beirut, Lebanon. Many people died or were injured, and over 300,000 people were left homeless.

Page 11: of a worldwide pandemic, the fear of hunger and death S

Beirut ExplosionOur Field Ministry Team in Lebanon moved into action immediately — and have not stopped. They expanded our reach by hiring persecuted believers helped previously by our ministry. This gave these believers employment and an opportunity to give back — and allowed Help The Persecuted to serve more people.

Since the devastating explosion, with your help, we have ministered to more than 6,600 people, by:

Helping rebuild more than 600 homes.

Providing medical assistance, Emergency Relief Kits, temporary housing, and living expenses.

Offering pastoral care to those affected.

Starting 25 small groups for 150 new believers and those

seeking Christ.

As we know, nothing is too hard for the Lord, and He is always at work. He has brought many to salvation through this crisis, and our team is so grateful to have played a part in that process.

After ISIS decimated the Iraqi town of Qaraqosh, near Mosul, God opened the door for us to renovate property and build a Ministry Center. After just over two years in operation, our Iraq Ministry Center is thriving ...

Helping victims of ISIS through trauma counseling.

Equipping people through English- language and computer literacy classes.

Educating children in preschool.

Guiding young people through ministry camps.

Supporting families with food for survival.

Discipling new believers and encouraging spiritual growth in the community.

Our ministry programs at the Center were very impactful this year, despite the challenge of COVID-19 and the restrictions it brought. Around 25% of the town of Qaraqosh has received physical support and ministry from our staff at the Center.

With God’s help, and yours, the Iraq Ministry Center stands as a beautiful testimony of faith and perseverance. Prayerfully, it will be used by God to rescue lives and build a flourishing Church body in Iraq for years to come — filled with the abundant life only He gives!

We heard recently from one grateful resident who shared that her parents had just passed away due to COVID-19, but they had come to faith through our outreach following the explosion. In her grief, she was joyful because they had found eternal life in Christ.

LIFE ABUNDANT THROUGH SAFE HOUSING

A sanctuary, a reprieve, a clean, hidden, secure location to heal, be encouraged,

restored, and rebuild a broken life.

This is what you provide through every Safe House we operate, furnish, and

maintain. It’s more than a roof over the head of a person or family on the run.

More than a bed, couch, sink, and stove. It’s life-saving, tangible hope, the oppor-tunity to start a new life. Thank you for

making these homes a reality.

In this fiscal year:

Mustafa’s story ...When Mustafa’s father learned of his conversion to Christianity, he immediately began to harass Mustafa and put pressure on him to renounce his faith in Jesus. But this did not stop Mustafa! He even led his cousin, Ali, to the Lord.

As the days passed, Mustafa’s torture grew more severe. His father violently broke all the fingers on both hands. He was locked in his room without food, and his passport was taken. His brothers hanged him from the ceiling fan for long periods of time. They shouted and yelled at him to say the Islamic confession of faith. He refused and silently prayed to escape from persecution.

Likewise, Ali was threatened and attacked by his family. He became dejected and began to succumb to pressure from his family.

Mercifully, Mustafa’s sister would sneak small bites of food to him and helped him call our Field Team Member, Nabeel, in Iraq. Mustafa was becoming very ill from the abuse by his family and pleaded with Nabeel for help and comfort.

While Mustafa’s family was away at a wedding for the day, Mustafa and Ali finally had the opportunity they needed to escape from persecution and find their passports. Our local team moved swiftly to pick them up and rescue them to our Safe House in Iraq.

There, our team addressed their immediate physical needs, like food, tending to wounds, supplying clothing, and haircuts. Our team spent time praying with them and encouraging them during this momentous point in their journey.

Knowing they had to get out of Iraq quickly, many members of our Field Ministry Team mobilized across

countries to secure airplane tickets, airport pickups, and hotel rooms to make sure they could travel safely out of Iraq. Everyone breathed a big sigh of relief as the plane took off for a neighboring country!

They are now living in our Safe House, and Ali already has a job locally, as Mustafa continues receiving medical care for advanced malnutrition. Ali says: “This is my first time worshiping in a church. I am beyond thankful that we were able to escape and be with you! I can rest assured that Jesus Christ has my future secured for me. This is the happiest I have ever been.”

Pray with us that they would heal physically and emotionally from all they have endured. Pray for wisdom for our team as they disciple and minister to them. Pray that as they rest at our Safe House and find stability in their new homeland, God will give them joy and hope for their future.

A VISION FOR GROWTH AND INCREASED IMPACT

In the days ahead, we will:RESCUE more believers facing imminent danger. RESTORE more believers to full physical, emotional, and spiritual health. REBUILD more lives, empowering them to thrive as disciples of Christ in hostile places — reaching at least 150,000 persecuted believers in the coming years. We truly believe that the more persecuted believers are built up, the more stable the entire region will become, and the more God will be glorified!

Our Vision

A world where the persecuted

Church endures, flourishes, and

multiplies in hostile places.

We are strategically expanding our proven approach. It has been a privilege to support Iranian refugees in Turkey, and our team has been strategically planning for our growth deeper into Iran. Chris-tians are persecuted primarily by the government, which views conversion from Islam as an attempt to undermine Islamic rule, but also by their families and communities. Secret churches are often raided, and their leaders and members have been arrested and given long prison sentences for “crimes against national security.”

Afghanistan has been a country in crisis for many years, but the situation deteriorated quickly this year. Converts to Christianity faced increasing danger as the crisis unfolded, and many have fled their homes. We will be expanding our ministry to this group of displaced, persecuted refugees by supporting their needs for housing, living expenses, medical assistance, and trauma care.

We are providing persecuted Christians with stability, dignity, and a way forward by enabling them to start small businesses to generate a family income and thrive in a new life.

We more than doubled our investment in this area in the past year and plan to continue expanding this life-changing initiative. Our Enduring Livelihood program includes:

Job skills training for new work opportunities — sewing, computer use and maintenance, appliance repair, farming, animal husbandry, and more.

Supporting the creation of small businesses — inten-sive training to improve skills and the development of business plans, as well as the provision of grants to start or develop a small business.

Helping persecuted believers grow and deepen their faith is a distinct and vitally important element of our model to Restore and Rebuild lives. We are developing new digital curricula to be used by our Field Ministry Team as they mentor leaders and minister to, encourage, and bolster the faith of new converts fleeing from persecution.

Many new believers experience severe persecution as soon as they receive Christ. They may struggle to grow in their new faith or even begin to under-stand the decision they have made for Christ while fighting for their lives. Once we’ve rescued the persecuted, we are determined to help them build up their faith, so they can move forward, ready for challenges and living the abundant Christian life.

In addition to increasing our number of Safe Houses in key areas of need, adding staff members to our Field Ministry Team, and responding rapidly, as needed, in crisis situations, here are some of the key areas of growth we’ve identified:

Thank you for Sharing in Life AbundantThank you for every life rescued. Every family placed in safety and restored. Every business and livelihood rebuilt ... to give God’s people in hostile places a fighting chance at survival. Opportunities to grow in faith and be encouraged. The prospect of a hopeful, peace-filled, joyful abundant life in Christ!

It’s not just for the persecuted believer that we exist. It’s also for you. How else would you know of specific needs in places hostile to the Gospel? How else could you fulfill God’s call to reach out to the “least

of these” with hope and help? We are the bridge, the liaison between you and those who need your prayers and support most. God gives us the ideas, the methods, and the access to make a difference, but you empower our work!

Please do not give up this fight on behalf of our persecuted brothers and sisters. We are determined to stay the course and ask for your continued participation in prayer and giving.
