What is the OERB?

The Ontario Educational Resource Bank is an online learning object repository where teachers, students, and parents (Kindergarten to Grade 12) can access thousands of teaching/learning resources. Within the OERB you will find lesson plans, videos, activities, maps and interactive multimedia in a variety of formats that can be used to support classroom instruction. All available resources are searchable by grade level, course/subject, strand, curriculum expectation, key word, learning style, and file format.

Who created the resources found in the OERB?

Everything was created by Ontario certified teachers; much of the has been created by teachers seconded to eLearning specifically to create online courses ( identified as eLO authored), but any teacher can upload and share resources they have created.

Why use the resources found in the OERB?

• To find lessons or whole units you can use “as is” or modify as needed • To find multi-media activities to use with your entire class via a projector or Smartboard to supplement your instruction • To differentiate instruction for a particular student or group of students who require varied levels of activities•To differentiate instruction for any student or group of students who require additional visual, auditory and/or interactive activities•To find lessons that can be completed by students who are away (lengthy illness, holiday, etc.) but who have access to the internet

Simple SearchThis search option allows users to search by keyword or ELO Resource Number. Users can also use this option to search for entire units of materials. Simply enter the course code, using Ministry coding, followed by the words ‘entire unit’ (e.g. MPM2D entire unit).

Browse By CurriculumThis search option allows users to locate resources tagged to a specific grade, subject/course, strand, and overall expectation. Yielded search results can then be further narrowed using the OERB search filters and/or keyword search.

Advanced SearchThis search option allows users to set their own search parameters. Using dropdown menus, users can search by keyword, title, author, resource type, file format, description, ELO resource number, learning style, and/or grade.

eLO Course UnitsThe OERB gives teachers access to all e-Learning Ontario online credit course materials. Using this search option, users can search for entire units of study and activities by grade and course code.
