KINDS OF LONG TERM PROBLEMS Primary (Primary): Teams present performances that revolve around a
specific theme and incorporate required elements
Mechanical/Vehicle (Problem 1): Teams design, build and operate vehicles of various sizes and with various power sources
Technical (Problem 2): Teams make innovative contraptions and incorporate artistic elements into their solutions
Classics (Problem 3): Teams write and perform skit based upon the classics -- from literature to architecture to art
Structure (Problem 4): Teams design and build structures using only balsa wood and glue which are weight tested
Performance (Problem 5): Teams present performances that revolve around a specific theme and incorporate required elements 6

SEQUENCE OF EVENTS Parents/students attend orientation (September 12th, 2017) Students enrollments, Deadline October 6th, 2017 Students choose problem/coaches volunteer Teams are formed ( 5-7 students per team) Meetings held (October through January) Team register for competition (January) Teams practice/dry run (Nov-Feb) Teams compete at Regional level (February 24th, 2018 )

REQUIREMENTS All interested students must complete registration form and pay $35
registration fee by: OCTOBER 6th , 2017. 1. Teams regional competition registrations 2. Coach training (long term)3. Spontaneous workshop training for coach4. Teams T-shirts5. State competition fee (for teams who advance to state)
PTO paid membership (yearly dues of $20). PTO membership can be paid at: https://nlepto.ptboard.com/home.
Coaches (Long term and Spontaneous) Judges and Volunteers (one from each team)PLEASE NOTE: OotM is a 100% parent volunteer program, without
parent volunteers to coach, teams can not be formed.

TEAM FORMATION
Based on students Problem selection (1st or 2nd )
NOTE: We can not guarantee placement of any student on a team unless
that student’s parent or guardian is a coach.

Regional Tournament Registration: Early January Judges’ Training: Feb 10th, 2018
Mandatory training for ALL judges on current season problems.
Regional Competition: February 24, 2018 (snow Date: March 17th 2018) State Competition: April 14th, 2018 World Finals: May 23-26, 2018

IN CONCLUSION
OOTM is an excellent program given benefits realized.
An OOTM program is only limited by the number of coaches available.
Students who compete are all winners no matter where they place in competition.
