Trustees to meet with presidential
candidates during special meetings
Twenty-seven students recently completed Southern State Community College’s Your Place program, which assists individuals-in-transi-tion—single parents, displaced homemakers, single pregnant women and anyone who needs to develop new skills in order to earn a livable wage due to divorce, disability, unemploy-ment or underemploy-ment—in achieving their goals of education and/or employment.
Your Place program classes emphasize self esteem, goal setting, de-cision making, commu-nication skills, conflict resolution, time/stress management, budget-ing, parenting skills and more.Your Place/Cont’d on Page 2

The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will hold special meetings 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, and 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in Room 149 of the college’s Fayette Campus, 1270 U.S. Route 62 SW, Washington C.H. During the two special meet-ings, the board plans to go in to ex-ecutive session for the purpose of interviewing 10 applicants for the position of president of Southern State Community College. The trustees will then meet for a regularly scheduled board meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the Community Center of the college’s Fayette Campus. The meeting is open to the public. The board of trustees will invite finalists (selected from the 10 inter-viewed Oct. 13 and 14) to participate in more extensive on-campus inter-views with a broad range of college constituents, including faculty, ad-ministration, staff and students. Current president Sherry A. Stout, Ph.D., has announced her plan to retire effective Dec. 31, 2009. Dr. Stout has served Southern State since its founding in 1975, most recently as the college’s fourth president.

Aside from gathering talent from other parts of the country, the College is proud to have its own talented entertainment pool. Musicians, singers, entertainers, actors, and actresses from here in southern Ohio often showcase their gifts through exhibitions, theatrical performances, concerts, and other events sponsored by the College. A team of qualified and dedicated faculty and staff members are instrumental in providing these opportunities for students to demonstrate their talents while also providing a valuable source of entertainment to the community.
