It is feared that this
will be one of the
last chances to have
Mihran talk to auto
enthusiasts as he is
now living in a nurs-
ing facility that will
be his final residence.
Both Tioga Region
and Iroquois Region
will have a brief busi-
ness meeting before
the featured appear-
ance of Mihran.
The October meet-
ing of Tioga Region
will be a joint meet-
ing with Iroquois Re-
gion. We will meet at
the Susquehanna
Nursing Home on
Riverside Drive in
Johnson City. The
date is October 15,
2014 at 7:00PM. This
will be the third in a
series of meetings
that will feature Mi-
hran Melkonian (I
am sure that I have
murdered his name).
This individual has a
remarkable knowl-
edge of the history
of the automobile
not only in the triple
cities but in the USA.
In the past he has
spoken of the auto-
mobile dealers of the
southern tier, the
cars that he has
owned some of
which were automo-
biles that we now
call classics. This
meeting he will be
talking about the
founding fathers of
the automobile,
some of whom he
has met and talked
with.
Mihran had one of
the most extensive
collections of auto-
mobilia in United
States. This collection
is now being cata-

What’s Next? It has now been about
three years since
George Simon first
came to me with the
idea of a consolidation
of Iroquois, Onaquaga,
and Tioga Regions. As
most of you are now
aware, Onaquaga Re-
gion is now, for all in-
tents and purpose, non-
existent.
You also all know that
there has been a vote
by the members of both
Tioga and Iroquois Re-
gions concerning the
consolidation. The vote,
as you all have been in-
formed, resulted in a
three to one decision in
favor of the merger in
both Regions.
Now begins the major
job of organizing our
new and expanded Re-
gion representing all of
the area within a fifty
mile radius of Broome/
Tioga locations. This is a
major undertaking that
will encompass a year
or more of dedi-
cated work.
To begin the con-
solidation we are in
the process of or-
ganizing a team of
members from the
two regions who
will research the
requirements of
not only the AACA
National organiza-
tion as well as full
legal requirements
of our state and lo-
cal governments.
The team members
from Tioga Region
are Joe Vaglica,
Brett Nichols, and
myself, with How-
ard Seymour, who
holds duel mem-
bership in Tioga and
Iroquois Regions, as
a non-voting advi-
sor. Our reason for
Howard’s designa-
tion as advisor is
that he will not be
in residence during
the winter months
and as such will not
be able to attend the
required monthly
meetings of the con-
solidation committee.
The members of Iro-
quois Region on the
committee are
George Simon, Frank
Whitney, and an as
yet to be named
third party. It is the
hope of Iroquois Re-
gion that a woman
from their region will
agree to fill the third
member position.
The duties of the
consolidation com-
mittee are not fully
defined at this time
as the full scope of
consolidation is still
somewhat unknown.
Remember this ap-
pears to be the first
time in the history of
AACA that two Re-
gions have attempted
to consolidate.

some members of
both regions who have
threatened to resign if
the consolidation
takes place. It is the
hope of all members
and leaders of the two
regions that those in
disagreement remain
with us to help make
this a better organiza-
tion for the total car
community,. We feel
that without this
merger there will not
be a strong represen-
tation of our hobby in
the southern tier
within a very few
years.
It is difficult for any of
us to look at the 30
year history of Tioga
Region and not feel a
loss if there is not a
Tioga Region next
year or the next. Re-
member that there is
also a 60 year history
for Iroquois Region,
they also will feel such
a loss.
Although there is still a lot
of time for us to decide on
the name for our new re-
gion, we have to admit that
the naming of our region is
something to be considered
still far into the future.
The more important issues
are a smooth and efficient
transition into the future
organization, a selection of
competent leadership, a
comprehensive recruiting of
interested new members,
and a co-operation be-
tween all persons involved
in both our regions.
The future of our hobby is
not in divisions but in inclu-
sions. You need to voice
your concerns to the con-
solidation committee if we
are to succeed!
We need your support and
your input. It is our duty to
make the new club exactly
the club you will be proud
to belong to!!!!
New bylaws have to
be created, meeting
locations need to be
found, a nominating
committee created,
and of course the sug-
gestions of all mem-
bers of both regions
compiled and consid-
ered.
Decisions as to activi-
ties social events, and
funding all need to be
considered. Remember
this will be your car
club and as such the
direction we will be
taking will be dictated
by the consensus of all
members.
We acknowledge that
there are some of our
existing members of
Tioga Region who are
opposed to this
merger as there are
members of Iroquois
Region also in opposi-
tion. We have even
heard that there are
