hope that in the future we can come upwith ways to continue to supporttheir goal of a wheelchair for anyone thatneeds it. Again, Thank You one and allfor your efforts at the show and yourcontinued support. The wine tour for this year is going tohave to be put on hold for the month ofOct. We were trying to make a veryspecial outing come together for you thisyear. A gentleman that has a winery inthe Napa-Sonoma area had mentionedthrough one of our members that hewould be interested in hosting a tastingand possibly a luncheon for our club, butwe have not been able to complete thearrangements because of some ongoingbusiness concerns that involve hiswinery. It may be due to the fact that thecrush season was under way when thiswas first mentioned and we have notbeen able to reconnect with one another. Please be patient. We hope to havemore news for you before the nextnewsletter. (Check www.nckcc.com/hotline) Since there is not anything planned forthe month of Nov. I would like to takethis oppertunity to remind you of some ofthe up coming events that will need yourattention. In Dec. we will have our clubSunday brunch at the Pleasanton Hotel. This location went over very well lastyear so it was felt that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!

FROM THE PREZBy Dave Jones

Congratulations!!!!! To each and everyone of you foranother outstanding show! First, let methank all who came with their cars. Without you the show is not possible.Second, I wish to thank all of you thatcame out in support of the show even ifyour car wasn’t finished on time or youare in between projects. Just your beingthere was a great encouragement to therest of us. Last but certainly not least tothose of you who put in so much workbefore, during, and after the show tovolunteer your time and effort to put thisshow togather and make it run assmooth as it did. Congratulations is also in order to all ofyou as a club for the support that yougave to our cause, The WheelchairFoundation. We were able to contributethe total amount of $1,565.67, whichincluded your contributions at thebanquet, donations that were receievedat the gate, and by Dave Coyle of theWheelchair Foundation. Some contribu-tions were sent directly to the club (afterthe show) earmarked for the Wheel-chair Foundation. We were able toexceed our contribution of last year byabout $100 dollars. But that is OK. It isnot necessarily the amount that isimportant, but the fact that you all as agroup cared enough to put forth theeffort to support this fine cause. I only

“WHEELS FORWHEELCHAIRS” --SAN LEANDRO SHOW

By Vern Hance

The show this year was again aimed tobenefit the Wheelchair Foundation andsupport their work of providing wheel-chairs to disabled people around theworld. The response of spectators andexibitors was very generous allowing adirect contribution of $1,371.67 to theFoundation as a result of our show. Inaddition Dave Coyle reported $194.00in direct contributions were received bythe Wheelchair Foundation. So we cansay our show provided them $1,565.67(just short of 21 wheelchairs).

The weather was pretty nice Saturdayand Sunday with morning cloudy skiesand wind in the afternoon. We had 59cars registered this year including 14Cobras, 7 Mercedes, 6 Ferraris, 5Porsches, 2 Fords (Vintage ‘29 & ‘50),3 Sterlings, 2 Tomahawks, 2 StreetRods and a host of other unique andspecial cars such as Bugatti, Gatsby,GTM, ZR-2 and Finale. We were verypleased to have exhibitors and specta-tors from many of the Western States.Alan Phillips (Finale) came from Idaho,Al Bohr and DanBurrill from Oregonand AHA members from Southern

Also coming up are the officer electionsin the month of Jan. Hopefully we canget the room at the Bering Auto Museumagain to hold these elections and to haveour planning meeting for next yearsevents. Just start thinking now aboutbecoming involved in this processbecause if you have ideas that wouldbenefit this club and you would like toimplement these ideas into action then Iencourage you to become a club officer. If you think we can improve the waythings are being done, I also highlysuggest that you become a club officer. Ihave found through experience that youcan bring more ideas to the table whenyou work as a club officer than just beingone of the members. People WILL tellyou what their likes and dislikes are butmany do not want to become involved. But I feel they are missing the pointabout being in a club. You really do havea say in what goes on when you becomeINVOLVED! So please think about itnow so that we can have a fine choice ofcandidates in January. That’s all for now. But before I close Iwould again like to Thank You all for aGREAT 25th Anniversary Show. Anythoughts for the future please E-mail me,<[email protected]>, with your

thoughts or suggestions.

vard racer, was entered by GeorgeTodd of GT Inovations and tookhome the Manufacturer Award. Atotally new car was the Merlin, aFerrari inspired car, based on a Z-car, and designed by Merlyn Cofanoin Petaluma, CA and shown by EdPizzuti of PK Designs.

One car, only shown on Saturday, which I thought it was noteworthywas called the “K1 Evoluzione”. Itwas shown by Mario Botello of ElSobrante and is reportedly aCzechoslovak design applied to alate model Camero. (Picture on thispage)

Our late Saturday “Snack & Bever-age Time”, that preceeded thebanquet, was held at the nearbyMarina Inn in our private banquetroom. The banquet was attended by74 people, the largest turnout in ourhistory. The raffle prizes wereplentiful and gave everyone anexcellent chance of being a winner.

We want to thank Leanne Jones,Show Chairperson, for her work thatmade this show a success andexpress our appreciation for themany members who worked atvarious assignments to make it allhappen. And, of course, above all ahuge thanks to those who broughttheir cars. The feed back I got saysthe show was appreciated by all.
