  • OCR Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) (Level 3)

    Duration: 5 - 7 days intensive training (or study at your own pace by undertaking blended learning or distance learning) OVERVIEW Whether you are an existing or prospective trainer, teacher or lecturer delivering programmes to learners over the age of 16, PTLLS (level 3) provides the generic skills needed to plan, prepare and deliver effective sessions. The programme also gives an insight into assessment strategies to use with different kinds of learners and to adjust teaching, learning and assessment strategies to meet their individual needs. PTLLS (level 3) is a widely accepted teaching qualification. It demonstrates that lecturers or trainers are competent to use tools and techniques to plan, prepare, deliver and assess a course based on their specialism. Participants who successfully complete PTLLS (level 3) can progress on to CTLLS and DTLLS. PTLLS (level 3) is an OCR qualification. OCR is one of the largest awarding organisations in the UK. Before commencing the PTLLS (level 3) programme, participants will be provided with a recommended reading list. Participants will be expected to purchase their own textbooks for the programme.

    UNITS Unit 4: Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning. Unit 7: Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in lifelong learning. Unit 9: Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in lifelong learning. Unit 14: Principles of assessment in lifelong learning.

    CONTENT

    ASSESSMENT This course will be assessed using written assignments, role play, production of teaching documentation (such as schemes of work, lesson plans, Individual Learning Plans), presentations and a micro-teach.

    ENTRY CRITERIA Age 19 + Participants will be asked to complete an initial assessment to identify their skills in English, mathematics and ICT and complete a development plan. There are no other formal entry requirements.
