  • Orange Blossom Festival (OBF) will be a weekend full of family fun, showcasing what the Hills Community has to offer. Some of the events, displays and activities already locked in for the two-day festival include the OBF Art Awards, a classic car and bike display, rides, face painting, circus works, wildlife display and reptile show, Kids Music Fest, markets, a pop up library, a petting zoo and a community stage featuring local performances from local dance and music schools and performance groups.

    The Hills Shire Council has established the OBF School Competition to engage children from pre-school through to Year 9. We have 4 different Competition Categories for each age group which has been specified below.

    All submissions from Pre-School to Year 6, will be displayed at CircaRetail Shopping Centre, Bella Vista prior to OBF. From there, finalists will be chosen by a Council Representative of The Hills Shire and displayed in our Education Pavilion at OBF. The winning entries and school will be announced on the Community Stage on Saturday 19th September.

    PRE-SCHOOLColouring in Competition with the top 30 entries will be shortlisted and displayed at OBF in the Education Pavillion.Prize: ‘Funtastic Party’ at Lollipops Playland, Castle Hill for eight children, valued at $250. Plus one Kids Ultimate Pack valued at $125—sponsored by CircaRetail, Bella Vista.

    YEARS K-3Colouring in Competition with the top 30 entries will be shortlisted and displayed at OBF in the Education Pavillion.Prize: ‘Funtastic Party’ at Lollipops Playland, Castle Hill for eight children, valued at $250. Plus one Kids Ultimate Pack valued at $125—sponsored by CircaRetail, Bella Vista.

    YEARS 4-6Design your own OBF poster which will be used in 2016 to promote the event. The top 30 entries will be shortlisted and displayed at OBF in the Education Pavillion. The poster must include the following elements: • The OBF ‘O’• A tag line which the Student is to come up with• Event Location: Castle Hill Showground• Hashtags #OBF #ZestFestPrize: Event Cinema Mega Pack which includes ten children’s movie passes and one small popcorn and drink per child, valued at $250. Plus one iPad Mini, valued at $500 —sponsored by CircaRetail, Bella Vista.

    YEARS 7-9Students are asked to create a 30 second promo video about OBF which is to then be uploaded to Facebook.

    The top 15 videos will be shortlisted and played at OBF in the Education Pavillion. The video is to be uploaded to the Sydney Hills Events Facebook page using #OBF and #ZestFest. The students of the shortlisted videos will be contacted and asked to send the video to Council so that we can show these videos at OBF. Prizes: First Prize—One iPad Mini, valued at $500. Plus one iTunes voucher, valued at $100.Second Prize—One iTunes voucher, valued at $100.Third Prize—One iTunes voucher, valued at $50Sponsored by CircaRetail, Bella Vista.

    OVERALL SCHOOL WINNERThe School with the highest number of students who submit entries into the OBF School Competition will be the winner. Prizes: $1,000 to spend on equipment or supplies needed by your School. Council will purchase the items on behalf of the School.

    The winning school will be announced on the Community Stage on Saturday 19th September. Council will contact the winning school first week back after the school holidays to discuss what your prize choice will be.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATIONPlease ensure you read the Terms & Conditions included in this information pack. This can also be downloaded from www.orangeblossomfestival.com.au All entries can be submitted by posting to Council addressed to the below, or alternatively Council can arrange to have a staff member collect the entries from your School between Monday 31st August and Friday 4th September.

  • ORANGE BLOSSOM FESTIVAL SCHOOL COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    1. By allowing an Eligible Child to participate in the Competition, the Parent/Guardian agrees to these Terms

    and Conditions. 2. To participate in the Competition, an Eligible Child must submit an Eligible Entry during the Competition

    Period. 3. An Eligible Child may only enter the Competition once during the Competition Period. 4. The Competition is only open to Eligible Children. 5. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the eligibility of any Eligible Child (including an

    Eligible Child’s identity, age and School) and to disqualify an Eligible Child if that Eligible Child or the Parent/Guardian does not comply strictly with Terms and Conditions or tampers with the entry process. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible entries will be deemed invalid. If requested by the Promoter, a Parent/Guardian must provide the Promoter with evidence of the Eligible Child’s eligibility. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its right at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

    6. All submissions must be received by The Hills Shire Council before 4:00pm on Monday 31st August 2015. 7. Each Eligible Entry will be entered into the Competition. 8. To enter the Competition, the Eligible Child must:

    A. Complete an Official Competition Template for their age category including; Colouring In Template for Pre-School and Years K-3; Poster Template for Years 4-6; and Entry Form for Years 7-9.

    B. The Eligible Entry must contain the Eligible Child’s full name, age and School and the signature of their Parent/Guardian.

    The Prize

    9. There will be one first prize for the following ages or categories; Pre-School, K-3, 4-6. There will be one first, one second and one third prize for category 7-9.

    10. The Prize is not transferable, refundable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. 11. The Prize winner will be the Eligible Child who submits the best Eligible Entry as determined by the

    Promoter or its delegate at its discretion. The Prize winner will be selected on 19th September 2015. 12. The Promoter will reasonably endeavour to notify the Prize winner by telephone call to their participating

    School if the Eligible Child is not at Orange Blossom Festival at the time of announcement. 13. If, despite all reasonable endeavours the Promoter is unable to locate or contact the Prize winner within

    three weeks after the Prize winner is decided, another Prize winner will be selected and any subsequent winner will be notified in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

    14. The Promoter may, but is not obliged to, publish the results of the Competition. By entering into this Competition the Parent/Guardian gives their consent for their personal details and the personal details of the Eligible Child to be published if they are a winner.

    15. The Promoter’s decision as to the winner of the Prize is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into in relation to the conduct of the Competition or otherwise.

    16. Winners will be announced on Saturday 19th September 2015 at the Orange Blossom Festival and the winner’s Eligible Entry will be displayed at the Orange Blossom Festival in the Education Pavilion at Castle Hill Showground and on www.orangeblossomfestival.com.au.

    17. The Promoter does not accept any responsibility or liability for any variation in the value of the prize.

  • General Terms 18. The Promoter shall not be liable (including, without limitation, in negligence) for:

    A. Any loss or damage whatsoever that is suffered (including, but not limited to, indirect or consequential loss); or

    B. Any personal injury suffered or during the course of participating in this Competition, except for and to the extent that any liability cannot be excluded by law.

    19. The Parent/Guardian indemnifies and keeps indemnified, the Promoter against all claims, losses, damages, costs and expenses suffered or incurred by the Promoter Entities or any third parties arising out of the breach of these Terms and Conditions by the Parent/Guardian or the Eligible Child, the conduct of the Parent/Guardian or the Eligible Child in the Competition, or the use by the Parent/Guardian or the Eligible Child of the Prize.

    20. If this Competition is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law and subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority (if any) to: A. Disqualify any Parent/Guardian or Eligible Child; and/or B. Modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Competition as appropriate

    21. The Promoter acknowledges that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.

    22. A complete release of Facebook by each Eligible Child and Parent/Guardian.

    Privacy 23. Under the Privacy Act 1998 (Cth), the promoter must tell Parent/Guardian when it collects personal

    information about the Parent/Guardian or Eligible Child and how it plans to use it. If a Parent/Guardian allows an Eligible Child to enter or take part in the Competition, the Parent/Guardian will be required to provide the Promoter with details about the Eligible Child’s name, age and School.

    24. Eligible Children, being under 16 years of age, must obtain the consent of their Parent or Guardian to enter the Competition and provide personal information including their name, age and School. An Eligible Entry will be deemed invalid of the Eligible Child does not provide the required parental consent.

    25. The Promoter will collect and use the personal information which the Parent/Guardian has provided about the Eligible Child for the purpose of carrying out the Competition.

    26. By allowing an Eligible Child to participate in the Competition, a Parent/Guardian consents to the collection and use of his or her information and the information of the Eligible Child in the manner outlined in these Terms and Conditions.

    27. If a Parent/Guardian would prefer that the Promoter does not use the Eligible Child’s details in the way outlined in these Terms and Conditions and/or retain their details, the Parent/Guardian should contact the Promoter on 02 9843 0112.

    28. A Parent/Guardian has the right to access most personal information which the Promoter holds about the Eligible Child. A Parent/Guardian may contact the Promoter on 02 9843 0112 to ask for access to the Eligible Child’s information, or if the Parent/Guardian has a complaint concerning an Eligible Child’s information privacy. The Promoter may deny the Parent/Guardian’s request for access in some circumstances. If the Promoter does this, it will provide the Parent/Guardian with reasoning.

    29. If a Parent/Guardian considers that any information that the Promoter holds about the Eligible Child is inaccurate or if at any time the Eligible Child’s details change, the Parent/Guardian may contact the Promoter on 02 9843 0112 and the Promoter will take reasonable steps to ensure that such information is correct.

  • 30. The Promoter will take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure from misuse, loss or unauthorised use or disclosure. Definitions

    31. “Official Competition Templates,” “Colouring In Template,” “Poster Template” and “Entry Form” means the official Orange Blossom Festival Schools Competition documents.

    32. “Competition” means the opportunity to be selected as the winner of the Prize in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

    33. “Competition Period” means the period from 9am Monday 13th July 2015, to 4pm Monday 31st August 2015.

    34. “Eligible Entry” means submitting an Official Competition Template in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. Entrants will be uniquely identified by their name, age and school.

    35. “Eligible Child” and “Eligible Children” means a child who: A. Is younger than 16 years of age as at 13th July 2015; B. Has the consent of their Parent or Guardian to enter the competition; C. Is an Australian Residents; D. Is not a Non-Eligible Person and whose Parent or Guardian is not a Non-Eligible Person; and E. Submits an Eligible Entry.

    36. “Non Eligible Person” A. over the age of 16 B. from a School outside of The Hills Shire Local Government Area

    37. “Parent/Guardian” means the parent or guardian of an Eligible Child who gave consent for that Eligible Child to participate in the Competition.

    38. “Prize” means A. Pre-School:

    i. ‘Funtastic Party’ at Lollipops Playland, Castle Hill for eight children, valued at $250. Plus one Kids Ultimate Pack valued at $125.

    B. K-3: i. ‘Funtastic Party’ at Lollipops Playland, Castle Hill for eight children, valued at $250. Plus a Kids

    Ultimate Pack valued at $125. C. 4-6:

    i. Event Cinema Mega Pack which includes ten children’s movie passes and one small popcorn and drink per child, valued at $250. Plus one iPad Mini, valued at $500.

    D. 7-9: i. First Prize; One iPad Mini, valued at $500. Plus one iTunes voucher, valued at $100.

    ii. Second Prize; One iTunes voucher, valued at $100. iii. Third Prize; iTunes voucher, valued at $50.

    E. Overall School: i. $1000 to spend on equipment or supplies needed by the School. Prize will be purchased by the
