Droid Programming www.oasismatters.com OASIS Lab [email protected] Session 1: In Session 1 we will learn about what Droids are and how they are used in our world. We'll also split into groups to imagine and design a robot to assist us in a task of our choosing. We'll also have some presentations and cap the session with some droid driving time. Session 2: Session 2 is an introduction to programming. What is it and why is it important? We’ll boil down a very complex subject into the fundamental principles that will serve as a foundation for future exploration. Programming and “coding” are terms that are often used interchangeably but in today’s class we’ll discuss how they are related to each other. We’ll also complete an interactive activity that will give us a deeper understanding of what it means to “program.” Learn the basics of programming and robotics using Sphero Mini. This labs introduces learners to the fundamentals of programming by engaging their sense of play and competition. Over 4 hours, we'll learn what programming is and how we can use it to command robots, computers, and even humans to do our bidding! Packed with hours of "out-your-seat" activities, this lab will awaken the tiny programmer or roboticists in your young learners. Description: Session 3: In this session we will have some fun by racing our Droids using the driving function. Then we’ll jump into programming our Droids using Sphero EDU app. We will work in groups to build an obstacle course for our droids to traverse. Finally, we will have a programming competition where the goal is to get through our obstacle course in the shortest amount of time. Session 4: In this session we will have a programming competition where the goal is to get through our obstacle course in the shortest amount of time. Teams will work together to build and complete their obstacle course in the shortest amount of time. Session Overviews: Topics: Copyright 2019 Delivery: FREE The lab includes four 1-hour sessions over four weeks. The lab is designed to be delivered to a group(s) of 16 -20 youth. Requires internet access and a television or projector to play videos in class. Registration is required online at social.oasismatters.com.
