Secret or not, their membership continues to grow – so much so that a second, 3,000-square-foot satellite facility recently opened in Discovery Bay.

“Matt has a passion and a love for that community, so his vision has always been to build something out there,” said McCaslin, who is also a Discovery Bay resident. “We did open up that location for the conve-nience’s sake of the members who live out there. It really is for your basic needs member. There’s no childcare, no group exercise classes available. It really is just for the person looking to get in and get out. It’s got a great feel, and we staff it full time.”

The Discovery Bay facility offers state-of-the-art fitness equipment, personal training, massage services, free weights, private bathrooms and complimentary towels. If demand presents itself, Delta Valley may con-tinue expansion into the adjacent building which would provide an ad-ditional 3,000 square feet.

If you live in and around Brent-

wood and are looking for more am-menities, the original Delta Valley location boasts 55,000 square feet and offers members a complete health club and spa experience.

“We don’t consider ourselves a gym,” said McCaslin. “It has more of a campus feeling, and it really is a gor-geous facility. We really do have some-thing for everyone.”

Available in the main build-ing are two racquetball courts; three free weight areas, including a private women’s area; a golf simulator; a full-sized basketball/volleyball court that can also accommodate baseball train-ing; cardio equipment; group fitness studios; rock climbing wall; sauna and steam room and spacious locker rooms with complimentary towels and spa toiletries. Tosh’s Karate Studio and Balance Physical Therapy, Inc.

rent space on site, along with an es-thetician and tan specialist, hair styl-ist and a nail salon.

A second facility located right across the parking lot houses an in-door heated lap pool, which is perfect for swim lessons year round, and a colorful, roomy, safe studio and play area just for kids 18 months to 12 years.

In addition to popular classes such as pilates, yoga and Zumba, members may take advantage of unique equip-ment found only at Delta Valley, in-cluding three free-standing Kinesis machines that provide a zero impact exercise routine to help improve bal-ance, strength and flexibility, and Re-alRyder bikes, which offer a realistic take on stationary cycling.

A member turned employee since 2005, McCaslin became a self-described fitness addict after her son turned five. She became dedicated to not only getting in excellent shape, but adopting a healthier lifestyle as well.

“Emotion comes from motion; your life is how you feel,” she said. “Exercise is scary to people who don’t exercise because they think they can’t do it, but you have to get up and move. You’ll feel different.”

The attention to overall wellness and nutrition is a key component of the club. Delta Valley purchased Thin

& Healthy’s Total Solution weight loss and diet program franchise, and now members can incorporate meal plans and advice from a registered dietitian, receive personalized weekly coach-ing, and are given the chance to work one-on-one with a personal trainer monthly.

“You leave with an experience,” said McCaslin. “It’s very important we hire people who are passionate about health, fi tness, overall wellness, and helping and serving the community. When you’re changing people’s lives, you’re changing the way they feel.”

If you’re ready to run and race your way to being more physically fit, sign up for the Bike & Color Run, a 5K run and 24K bike race for individ-uals 5 and up. The event is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 18. A joint effort be-tween Delta Valley and the Delta Sun Times, the event will start and finish at the Delta Valley Athletic Club in Brentwood; transition from bike to run and again from run to bike will be at the new Delta Valley Fitness Center in Discovery Bay. Register online at www.bikeandcolorrun.com.

Delta Valley Athletic Club is lo-cated at 120 Guthrie Lane in Brent-wood and 1520 Discovery Bay Blvd., Suite 100 in Discovery Bay. For more information, visit www.deltavac.com or call 925-240-2990.
