Jennings Gorman and the late Mrs. G. A. Gor¬ man, was married yesterday to Mr. Charles Webb, son of the lato Mr. Charles Henry Webb, at her home, 226 Madison Avenue. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Edmund A. Middleton, of Syracuse. A special altar was erected for the wedding and the decorations consisted of yeiïow chrysanthemums, Southern smilax and green palms. The attend¬ ants were: Mrs. Charles Hill, Mrs. Glad¬ stone McElhiney and Mrs. Irving T. Burdick, who wore frocks of yellow brocade. Their hats were of brown tulle. Mr. William S. K. Wetmore served Mr. Webb's best man and the ushers included the bridegroom's cousin, Colonel Howard Thayer Kings- bury; the bride's cousin, Mr. Edmund A, S. Hunter, of Devon, Pa.; Mr. A. Rene Moen and Mr. George A. Taylor. The bride is a granddaughter of the late Mr. Edmund A. S. Smith and on her father's side is descended from the Price and Jennings families of Paietîeld, Conn. Mr. Webb's father, the late Mr. Charles Henry Webb, was a well known author, humorist and journalist, who for three years was literary editor of "The New York Times" and was affiliated with The Tribune under Horace Greeley and with "The New York Herald." ONE of the leading society and sporting events of the autumnal season will be the annual fall race meet of the Fairfield and West- cheater County Hounds, of which Mr. John McE. Bowman and Mr. Roy Jack¬ son are joint masters, which will take place at Nutbourne Farm, the estate of Mr. James McClenahan, King Street and Harrison Avenue, Port Chester, N. Y., on November 11 at 2 p. m. Lovers of the horse in Fairfield and Westchester counties, which include representatives of the best social fam- ilies, are keenly interested in the com¬ ing event. The committee in charge of the show consists of Mr. Guy Carleton, Mr. Arthur I. Warthon jr., Mr. W. V. C. Ruxton, Mr. Robert Law jr., Mr. Louis W. A purse of $100 will be presented to the winner, $25 to the second and $15 to the third. A bonus of $5 will be paid for each horse finishing in three and a half min¬ utes or less. A purse of $200 and a cup will be presented to the winner in the polo pony event, covering a distance of half a mile on the turf, with $40 and $20 for second and third place, respec¬ tively. Another race will be known as the Blind Brook, which will bring to the post a large field of splendid thorough- bieds. The members' judge of pace trial will not be a race, but a test of pace and horsemanship. It will cover a distance of about a mile and a half. The biggest and most brilliant so¬ cial event of the fall season was a Halloween dance held by the Y. M. C. A. and the Y. W. C. A, in the former's building on Monday evening. The "Y" was beautifully decorated throughout. About 1,800 persons were present. Games were enjoyed under the direc¬ tion of Mrs. George E. Vincent and Mrs. William Hodge. One of the features was "The Cham¬ ber of Horror«," in charge of Miss Donson* and-a corps of "Y" girls. Danc¬ ing in the gymnasium was under the leadership of Miss Mary Lanier. Mr. W. J. It was attended by almost all of the prominent debutantes of the season. The affair, which was called "A Dark Horse Stable Dance" and was practi¬ cally a duplicate of the dance given a year ago by the same men, was held in return for the many courtesies ex¬ tended to the "bacheiora" during the last year. Needlework Guild Plans To G»et Clothing for TSeedy The Needlework Guild, of which Mis« Grace Bigelow, of 21 Gramcrey Park, is the the president, will begin Wednesday collecting upward of 35,000 articles of new wearing apparel which will be distributed to the needy of New York through recognized charities. The collections will be made by 8,000 members and wiil be sent to the soci¬ ety's headquarters at 8 Ea«t Forty- ninth Street. One week from Tuesday afternoon the guild will give an exhibition at the Heckscher Foundation building, 104th Street and Fifth Avenue, of tho articles collected.
