THE CHALLENGE Making the transition back to civilian life and civilian work environments after serving in the military can be a difficult challenge, especially for the newer and younger generation of servicemen and women who were deployed several times to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The lack of access to adequate transitional counseling and services presents many with daunting challenges, such as finding employment, adjusting to the social environment of the civilian world, and rejoining civilian society can seem impossible to our nation’s heroes, as many are ill-equipped to handle and, in most cases, are unwilling (or don’t know how) to seek assistance to address.

“Our Mission is to Help Veterans Successfully Transition From The

Battlefront to the Homefront.”

National Veterans Transition Services, Inc. 4007 Camino Del Rio South, Suite 203, San Diego Ca 92108 Phone: 619-822-2701 Fax:866-535-7624 Email: [email protected] Web: www.rebootworkshop.vet

"ʺThe  present  structure  of  the  military  really  requires

intensive  training  on  the  front  end  (requiring)  weeks  of  boot  camp.  But  one  of  the  things

we'ʹre  finding  is  that  there'ʹs  not  as  much  effort  on  the  back  end  as  those  service  members  are  separating  and  preparing  to

enter  the  work  force."ʺ  —  White  House  Staff  comment  after

President  Obama  announced  the  need  for  a  “Reverse  Boot  Camp  (REBOOT)”  on  August  5,  2011

“53%  of  200,000  (106,000)  transitioning  military  go  on  22  weeks  of  unemployment  insurance  annually”

THERE IS A NEED FOR A REAL TRANSITION PROGRAM Survey results have shown that 81 percent of transitioning military personnel do not "feel fully prepared for the process of entering the job market." In response to this need, NVTSI created REBOOT Workshops™. REBOOT Workshops™ are designed to meet an acute need for robust military to civilian transition services.

"ʺI  am  more  confident  in  myself  and  I  have  learned  that  it  might  not  be  easy,  however,  it

is  not  that  tough"ʺ  —  Dan  LaPierre  REBOOT  Graduate  Class  01

"ʺI  went  from  being  jobless  to  being  hired  at  a  respectable  nonprofit  organization  earning   $42,000  a  year  during  a  horrible  economy."ʺ   —  OTo  Delacruz  REBOOT  Graduate,  Class  04

EMPLOYER PARTNERS As one of 85,000 employers in the region we are counting on your support to help ALL of our troops find their place as a civilians. Each year throughout San Diego County over 15,000 service members transition from military service with another 37,000 living in the area seeking a new life. Most of them struggle to enter the civilian job market despite the skills they developed in the military.  !

“The toughest battle they will face is the journey home; as many have to battle - unemployment, homelessness, suicide, drug abuse, depression, and anxiety.” Ronne Froman, RADM (Ret), !

Recent surveys reveal that:  !• Over 90% of returning service members do not feel ready to

enter the civilian job market. • A same number have not defined their new career goals and

are unclear about next steps. • Many struggle to overcome anxiety, self-doubt , and

negative thoughts. • A big number feel lost after living the in highly structured

and disciplined world of the military.

The current government-operated transition program focuses only on information about their benefits and resumes and falls short of mentally preparing our troops for the battle to return home. !To answer the call, we developed the REBOOT Workshop™. REBOOT is a three-week Workshop developed by the National Veterans Transition Services, Inc. (NVTSI) that has proven to be 98% successful in helping over 1300 transitioning service members and veterans win the battle by using evidence-based methods to help them create a new identity; discover their purpose/passion; and aligning their goals with a new career of their choice.* !Taking a innovative and holistic approach to learning, REBOOT Workshops™ builds upon a service member’s military training and skills to help participants redefine their personal identity, purpose in life, and desired occupation. Veterans are immersed in a reflective and engaging curriculum that successfully bridges the gap between military and civilian worlds.
