Annual Quality Assurance Report of Internal Quality Assurance Cell
PART – A
The year 2008-09 was an year of achievements and success. The plans made for the year
2009-10 have been achieved and the plans that have not been achieved will be carried forward to
the year 2010-11. The IQAC meeting took stock of the activities of the college in the year 2009-10
and has drawn up a new course of action for the year 2010-11. Our efforts and the outcome is
provided in the following lines for your kind consideration.
The total number of students enrolled for academic year 2009-10 is 850. The teaching staff
has a strength of 95, of which 43 are fulltime staff and 52 are part time staff. The non-teaching staff
serving in the institution number upto 29.

An orientation programme was arranged for freshers i.e. I Semester students of B.A.,
B.Com, B.Sc., B.B.M and B.C.A on 12-08-2009. Poojya Shri. Nirbhayanand Swamiji delivered a
special lecture on Personality Development on this occasion. B.G. Mulimani, V.C. Gulbarga
University was also present.
The students of final year took initiative to arrange Welcome function for new comers in
every faculty.
State Level & National Level Conferences, Seminars & Workshops
Dept. of Sociology conducted State Level UGC sponsored conference on 17, 18th
July 2009.
The Topic of the conference was “Human Rights – Promise and Performance.
Dept. of History hosted National Level UGC Sponsored Seminar on “Recent Trends in
History / Objectivity in History’ on 30th
& 31st July 2009.
NAAC Sponsored State Level Workshop was held on 19th
& 20th
August 2009 in our
college on the topic “Re accreditation Process & Role of IQAC”. Academicians, teachers and
students actively participated in all their events.
Class-wise Teacher’s Day celebrations were held in the college on 5th
Sept. 2009. It is a
matter of pleasure to express that our Degree College was awarded the Best Institution Award
instituted in memory of Late. Smt. Ganga Bai and Sri. Adavirao Siddapurker. The award was
given in a special function of the society on 5th
Sept. 2009.
Hyderabad – Karnataka liberation Day was celebrated on 17th
Sept 2009. Essay & Singing
competitions of Gulbarga district. These competitions were held in association with Kannada
Pradhikara & Dist. Administration.
Sri. Shivaprasad Jajee of Gurukul Academy delivered a special lecture on “Personality
Development. Scientific Approach” for our B.B.M. & BCA students on 28-08-2009. Prof.
Venkatesh Somayaji of polytechnic College addressed our CGC Students on 30-09-2009. He
deliberated on ‘Soft Skills and Communication skills”.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated on 2nd
October 2009. Students and teachers participated in
the programme with enthusiasm.
Yuvajanotsava of Gulbarga University was held on 29, 30th
October 2009. 55 Students of
our college participated in this intercollegiate event and emerged as over all champions.
Pratibha an annual event of Gulbarga District Administration was held and our college
bagged over all championship consecutively for the fourth time.
Endowment Competitions :
Our College every year conducts three endowment programmes.
1) Late Smt. Bakula bai Vamdev Dixit, extempore speech competition.
2) Late. Smt. Shakuntalabai R. Kulkarni essay competition.
3) Late Sri. Mruga Rajendra Gangane – Hindi Essay Competition.
All these are district level competitions. Many students of this area take part in these
competition. These competitions were held on different dates and the response was encouraging.
Heavy rains in our region caused havoc and left many people without food and shelter. Our
P.G. Music Dept. organized a music programme in support of the victims of the floods and donated
a sizable amount to the Dist. Administration for rehabilitation of the effected people. Eminent
Artists of this region supported us in this event.
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Maha Parimirvana day was observed on 6-12-2009. All students
and teachers were present on this occasion.
Library being the nerve centre of our college, has 26,412 books, 15 non-books materials,
CDs & Magazines 115 and 12 news papers.

Placements :
10 Students of our college appeared for campus interview of Wipro Job Part, in V.G.
Women’s College, Gulbarg on 20-06-2009 and one candidates was short listed.
P.D.A. Engineering College had organized campus selection of Wipro Co. Ltd. Bangalore
on 11-09-2009. Miss. Anjana H. Reddy and Sri. Krishna Nadagouda of B.Sc. 5th
Sem got
selected.
Seven students of our college were short listed by First source BPO, Chennai in the campus
interview held in our college.
Women’s Cell and Hobby Club :
Women’s Cell & hobby club organized Rangoli, Vegetable carving, candle making
competitions for the benefit of our students.
H1N1 Awareness Programme N.S.S., Unit and N.V. Degree College jointly organized a
programme on “Swine Flue Awareness” on 24th
August 2009. Dr. Gururaj Malkud, Dr.C.V.
Padsheety, Dr. Vinay T and Dr.Revanna of H.K.E. Society Homeopathic Medical College,
Gulbarga, spoke on this occasion and gave detailed information regarding the disease and
distributed Homeo-Medicine to the member of staff and students free of cost Dr. Anand Kuttur
presided over the function.
On 16-09-2009 The Rotary Club North Division, Gulbarga organized Hepatatus B+
Awareness Programme in our college Dr. Siddesh and Dr. Dhanraj gave comprehensive
information regarding the dangerous disease and the important of vaccination Dr. Gautam
Jahagirdar and Sri Abhijit Deshmukh of N.V. Society were also associated with this programme.
On the same day a Rally was organized from N.V. Degree College of Saradar Vallabhai
Patel Chowk. A Grand function on this occasion was also organized by the District Administration
at S.M. Pandit Ranga Mandir. Hon. Chief Minister of Karnataka was the Chief Guest of the
function. A Letter of appreciation was given to our Principal for conducting various competitions
ini this connection.
N S S Activities:
N.S.S., volunteers and staff of N.V. Degree College collected Rs. 8000/- towards Flood Relief and
was handed over to the N.V. Society Gulbarga, for onward remittance to the District
Administration Gulbarga.
On October 2nd
2009 Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahaddur Shastri Jayanti were celebrated in
the staff and students observed this day by performing Shramadana on the college campus.
Karnataka State Women’s University Bijapur in Collaboration with H.K.E, society Smt.
V.G. Women’s College Gulbarga organized “7th
days State Level N.S.S., Leadership camp at Smt.
V.G.Women’s College Gulbarga. From 1st November 2009 to 7
th November 2009. Six N.S.S,
volunteers namely Basavaraj, Gurushant, Satteshwar, Vishwaraj Sridevi and Sheela Rathod
participated actively in the above camp.
National Youth Day Celebration Swami Vivekanand Jayanti was observed in our college on
12th
January 2010, N.S.S, volunteers Mr. Prabhu & Mr. Channabasappa spoke on this occasion
regarding the role of Swami Vivekanand in creating awareness among the youth of our country. Dr.
Swamirao Kulkarni and Prof. U.G. Sirdeshpande and other members of staff were present on this
occasion.
7 days National Integration camp was organized at N.S.S, Bhawan on Jnana Bharati
Campus Bangalore University Bangalore from 8th
January 2010 to 24th
January 2010. Prof. U.G.
Sirdeshpande N.S.S. programme officer along with six N.S.S., volunteers of our college attended
the camp. Pratvi Shetty, Priya Kulkarni, Shrutika Harwaikar, Gururaj Basanalkar, Gururaj Biradar
and Vishwaraj Dandgundkar participated in N.I.C, camp representing Gulbarga University
Gulbarga.
“From 11-2-2010 to 17-2-2010” Inter Collegiate University Level N.S.S, special camp was
organized by N.S.S, cell Gulbarga University at Budha Vihar/G.U.G., campus N.S.S., programme
officer of our college Prof. U.G. Sirdeshpade and Dr. Dayanand Shastry along with 10 N.S.S,
volunteers participated in the above camp.
On 8th
January 2010 Pulse Polio immunization Campaign was organized by the corporation
office Gulbarga. Prof. U.G. Sirdeshpande along with 20 N.S.S, volunteers extended their services
to the Ashoka Nagar Primary Health Center Gulbarga.
On 10th
February 2010 “District AIDS Prevention control Unit” [DAPCU] Gulbarga and
N.S.S, Unit of our college organized one day seminar. Red Ribbon Club inauguration Function and
AIDS Awareness programme were held. Dr. Shamrao Kapoor Chief Medical Officer of D.A.P.C.U
was the chief Guest, Principal Dr. Swamirao Kulkarni presided over the function Miss. Arati
Dhanshree also spoke on this occasion Prof. U.G. Sirdeshpande introduced the Guest and extended
a warm welcome to one and all.
Ministry of youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India, organized a National Level Desert
Safari in Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) under Rajeev Gandhi Adventure Scheme for N.S.S, Volunteers from

One Day AIDS Prevention / Awareness work shop was organized for the N.S.S, programme
officers of different colleges at Gulbarga University Gulbarga. on 6th

AIDS Prevention and control Unit Gulbarga Prof. U.G. Sirdeshpande and Dr. Dayanand Shastry
attended the same.
Sports :
In the first term of this academic year, we hosted Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. Gulbarga
Zone Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis (Men & Women) Tournament on 13-09-2009. Tournament
was a grand success.
Mr. Prasannakumar K. Joshi B.Sc. VI Sem. was selected for Chess (Men) team of Gulbarga
University, Gulbarga. He represented our University in All India Inter-University Chess (Men)
Tournament held from 26-09-2009 to 29-09-2009 at Periyar University, Salem.
Mr. Naveenkumar Mulge B.Com. IV Sem. was selected for Hockey (Men) team for
Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. He represented our University in All India Inter-University Hockey
(Men) Tournament held on 16-10-2009 at Bangalore University, Bangaluru.
Mr. Neeraj N. Malkhedkar B.Com. II Sem. was selected for Table Tennis (Men) team of
Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. He represented Our University in All India Inter-University Table
Tennis (Men) Tournament held on 22 to 24 Jan 2010 at NTR University of Health Science,
Vijayawada. We congratulate Mr. Ramu Kishan Chavan – B.A. II Sem and Mr. Channabasappa
Vishwanath G. B.A. IV Sem for having got 4th
Place in 1500mts and 5000mts, 10000mts
respectively in the GUG Inter Collegiate Athletic Meet 2009-2010.
Team consisting of Miss Iramma Mallinath Hire Gouda B.Com II Sem. Miss Jayashree
Nagappa – B.A. VI Sem. Miss Padmavati Nagappa G – B.A. II Sem. and Miss Sridevi
.Nagendrappa Kunoor – B.A. II Sem won fourth place in 4 x 100 mts relay competition in the
meet.
Mr. Gururaj Sheshappa Basanalkar B.A. II Sem deserves our hearty congratulations for
having secured Individual Kumit events for 60kg Black Belt and Individual Team Kata Black Belt
– Divisional level Karate Championship. Both he has got in First place. The competitions were held
on 28 and 29 Nov 2009 at Gulbarga.

1. Activities reflections the goals and objectives of the institution.
An attempt is being made to provide horizontal and vertical mobility in science and
commerce courses. Introduction of Career Oriented Programme in Materials Science has been
helpful for science students to implement their degrees with an add on course. A serious thought is
given to start M.Com Course in our premises. Students, especially girl students find it difficult to
go to university for this course. Realizing the needs of the students, the management has permitted
us to take up the necessary steps in commencing the course in our campus. We are awaiting the
visit and approval of affiliation committee.
The following steps were taken up to enrich the knowledge of the students and teachers.

A Career Oriented Addon course in Material Science and Technology under UGC XI Plan
was introduced in this academic year 35 students took admission for this course.
Preparations are being made to get the approval from University and State Govt. to
commence PG Course in Commerce.

Mahesh Badiger, Dept of Music, Dr. Dandapur PG Music, Dr. Suresh Heroor, Dept of Sanskrit, Dr.
Srikant Ekhelikar, Dept of Physics, Shri. Govind Pujari Dept of Computer Science are the BOS
members in their respective subjects.
Innovations are being made in making the course material effective through student

Indian Constitution, Quantitative Techniques, Communication Skills in English are
included in our syllabi. The following interdisciplinary Programmes have been initiated.

The results of all the faculties are above 80% . The regular class tests, remedial classes,

and enhancing our performance.

Financial Assistance was provided by the Alumni Association to conduct state level
conference on Human Rights: Promise and Performance.

Prizes, maintenance grant, medals, uniforms and cash prizes are provided to the achievers in

3) Career Launcher Tycoons 2010 conducted a talent hunt test on 03-03-2010 for
the final year students of the college.
