n Suicide is the 2nd cause of death in adolescence (1 200/ year, 7.9 % deaths in this age group).
n Lifetime Suicide attempts (SA) prevalence in this population is 4.2%.
n Suicidal Ideation (SI) are even more frequent.
n SA and severe SI have potentially serious consequences, including substantial psychological effects, increased risk of subsequent SA, and death (Patton et al., 2009).
Etude PRESAGE
+
n One year after SA, the repetition rate in adolescent population is from 15 to 28 % (Giraud et al., 2013; Laurent, Foussard, David, Boucharlat, & Bost, 1998; Ligier, Vidailhet, & Kabuth, 2009; Stewart, Manion, & Davidson, 2002).
n Compliance to post SA/SI care is low with effective adhesion from 17.5 to 47 % (Spirito et al., 1992; Swedo, 1989).
Compliance and repetition
+
n Prevention programs should also focus high-risk individual with previous SA and SI.
n This is a European major healthcare issue
