As Christmas is coming soon, our Club has prepared a wide range of delicious cuisines for our members to celebrate this joyful and peaceful festive season with friends and family at our Club. The Club would serve sumptuous buffet during Christmas and New Year to line up an array of festive delights. For gourmands who want to celebrate Christmas at home, we have also crafted a delicious takeaway menu with all the favorite Christmas cuisines for your selection.

Our chefs have also unveiled the parade in designing creative snake recipes and seasonal hairy crab menus to bring you a delectable, savory dining experience.

The 2018 Modern Apprenticeship Programme, sponsored by Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) and co-hosted by Breakthrough, was completed recently. More than ten young people took part in a 10-week internship at SHKP and its subsidiaries following the completion of life planning and personal growth training sessions. Under the guidance of seasoned SHKP staff, the apprentices came to understand life in the workplace and how to get along with others.

SHKP mentors discovered the strengths and potential of the apprentices in addition to providing job coaching in order to help steer their career aspirations. One of the apprentices, Tse Yin-kwan, had been working toward becoming an arborist. However, after the internship in which he witnessed the passion, professionalism and positive attitude of co-workers in the Technical Department, he is now determined to become an engineer and carve out a promising future for himself.

Breakthrough General Secretary Joyce Man expressed her gratitude for SHKP’s continuous support over the years in encouraging its staff to become inspiring beacons for young people. Besides serving as mentors in the workplace, SHKP staff also joined their apprentices on a trip to Taiwan. One of the SHKP mentors, Chan Yin-fan, who joined the trip, said the apprentices’ efforts to make breakthrough progress during the trip really reflects the essence of a life-on-life influence.

由新地贊助、突破機構(突破)合辦的「『見』造未來-師徒創路學堂2018」計劃早前圓滿結束,十多位青少年經歷了一系列的生涯規劃活動及成長訓練後,進入新地及旗下公司完成十星期的工作實習。學員在資深新地員工的指導下,了解職場生活,學習待人接物的技巧。

新地師傅除了向學員提供工作指導外,更在同行的過程中,發掘學員的長處及潛能,讓他們了解自己的能

力、興趣和職志。本欲成為樹藝師的學員謝彥君,於實習期間受到工程部同事的熱誠、專業、積極態度啟發,毅然改變志向,希望成為工程師,開創屬於自己的未來。

突破總幹事萬樂人女士感謝新地多年來的支持,推動旗下員工成為年輕人的明燈。新地員工除了擔任師傅外,更與學員一同參與台灣學習之旅。其中一位新地師傅陳燕芬表示,在旅程中看見學員非常努力突破自己,令她深切感受生命影響生命的意義。

SHKP Reading Club sows seeds of reading on campus for the fifth year新閱會「閱讀.分享」五年深耕 適切校本支援散播閱讀種子

To sow the seeds of reading in primary and secondary schools, Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited’s SHKP Reading Club, which endeavors to promote reading fun across the community through different initiatives, has partnered with the Hong Kong Aided Primary School Heads Association to present the Read & Share programme. Entering the programme’s fifth year, a host of different interesting activities will be launched to stimulate students’ interest in reading and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

“STEM Sir”, Mr. Patrick Tang, with his 18 years of teaching experience, has recently visited the F.D.B.W.A. Chow Chin Yau School in Tuen Mun with the SHKP Reading Club. He gave an entertaining yet informative talk to over 200 students about STEM in our daily lives, including how it is applied in their favourite toys and common home appliances, in order to encourage the kids to explore everyday science. He also recommended some fascinating books. Other events of the Read & Share programme in the new academic year will include “Our STEM Living” exchange activities as well as fun and inspiring STEM courses at Noah’s Ark. Enrolment is free of charge.

Currently, more than 100 primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong have joined the Read & Share programme through which they can select and make use of the various support and activities offered by the SHKP Reading Club to meet the different needs of teachers when promoting reading at school.

新鴻基地產(新地)新閱會一直以不同形式向大眾推廣閱讀,更積極將喜「閱」種子深耕到全港中小校園裡,其中與香港資助小學校長會攜手推出的「閱讀.分享」校園計劃經已踏入第五年,今年以STEM為主題,策劃形式多樣的活動,藉日常生活中有關科學(Science)、科技(Technology)、工程(Engineering)及數學(Mathematics)的有趣事物,引起學生對閱讀及學習STEM的興趣。

有18年教學經驗的STEM Sir鄧文瀚,早前與新閱會到屯門五邑鄒振猷學校,與200多位學生「講生活.講STEM」,並以他們喜愛的玩具及經常接觸的家電,引領同學發掘蘊藏其中的科學原理和現象,更推介了多本有趣書籍。他的講解深入淺出,妙趣横生,學生獲益良多。「閱讀.分享」計劃新學年其他活動包括「Our STEM Living」交流活動、「走出書本」體驗挪亞方舟好玩又能啟發多元智能的STEM課程等等,所有活動費用全免。

現時,全港有百多間中小學參與「閱讀.分享」計劃,可靈活揀選及運用新閱會提供的活動及支援,配合老師在推廣閱讀上的不同需要。

The SHKP Reading Club held an award presentation ceremony during the summer holiday to recognize the efforts of those who performed exceptionally well in the programme. During the previous academic year, the programme organized 125 activities and visits, offering an enjoyable reading experience for over 40,000 primary and secondary students and teachers.剛於暑假舉行的「閱讀.分享」嘉許禮,表揚喜「閱」學校及師生。上學年,新閱會舉辦了125 場到校及參觀活動,為超過四萬名中小學師生帶來愉快閱讀體驗。
