McLean – who was nurtured by guitar great Hank Mackie and then by world music and jazz faculty at U. C. L. Young Audiences Baby Artsplay!TM, presented by The Helis Foundation, offers an opportunity for young children and their caregivers to enjoy an educational, yet fun-filled trip to the New Orleans Jazz Museum. Hosted by eight cultural institutions around the city, Baby Artsplay!TM provides engaging activities designed to instruct parents, caregivers, and early childhood teachers in how to use the arts at home, school, and daycare to promote early learning. The 30-minute workshops allow children to explore, observe and investigate their world and the museum through song, dance and movement experiences. Workshops explore six key themes in early childhood development and s are conducted by a diverse group of certified Louisiana Wolf Trap Artists, who have expertly crafted multi-sensory experience that foster children’s natural curiosity for learning. Children and their caregivers will leave each session with a Connections Card exploring how workshop activities can be continued at home. November 30 Thursday 2:00-3:00 pm New Orleans Jazz Museum Fred Kasten continues his live interview series “Talkin Jazz” with a local New Orleans Jazz Master. 8:00 – 9:30 pm New Orleans Jazz Museum Don Paul & Rivers of Dreams deliver poems and songs and substantially improvised music. They explore omphalic contents of

Louisiana as a whole and its Crescent City in particular. They draw from sources that emanate like mist and horns around the

New Orleans Jazz Museum. Rivers of Dreams band-members are wonderfully illustrious including Roger Lewis, baritone

saxophone, has played, written and toured the world with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band for more than 20 years.

Kirk Joseph, sousaphone, another founder of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, is widely praised for his innovations, bass-lines, and

melodies. Carl LeBlanc, banjo and guitar, is a champion of both the traditional and experimental. He played for years with both

Fats Domino and Sun Ra. Mario Abney, trumpet and Michael Torregano, piano.
