HOLIDAY SCHEDULEThe Home Office will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, in recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there

be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities

for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary, because it means you’ve made a difference.

It’s easy to be thankful for the good things.A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who

are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,

and they can become your blessings.

WORDS OF WISDOM

“Flaming enthusiasm, backed up by horse sense and persistence, is the quality that most frequently makes for success.”

the stretch …We’re into

Keep Medicare on Your Mind!Temperatures outside are dropping, but the world of Medicare Supplements is a sizzling place right now. You’re currently involved in the Medicare Advantage Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), telling Seniors around the country about the value of choosing a quality Medicare Supplement from United American or First United American. With only a few weeks left in the AEP, there may still be thousands of Seniors out there who need your help. According to CSG Actuarial, nearly 300,000 Medicare Advantage enrollees have had their 2013 plans discontinued in 2014. More than 40,000 of these enrollees are from New Jersey. Five other states that each have more than 20,000 enrollees impacted by plan terminations are California, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Florida, and New York. I just read an article about 9,200 Seniors in Iowa being disenrolled from their MA plans for 2014, and saw a recent TV news report indicating at least 1,000 Medicare Advantage doctors in Connecticut are being dropped by a large Medicare Advantage insurer. If the doctor is being dropped, where does that leave the patient? Thousands of men and women may need to find new coverage options, and UA and First UA have them.

Moving froM the Aep to the AdpIf you don’t move all those prospects from Medicare Advantage plans to Medicare Supplements during the AEP, you have another opportunity during the Medicare Advantage Annual Disenrollment Period that starts Jan. 1, and runs through Feb. 14, 2014. During this six-week period, you may find many Seniors with Medicare Advantage plans who want to leave their MA plan, return to Original Medicare, and purchase a Medicare Supplement. Their reasons for wanting to change vary, but the result is the same for you — more prospects who need your guidance and industry expertise to help them purchase a Medicare Supplement. When you work with MA members being disenrolled involuntarily or those voluntarily dropping their MA plans, you may need to educate them on the value of Medicare Supplements and the features that may make Medicare Supplements a good choice. If these individuals have had their MA plans for some time, they may not be aware of the value they can receive when switching to a Medicare Supplement. It’s up to you to tell them.

the iMportAnce of guArAnteed renewAbilitYI believe guaranteed renewability is one of the most important features a Medicare Supplement insurance plan offers Seniors. It may not be as important to young Seniors, but as Seniors age and develop more health problems, guaranteed renewability becomes critically important. Knowing their coverage cannot be dropped

as long as their premiums are paid on time means a lot. If their health starts to deteriorate, they know their supplemental coverage will still be there to cover the medical expenses Medicare does not cover.

one of the best reAsons to sell MedicAre suppleMentsWhat’s one of the best reasons to sell Medicare Supplements? You can sell them year-round! And now you have access to the iGO e-App® for Medicare Supplement sales to make that process faster and easier. Sell in any state where the product is approved, and you are licensed and appointed. Just imagine the freedom and flexibility that gives you! Sell Medicare Supplements from the comfort of your home office on cold winter days or when the temperature reaches triple digits. Reach more prospects without ever walking out your door. Submit the business electronically with the iGO e-App directly to the Home Office for faster policy issue and less chance of underwriting delays. The e-App doesn’t let you make a mistake or leave anything to chance.

With 2013 winding down, I’m already getting enthusiastic about 2014. Given the potential you have with the iGO e-App to increase your Medicare Supplement sales through the end of the year, I’m confident the Convention celebration we have in New Orleans will be unforgettable.

hAve A wonderful holidAY seAson! MAY You And Your fAMilY be AbundAntlY blessed.

RECRUITING YOUNG AGENTS

How to Appeal to Young Agents:

Positive Personality Attributes of Millennials:

37% 90%

50%

89%

At United American and First United American, we’re always looking for innovative ways to help you grow your Agencies. Get ready, because the young Millennial generation is entering the job market in full force!

Members of this unique generation were born between 1980 and 2000 and make up the largest generation to date1. These young adults can bring great qualities to your Agency, which can ultimately make you and your Agency more successful! Millennials are a generation of young adults who want to make a name and create a bright future for themselves. Are you out there recruiting and looking for Agents from this age group? By 2025, three out of every four workers globally will be Millennials1.

It is important Millennials feel they make a difference in their place of employment. No matter what generation a potential recruit belongs to, it’s important to emphasize how a sales career with UA or First UA gives Agents scheduling flexibility, unlimited income potential, the chance to sell products that can change the lives of consumers, the opportunity to develop lasting relationships with their clients, and the chance to have a work and home life balance.

As Millennials move into the workforce, be ready to embrace the diversity or be left in the dust! Such a large generation is sure to create changes to the insurance industry. Use the change to your advantage. Build your team for the future to better reach prospects. Shape your Agency to be appealing to this generation and get ready to start pulling from the Millennial talent pool!

1) Use Social Media for job postings and encourage Millennials to use Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc., for marketing and recruiting.

2) Attend college career fairs.

3) Provide young Agents with appropriate training and serve as their mentor.

4) Provide incentives like prizes, vacations, and friendly competition to promote success.

5) Emphasize why insurance is important to sell - because it helps people.

• Confident

• Self-expressive

• Open to change

• High expectations for themselves and others

• Technologically savvy

Millennials wil l make up 50 percent of the U.S. workforce by 20303.

Mil lennials are on course to become the

most educated generation in American history3.

37 percent of 18 to 29-year-olds are unemployed or out of the workforce2.

90 percent of Mil lennials surveyed think being an entrepreneur means having a certain

mindset rather than starting a company4.

89 percent of Mil lennials would prefer

to choose when and where they work rather than being placed in a

9-to-5 position4.
