H.O.P.E. stands for “helping other people everyday” for the greater glory of God. Our volunteers help on a limited basis, like picking up prescriptions, driving people to Mass on weekends, drive to appts or food store.

Our monthly HOPE Captain coordinates requests for the month. Do you know someone who needs H.O.P.E?

Dear Friends,

Interspersed throughout the Church year are Sundays that remind us that the most important thing is love- love of God, love of neighbor. Today, the Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time, is one of those Sundays. In today’s Gospel from Matthew Jesus is challenged about the greatest commandment. The first reading from Exodus prepared us to hear Jesus’ answer. Jesus’ simple reply (the greatest law is the law of love), noted in this Old Testament mandate, is a challenge to all of us. Love of God and love of neighbor have not changed in two thousand years. This week let us strive to love everyone we meet along our way, even those we suspect might be a challenge for us!

As I noted last week, we had a wonderful Oktoberfest, truly a time of fun, food and especially fellowship. It was so wonderful to see so many of our parishioners just sitting around and enjoying the sights and sounds around them. It was an excellent opportunity to reconnect and to spend time with fellow members of this great parish. In addition to all of the great fun, we were able to profit just under $12,000 to assist in the operational expenses of the parish as well as some jubilee events yet to be held. Thank you, one and all, for making this Oktoberfest such a wonderful success in so many ways!

Last weekend we began the sale of Christmas ornaments, Christmas cards, and the remaining Jubilee cookbooks. They will be on sale after Masses in the narthex from time to time but they are also available in the parish office throughout the week. The special Jubilee Christmas ornament is really beautiful and makes for a special gift, especially for those who may have moved away from the area. There is only a limited number in our inventory so please don’t be disappointed when these items are no longer available.

This weekend is the last weekend to register in the narthex for the Parish Photo Directory which will include our Parish Jubilee history. After this weekend, you will still be able to register on line for your reservation for your picture. Please visit our website and click on Lifetouch. Please do not be left out of this opportunity to be a part of the 50 year history of Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish.

This Wednesday, November 1st is the Solemnity of ALL SAINTS, a Holyday of Obligation. Masses will be celebrated on Wednesday at 7AM, 9AM, 12 Noon, and 7PM. On Thursday, November 2nd, we will commemorate the Feast of ALL SOULS. Masses will be celebrated at 7AM, 9AM, and 7PM. At the evening Mass we will remember in a special way all of those who were buried from our parish since last November. You also received an All Souls envelope in the last packet of envelopes you received. Please record the names of your family members and friends you wish us to pray for during the month of November. These names will be placed before the Holy Family shrine throughout the month of November and remembered in prayer each day. Also, as a component of our Jubilee Year, there will be a memorial book on display in the narthex which lists the names of all the parishioners, since the foundation of the parish, whose Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in the parish. These past members of our parish will also be remembered in prayer throughout the month as well.

Next weekend we revert back to Eastern Standard Time which means we gain an hour of sleep next Saturday night by turning our clocks BACK one hour. Please remember to change your clocks and be on time for Mass next weekend! With the extra hour of sleep, we should be able to raise the roof in prayer and song next Sunday!

May Saint Robert Bellarmine inspire us to live for the greater glory of God!

With prayers,

In O

FROM THE DESK OF MRS. JASTER

APPLE OF MY EYE: Congratulations to

the latest “Apple of My Eye” winners of the

school year: Addison Hill, Ella Traae, Haley

Stefanik, Jacob Edwards and Ethan Brown.

FRUITS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: Each month during the school year, we will focus intently on a particular fruit of the Holy Spirit. These fruits are supposed to be observable behaviors that we can model through the Spirit working in our lives. Our focus for the month of November will be Generosity. Let’s all look for ways to be generous with our gifts and talents! HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION:

Trunk of Treat: Don’t miss out on this “fun-raising” event. Families will gather in the parking lot in front of school for some early Halloween fun on Friday, October 27th from 5:30pm – 7pm.

Halloween Dance: Our annual Halloween dance for students in grade 5 & 6 is set for Saturday, October 28th.

Walk-a-thon: Our annual Walkathon will soon be upon us! Keep November 10th on your calendar.

See info regarding Bingo Bonanza in this week’s communication.

LUNCH WITH THE PRINCIPAL: Thank you to everyone who participated in the Chick-fil-a raffle. The following students have won a Chick-fil-a lunch with me on Monday, November 6th: Keegan Kulp, Nate Peddicord, Connor Murphy, Ben Penta, Emma Jacobsen, and Kelce Sanford.

CARES HELP: We are looking for extra helpers in our CARES program. Our after-school program runs 3pm – 6pm Monday through Friday. (This might be a wonderful opportunity for some SJR alums who are in high school!) If interested, please contact Ms. Mealia at: [email protected]

JUST A THOUGHT: This past Sunday afternoon, we held “Sacrament Sunday” for

families of children preparing to receive sacraments this school year. While I

enjoyed listening to the talks that Father Guckin gave, I was struck by the

attentiveness of the parents who were present. It is so very obvious that our parents truly understand their role as

primary teachers of the faith. Their commitment to our faith and our children was a gift beyond measure!

WOULD YOU LIKE THE BLESSED MOTHER STATUE TO VISIT YOUR HOME? St. Robert's parish has a beautiful little statue of the Blessed Mother of Fatima available. Simply make a request, and the pilgrim statue will be brought to your home for a week or two. Families are encouraged to display the statue prominently and to say the Rosary together. Contact Bernadette Repisky at 267.261.4612, [email protected].

St. Bede's is sponsoring the Bucks County Regional KAIROS Retreat, which is the weekend of Nov. 10-12, 2017. The retreat is being held at Gretna Glen Center in Lebanon, PA. This retreat is quickly approaching, all students who are Juniors and Seniors in a Public High School are invited! Contact [email protected] for a permission form and a sheet with details for the weekend.

In case you are not familiar, Kairos can simply be translated to mean “God’s Time.” This is a 3-day retreat which is based upon the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. During the retreat participants open themselves up to God’s love as well as the love of their family and friends. The retreat creates an environment of acceptance and love in which participants can know about and accept Christ more deeply in their lives. Ideally by the end retreatants find that they have grown in relationship with God, self and others. This retreat is based off of the same model that is used by many of the Archdiocesan High Schools. It is a different experience than Steubenville! Highy recommended by those who have attended.

December 5, 2017 6:30—8:30 Cost: $15.00

Appetizers, desserts and beverages will be provided.

Every year Christmas seems to begin earlier and earlier. The countdown to

December 25th unfolds through the continuous playing of Christmas Carols. How

can you open your heart and your ears to come home to God and hear the story

of the Incarnation with new ears? Like an Advent calendar opens the door each

day to rich treasures that beckon you deeper into the sacred season, this evening

will open an Advent Door of contemplation into the Christmas story and how the

Word becomes flesh in your own life.

Each person is asked to bring one pink or purple votive candle and holder to

decorate our tables for the Advent season.

Come and join us for this evening of fellowship and reflection!

Registration forms are in the Narthex and on the parish website.

FOCUS ON FAITH

THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN

ORDINARY TIME

Exodus 22: 20-26; 1

Thessalonians 1:5-19; Matthew

22:34-40

Jesus’ words about loving as

the greatest commandment

aren’t empty ones, for sure.

This is exactly what he did —

he loved with his all to the extent that he gave his life

for us. Did you ever notice that when we someone

reaches out to us in our need, we then try to be more

responsive to others in need? When someone loves us

deeply, we learn to love others more deeply. We

learn to live the greatest commandment— love —

from the greatest teacher: Jesus.

What struggles do you face when it comes

to loving God?

What struggles do you face when it

comes to loving your neighbor?

What struggles do you face when it comes

to loving yourself?

“The school of Christ is the school of love.

In the last, when the general examination

takes place, love will be the syllabus.”

50TH JUBILEE FUN FACT: On June 10, 1969, with the recommendation of the Zoning Board of Warrington Township, the Board of Supervisors approved our building plans for the new church and hall. Because a thirty-day waiting period was required before a building permit could be issued, we scheduled our Groundbreaking Ceremonies on July

20 at 2:30 pm. However, due to the sudden death of Fr. Marley’s brother, Father James Marley, on Friday, July 18, the ceremonies were rescheduled for the following Sunday, July 27.

40 DAYS FOR LIFE Thank you so very much to the parishioners who came out to witness to the sanctity of life on our day, Thursday October 19 at the Louis Drive Planned Parenthood. It is only through our prayers and witness that this evil will be stopped.

Whether you attended one Rosary or all, accompanied us to the shrine of Czestochowa for the Mass and candle-lit procession, viewed the wonderful slide presentation by Lois and Tom Castaldi of their Fatima trip, or attended the Public

Square Rosary Rally on October 14th, thank you for helping to make our celebration of the centennial anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima to the shepherd children (now Saint Francisco, Saint Jacinta and Beatified Lucia,) a success. For more information on Fatima, please see www.americaneedsfatima.org ; or www.fatima.org. Thank you! Pat Roberts and Bernadette Repisky JUBILEE PRAYER OF CONSECRATION Hail. Mother of the Lord, Virgin Mary, Queen of the Rosary of Fatima! Blessed among all women, you are the image of the church dressed in the Paschal light, you are the honor of our people, you are the triumph over the mark of evil. Prophecy of the merciful love of the Father, Teacher of the Annunciation of the Good News of the Son, Sign of the burning Fire of the Holy Spirit, teach us, in this valley of joys and sorrows, the eternal truths that the Father reveals to the little ones. Show us the strength of your mantle of protection. In your Immaculate Heart, be the refuge of sinners and the way that leads to God. In unity with my brethren, In Faith, Hope and Love, I surrender myself to you. In unity with my brethren, through you, I consecrate myself to God, O Virgin of the Rosary of Fatima. And thus surrounded by the Light that comes from your hands, I will give Glory to the Lord for ever and ever. Amen.
