Important Facts
• The virus is in the USA-Highly Contagious
• Spread by:• coughing,
• Sneezing
• Touching surfaces that are infected• Desk tops, door handles, etc.
Signs and Symptoms
• Fever (BUT, not all the time)
• Coughing,sneezing
• Sore throat
• Runny/stuffy nose
• Body aches
• Headache
• Sometimes: vomiting and diarrhea
Be watchful for
Children
• Fast or trouble breathing
• Bluish or gray skin
• Not drinking enough fluids
• Severe or persistent vomiting
• No interaction
• Irritable skin
• Flu-like symptoms improve then return
Adult
• Difficulty breathing
• Pain or pressure in the chest
• Sudden dizziness
• Confusion
• Severe or persistent vomiting
• Flu-like symptoms improve then return
PREVENTIONPrevention!
• Cover your nose and mouth with tissue
• WASH your hands with soap and water
• Use Purell or other Alcohol-based hand cleaners
• Avoid sick people
• Avoid wiping your eyes with your hands!
• If you are sick, stay at home at least 24 hours after your fever is gone!!!
Cleaning
• Clean table, desk, and any surfaces that come in contact with humans!
• Clean door knobs, telephones, computer keyboards
What is being done at DE?
• Increased number of Purell dispensers
• Cleaning of classrooms by teachers and custodial staff will increase.
