The most prominent landform in the eastern United States is system of low mountain ranges called the Appalachian Mountains. The seven chief ranges are the following: Green Mountains, White Mountains, Catskills, Adirondacks, Alleghenies, Blue Ridge and Cumberland Mountains.

Mammoth Cave’s main distinction is that it is the largest known underground cave system

The Piedmont Plateau lies between the Appalachians and the Atlantic coastal plain.

The Tidewater region are affected by the Atlantic’s tides.

Bears were greatly respected because of the danger of hunting them. They would use their meat for food and fur for robes or blankets.

One of the earliest cultures in the eastern and central United States were the Hopewell Indians. They built large mounds for burying their dead and worshipping gods.

The nations in the Iroquis League of Five Nations were the Iroquis, Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca tribes.

Shawnee means “southerners”. Seminole means “runaway” and lived in the Everglades.

The Wampanoag’s were the tribe to help the Pilgrims. Samoset introduced the Pilgrims to Chief Massasoit.
