1 Common & Proper Noun Song CD Song #1 Tune: “if Your Happy and You Know It” A noun is a person, place or thing. A noun is a person, place or thing. A common noun is general. And a proper noun's specific. A noun is a person, place or thing. Directions: Lay all cards face down so that the blank side is facing upwards. Players take turns turning over one pair of cards over until they find a pair of common and proper nouns that match. For example Ms. Gregory would match teacher. The player with the most matches in the end wins. For a more active approach, pass out all the cards. Students can get up and move around the room to music. When you turn the music off, students must go find the other student who has the matching card with theirs. Then students can sit down together on the floor until all the students finish their matches. Students can then stand up in pairs and read their match to the rest of the class.
