H P H E present issue of Notes and Records is the first since Septenv JL ber 1941, when publication was suspended owing to the war
and the shortage of paper. In the interval, Fellows have had to deplore the death of the Editor, Sir Henry Lyons, which took place on 10 August 1944. F°r an account of his activities and services to the Society, Fellows are referred to Obituary Notices o f Fellows o f the Royal Society, volume 4, number 13, page 795, 1944. Here it must suffice to add that his knowledge of the history and activities of the Society are and will be grievously missed by his successor in the Editorship.
The policy of Notes and Records will continue to be to keep the Fellows more fully informed of the activities of the Society, with accounts of the Anniversary Dinner, the Soirees, general information, and historical matters bearing on past Fellows and Foreign Members and on the conduct by the Society of its business. It is hoped shortly to include news of events affecting the Scientific Academies and Societies of the Dominions, India and other countries.
Contributions falling within this scope will be welcomed by the Editor, at the Society’s Rooms.
