Es importante conocer las características y el funcionamiento del ojo para entender cuáles agentes pueden perjudicarlo y cuáles tipos de aparatos de seguridad tienen que ser usados para protegerlo.El ojo funciona como un sensor por el cuerpo humano que nos permite percibir la luz visible. La luz entra por el cristalino para proyectarse sobre la retina, la parte interior y posterior del bulbo ocular. De aquí los nervios ópticos toman la imagen y la mandan al cerebro que la descodificación en un mensaje visual. Todo el bulbo ocular forma la parte más tierna del cuerpo humano y por los 5/6 posterior no es visible, bien protegido por huesos, músculos, etc.La cimbra anterior es revestida por la córnea y es la parte más externa y protegida de nuestro ojo. Consigue de ello que se pone fundamental proteger aquella sexta parte de ojo a nosotros visible en cuánto, además de ser expue-sto al riesgo de daños por la vista del individuo, también es la única calle que lleva directamente al cerebro. Esta estructura frágil que nos permite ver es amenazada fundamentalmente por tres categorías a riesgo:

TIPOS DE RIESGO:

1) mecánico: choques con partes sólidas, polvo2) químico: sustancias químicas3) luminoso radiaciones: UV, Infrarojos, Visible, Láser.Según los resultados obtenidos de la valoración de riesgos, el dador de trabajo tendrá que proveer protectores oculares conformes a los requisitos previos de seguridad CEE definidas por la normativa europea UN EN166:2004 ella que defi-ne, como de art. 4.1, que el protector ocular debe proveer protección contra:1) impactos de diferente entidad 2) radiaciones ópticas 3) metal fundido y partículas incandescentes 4) rociaduras y gotas 5) polvo6) gotas 7) arcos luminosos

E define mástarde con el art. 4.2 los tipos de protectores oculadores:1) gafas a pestillo con o sin amparos laterales2) gafas a mascarilla3) viseras4) pantallas5) cascos por soldadura.

El protector ocular tiene que ser marcado sea sobre la lente sea sobre la mon-tura. Por las gafas a mascarilla el marcaje es efectuado sobre la montura. Por las viseras tiene que estar presente sobre la estructura regente.El marcaje puede estar compuesto por 7 campos:1°) el primer número indica el tipo de protección luminosa (ejemplo: 2=filtro por UV, 3=filtro por UV sin alteración de los colores, 5=filtro solar, 6=filtro solar e infrarrojos).El segundo número separado de un guión corresponde a la gradación, un solista número: gradación de un protector por soldadura.2°) marca del productor.3°) clase óptica: indica el grado de neutralidad óptica de lo ocular.4°) resistencia mecánica: S=robusteza incrementado, F=protección impacto a baja energía 162 km/h, B=protección impacto a mediana energía 432 km/h (gafas con mascarilla y viseras), A=protección impacto a alta energía 684 km/h, (sólo viseras)5°) campos de empleo: 3=líquidos, 4=partículas gruesas, 5=gas, 8=arcos eléc-tricos, 9=metales fundidos.6°) letra K si el protector ocular es resistente a las abrasiones.7°) letra N si el protector ocular es antivaho. Es importante comprobar las características del entorno de trabajo y la acti-vidad laboral para localizar un protector ocular que tenga un buen índice de confort.

It is important to know the characteristics and function of the eyes to under-stand which agents can damage then and which type of safety devices must be utilised to protect them.Eyes act as a sensor for the human body, allowing it to perceive visible light. Light enters by means of a crystalline to be projected onto the retina, the inner part and the rear of the ocular bulb. From here, optic nerves take the image and sends it to the brain which decodifies it in a visual image. The entire ocular bulb forms the most tender part of the human body and for the 5/6 posteriors it is not visible, well-protected by bone, muscles, etc. The sixth anterior is covered by the cornea and is the most exterior part and least protected of our eyes. This means that it is essential to protect the sixth part of the eye, in as much as, other than being exposed to hazards of indivi-dual vision, it is also the only system that leads directly to the brain. This fragile structure allows us to see and is fundamentally threatened by three categories of hazards:

El ruido es un problema presente en muchas situaciones laborales: por esto existen muchos tipos de protectores y es importante delinear los criterios de elección para garantizarles a los trabajadores el protector más idóneo.

La norma vigente se ha preocupado de proveer líneas guía para determinar que tipo de protector auricular sea más idóneo para proteger el oído según las situaciones laborales.El art. 4 del Decreto legislativo 626/94 solicita que el empresario haga una valoración de los riesgos de seguridad y salud durante el trabajo existente en la misma empresa, individualice las medidas de prevención y protección idónea a salvaguardar la seguridad y la salud de los trabajadores además de presentar el programa de realización de tales medidas.

Según los resultados obtenidos de la valoración, el empresario tendrá que proveer protectores auriculares conformes a los requisitos de seguridad CE definidos por la normativa EN 352 (EN 352-cascos, auriculares, EN 352-3 cascos para casco, EN 352-4 cascos activados).

La valoración del ruido industrial es efectuada en base al D.Lvo 15/8/91 n° 277, que indica que la exposición personal cotidiana de un trabajador, expresada en dB(A) y calculada en 8 horas diarias, no tiene que superar los 85 dB(A)

Si tal nivel es superado, >85 dB(A,), el empresario tiene que poner a dispo-sición los DPI, Aparatos de Protección Individual, a los trabajadores por un programa de formación.Cuando el nivel de ruido diario supera los 90 dB(A), los trabajadores tienen la obligación de vestir los DPI, además de recibir un adecuado adiestramiento.

Las tablas indicadas para cada artículo son expresados para representar con valoraciones medias simbolizadas por las letras en decibelios H, M, L que expresan respectivamente la atenuación media a las altas, medianas y bajas frecuencias y el valor SNR que es la atenuación media del protector sobre todo el espectro de las frecuencias. Los valores H,M,L y SNR son conseguidos según el EN 24869-1 partiendo de los valores de la protección presunta (APVf) del protector.

POR LO TANTO EXISTEN 3 MÉTODOS PARA LA SELECCIÓN DEL PROTECTOR AUDITIVO EN BASE A LA ATENUACIÓN:

1) método para banda en octava2) método H,M,L3) método SNR

Este último, el más usado, se calcula partiendo del nivel de ruido presente en el entorno, sustrayendo de ello el valor SNR de nuestro protector y si el resul-tado fuera inferior a 85 dB(A) tendrá el protector idóneo.Además, es importante averiguar las características del entorno de trabajo y la actividad laboral para localizar un protector de oído que tenga un buen índice de confort.

PROTECCIÓN DEL OÍDO

Noise is a problem present in many working situations. For this reason, different types of protections exist and it is therefore important to outline the criteria for selecting the best to ensure the most ideal protection for workers.

Current norms supply guidelines for determining which type of hearing pro-tection is best for protecting hearing in different working situations. Art. 4 of Legislative decree 626/94 requires that the employer evaluate safety and health hazards during work in their company, identify ideal prevention and protection measures to safeguard worker safety and health and present a programme for actuating said measures.

According to results reported in said evaluation, the employer must supply hearing protections which respond to CE safety requirements as defined by norm EN 352 (EN 352-1 headsets, headphones, EN 352-3 headsets for helmets, EN 352-4 active headsets).

The evaluation of industrial noise is performed on the basis of Legislative de-cree 15/8/91 n. 277, which indicates that daily personal exposure by a worker, expressed in dB(A) and calculated over 8 hours a day, must not exceed 85 dB(A).

If said level is exceeded (>85 dB(A)), the employer must supply PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) to workers by means of a training programme. When the daily noise level exceeds 90 dB(A), workers are required to wear PPE as well as to receive adequate training.

Tables indicated for each article are expressed with average evaluations, symbolised with letters in decibels H, M, L which respectively express the average attenuation to high, medium and low frequencies. The value SNR is the average attenuation of the protector on all frequencies. Values H, M, L and SNR are obtained according to EN 24869-1, staring from presumed protection values (APVf) of the protector.

THERE ARE THEREFORE 3 METHODS FOR SELECTING THE HEARING-PROTEC-TIVE DEVICE ON THE BASIS OF ATTENUATION:

1) octave band method

2) H,M,L method

3) SNR method

The latter and most used is calculated starting from the level of noise present in the environment, subtracting from it the SNR value of our protector and, if the result is less than 85 dB(A), we have the ideal protective device. What’s more, it is important to verify working environment and daily work characteri-stics to identify hearing-protective devices which offer a good comfort level.
