Nooteboom semi low-loader OSDS-44-03WEB with wheel wells

The new 3-axle semi low-loader OSDS-44-03WEB is specially designed for the transport of large wheel loaders and dumpers. The main purpose of this semi low-loader with wheel wells is to transport all kind of brands and types of machinery through Europe without special permits. This means GCW of 40-44 tons legal limit (depending on country), transport height within 4m and combination length within 16.5m. To achieve these goals, the deadweight of the trailer, the dimensions and positioning of the wheel wells and the load fl oor length has been optimized. This offers the transport company as much fl exibility as possible and the lowest operational costs.

In spite of its low dead weight, the semi low-loader with wheel wells is extremely robust and the chassis is torsion-resistant. This results in excellent lateral stability when fully loaded. Within the GCW of 40-44 tonnes , this OSDS-44-03WEB semi low-loader offers a payload of 25 tonnes. With special permit the payload can go up to as much as 35 tonnes!

Central control unit

The central control unit of the semi low-

loader is located under the load fl oor. In this

central unit all functions are grouped together,

including the air suspension raising/lowering

function, parking brake and axle load pressure

gauge.

Shape of wheel wells Filling the wheel wells

For the transport of e.g. tracked vehicles

the wheel wells can easily be covered with

removable galvanised supports with wood inlay.

The width enlargement is integrated in these

supports. As an option, the wheel wells can also

completely be fi lled with a stack of wood.

The asymmetrical shape of the wheel wells

makes it much easier to unload the wheel

loaders from a standstill. The dimensions and

positions of the wheel wells are suitable for all

makes and types of wheel loaders and offers

optimal weight distribution between gooseneck

and axle bogie.

Storage for ramps Easy loading/unloading TÜV-certifi ed lashing rings

To minimize deadweight and maximize the

payload, this semi low-loader is equipped with

aluminium ramps for loading/unloading. These

ramps can simply be stored underneath the

beavertail of the vehicle. This trailer can also be

executed with hydraulic ramps.

The OSDS-44-03WEB has a large beavertail

with a maximum of ground clearance. This

beavertail with a slope of only 9 degrees

makes it very easy to load/unload construction

equipment. For extra-wide machines the width

of the aluminium ramps can be enlarged up to

3 metres.

To safely secure the load the semi low-loaders

are fully equipped with ‘heavy duty’ TÜV-

certifi ed lashing rings. With these lashing rings

Nooteboom has set a new world standard. They

comply with the international legal regulations

and the load can be properly secured in all

directions.

SHOTBLASTINGFor the best results, Nooteboom uses pre-shotblasted material in the production process. After construction, the chassis and components are blasted with aluminium oxide (corundum). This material is iron-free, very pure, extremely hard and ensures there is no corrosion caused by residual abrasive.

THERMAL ZINC SPRAYINGThe next phase in the conservation process is thermal spraying, where hot zinc is sprayed onto chassis and parts. In this process an alloy of zinc and aluminium is heated in a flame. The molten metal is propelled onto the surface to be treated, which is then sealed hermetically and therefore extremely corrosion-resistant.

2-LAYER PRIMERAfter thermal spraying, a primer is sprayed in 2 separate layers onto the chassis and its components. Nooteboom uses a special flexible primer which guarantees a perfect protection against road chippings.

2-LAYER PAINTChassis and components are sprayed with an environment friendly 2K top coat that is extremely hard and scratch resistant. The result is a paint coating with a high degree of gloss that will keep the trailer looking good for 10 to 12 years or longer. With our latest Promix-III paint system all popular colours are available, including metallic paint.
