3.9 Certificates
The ConCal calibration set is calibrated in thefactory (see the certificates). The referencemeasuring cell CLS 15 is precisely calibratedin accordance with the ASTM StandardD 5391-93 with the aid of a reference system. This procedure determines the cell constantand the temperature offset of the sensor, andthese are recorded in the factory calibrationcertificate.
The certificate produced individually for eachConCal system is enclosed with thecalibration set.
The factory calibration certificate thuscontains details of the calibration for themeasuring transmitter Mycom CLM 152 withcables and plugs (Enclosure 1/3), of thecalibration of the conductivity measurementtogether with the Pt 100 offset (Enclosure 2/3)and of the temperature measurements withthe Pt 100 sensor of the CLS 15 cell(Enclosure 3/3).
An example of such a certificate is shown inthe Appendix (the values may vary, depending on the system).
Note:
The values determined for yoursystem have been preset in theMycom CLM 152 in the factory!

4.3.2 Comparison measurement with bypass
For hygienic reasons, it is not always possibleto remove the measuring cell from theprocess. In such cases, a comparisonmeasurement can be made in a bypass(separate sampling line). When using thissetup, care must be taken that the watercomposition and the temperature are thesame at the process measuring point and thecomparison measuring point.
The following basic prerequisites arenecessary to ensure this:
• Short hose connections• Wait for the flow assembly to settle at the
process temperature• Set the flow rate correctly
Caution:
The temperature of the fluid at themeasuring point must be the sameas that in the process!
4.3.3 Bubble trap
In order to avoid incorrect conductivitymeasurements, the fluid must be free ofbubbles. Degassing can occur, in particular, where the pressure on the fluid is relieved, i.e.also in the bypass arrangement describedhere. This is taken into account to anincreased degree by the calibration assemblyin the ConCal set: in the bypass position ofthe calibration assembly, the secondinstallation position is used as ahydrocyclone. The water enters thistangentially, causing a turbulent flow andpermitting the bubbles to escape through thevent opening at the top. The water to bemeasured passes through a hole on the sideat the base of the cyclone to the actual
measuring chamber. Furthermore, thepressure on the water is relieved only after thecell and the rate of flow is regulated.
Note: There may be bubbles present in thelines because the air was not excluded whenthe connections were made. Venting forparallel comparison measurement can bedone in one of two ways. In the first case, large air bubbles are carried along in thewater and no separate venting is necessary. In the second case, the reference measuringcell can be unscrewed slightly to permit theair bubbles to escape. Screw it down tightagain when the escaping water is free ofbubbles.

4.3.4 Controlled conditions with flow monitoring
When carrying out calibration with the ConCalcalibration set, ASTM 5391 specifies that aminimum flow rate specified by themanufacturer of the measuring cell must bemaintained (30 l/h). For this reason, thecalibration assembly is equipped, inaccordance with the standards forconductivity calibration, with:
• a bubble trap (for bypass measurement, see above),
• a Rotameter flow monitor,• an adjusting valve for regulation of the flow.
Caution:
The screw connection for flowmonitoring may not be tightenedexcessively, since it could otherwisebreak at high temperatures.

6.2 First start-up
When the instrument is switched on for thefirst time, it is automatically in measuringmode. Since all default settings(measurement type, measuring cell with cellconstant and language) have already beenmade in the factory, the instrument can beused without making any further settings.
In order to change the basic settings of theinstrument, a start-up menu can be called,
permitting the following settings, which arenot decisive for the measurement, to bechanged:
• Menu language• Contrast• Date• Time• Unit for temperature measurement
Key sequence for changing the basic settings:
Once this menu has been called, the desiredsettings can be selected and confirmed withthe selection keys (see chapter 5.3). Thepossible settings are shown in the followinglist.
Note:
If the user has entered anauthorisation code, the “Param” levelcan be accessed only with the aid ofthis code.

6.3.2 Parallel comparison measurement
Since the reference measuring cell and theprocessing measuring cell are at the sametemperature, no temperature compensation isnecessary.
After correct connection of the flow assemblyand of the Mycom CLM 152, measurementscan be made immediately (use inlet “IN 2"and screw a plug into ”IN 1").
6.3.3 Comparison measurement with bypass
For a comparison measurement with bypass(with a separate sampling line), ensure thatboth cells are at the same temperature. This can be achieved at moderate fluidtemperatures by using a short hose(temperature difference ≤ 0,1 °C).Then measure the temperature with theConCal and calibrate the temperature sensorof the process measuring cell. After this, the conductivity measurement canbe calibrated.
If the temperatures are not identical during acomparison measurement, the compensatedconductivity must be calibrated. For E+Hinstruments, use the compensation type”ultrapure water”. Process measuringinstruments made by other companies mustbe calibrated as specified in themanufacturer’s instructions.

7 Maintenance and Service
7.1 Cleaning
For cleaning the keys and the case of theMycom CLM 152 and the case, werecommend the use of non-abrasive neutraldetergents containing tensides.
Note:
If concentrated acids or alkalis, benzyl alcohol, methylene chlorideor high-pressure steam are used forcleaning, we can accept noresponsibility for any resultingdamage.
No special cleaning is necessary for the flowassembly and the reference measuring cell, since these cannot become contaminated ifused correctly in the pure and ultrapure watersector (see chapter 3.1). If cleaning shouldnevertheless become necessary, they can berinsed with hot pure water.
7.2 Changing the fuse on the Mycom CLM 152
ConCal version:
Open the fuse holder by turning with ascrewdriver in the indicated direction(see fig. 7.1), remove the defective fuse andinsert a new fuse with the ratingM 3.15 A / 250 V.
7.3 Repair
Repairs may be carried out only in the factoryor by the Endress+Hauser serviceorganisation. A list of Endress+Hauser
service locations can be found on the rearcover of these operating instructions.
7.4 Recalibration
We recommend that you have the ConCalcalibration set recalibrated annually by E+H.You will then receive an updated factorycalibration certificate.
