Web 2.0 Tools: Some Caveats
• Follow copyright rules for sharing resources online• Be careful of teachers’/students’ “Digital Dossiers”• Pay attention to Free vs. Pro levels of service• Remember some 2.0 tools are blocked in schools
Students posting content online should:
• credit their sources,• check their facts,• admit when they
discover they have made a mistake,
• avoid harming others,• and disclose their
biases

Effective Use Of Video Learning Effective Use Of Video Learning Objects in Your ClassroomObjects in Your Classroom
Integrating Instructional Video (ITV) into Your Lesson Plans
The ProcessThe Process
• Define objective• Determine media needs
based on objective• Locate, PREVIEW, and
download media• Design lesson plan• Introduce objective to
students
• Pre-view activity to introduce media
• Instruction using media
• Post-viewing activity for extension
• Follow-up and Evaluation
Ensure students know what you expect them to learn from the media. What are they responsible for? For example:
• Prepare them to learn by using an activity to connect to prior knowledge
• Introduce a graphic organizer to help them record and analyze information they see in the media
Pre-viewing ActivityPre-viewing Activity
While viewing the media:While viewing the media:
• Do not turn off all the lights if possible. • Watch with your students. (model the
desired behavior)• Use the power of your media player to
use the media interactively• Use “Thumbs up” technique, graphic
organizers, etc. for interactive experience
Post-Viewing ActivityPost-Viewing Activity
• Follow-up the media experience
• Summarize the content
• Generate discussion
• Make students accountable for the media content
• Extend the learning and involve other modalities through kinesthetic and immersion activities
