Hi All,
As you are aware our students in Year 3, 5 and 7 have been busy taking their
NAPLAN tests this week. Our students have completed an online version of
the tests.
Unfortunately, some connectivity issues were experienced during the test.
While this isn’t ideal, please be assured we have procedures to minimise any
impact on our students. The issues we have had all occurred during the first
day of testing. National test authorities have advised they regret any
inconvenience this has caused to schools and students, and have been
working to rectify the issue. As we have had minimal disruption we do not
need to reschedule any extra tests.
Students have coped well with the test as they have had lots of practice
sessions and are now familiar with the routine. Results will be out later in the
year.
It’s that time of the year again when we all start to catch coughs and colds. If
your child is unwell please keep them at home as this will help to minimise
the spread of infection.
This week is SSO week and on behalf of the leadership team and teachers we
would like to give them a special thank you. We have a wonderful bunch of
highly dedicated SSOs at O’Sullivan Beach and what they do often goes
unnoticed, however without their hard work our jobs would be so much more
difficult.
Don’t forget tomorrow is walk safely to school day. If you live locally but
usually drive why not walk instead?
Regards,
Mandy Hackett

In Green 1 we play Explicit play is so important for healthy brain development.
In Walker Learning, students are provided with opportunities to use their creativity skills while also
developing their imagination, abilities and physical, cognitive and emotional strengths. It also provides
our students with a way to engage and interact in the world around them. Below are some photos from
our Investigation time in Walker Learning.
MOTHERS DAY STALL Mother’s Day stall was held last week. It was wonderful to see the students purchasing for the special people in their lives. A massive thank you to Eva and Simona who helped at the stall. We raised $207.50 which will go towards subsidising the cost of swimming and aquatics being held later in the year.
EXCURSIONS Thank you to the parents/caregivers who have paid for the upcoming excursions. Please make sure that all consent forms are also returned. No consent. No excursion.
HANDBALLS As per the note that was sent home this week, we ask that students do not bring handballs to school. The school has purchased handballs for the students to use at school. We thank you for your support with this.
WOOLWORTHS EARN AND LEARN Please keep collecting the stickers when you shop at Woolworths. Thanks to those who are helping our school to receive new resources. LOST PROPERTY There is a significant amount of lost property in the hallway at the Eastern door entrance. Please come and have look for anything that you have lost. Unclaimed items will be donated to local charity.
YEAR 7 TO 8 HIGH SCHOOL FORMS The packs were sent home earlier this term. Please make sure that the ED176 form included inside these packs is completed and returned to school by Friday 24th May. It is important that we have ALL forms returned.
If you have any questions or need assistance in filling out the form, please don’t hesitate to contact the front office.
