SKOOLBAG APP Our school now has our own Skoolbag iPhone and Android App to help us communicate more effectively with our parent community. We are asking parents to install the Skoolbag School App on their phones and/or tablet devices. Please see the attached page of instructions for downloading our new Skoolbag app. We will be putting out all our newsletters, permission notes and all information for parents through this app. We will be phasing out our Facebook page. Our newsletter layout has been modified to make it easier to read on the Skoolbag app.

Kindergarten Transition Our Kindergarten 2017 students have completed their transition visits for this year. The Year 1 students have been extremely attentive and supportive of their Buddies ready for next year. Kindergarten students will receive their invitations to their Best Start appointments and will all commence school on Thursday 2nd February 2017. Year 2 Transition to Maitland Public School The year 2 students who will be attending Maitland Public School have had their full day visit to Maitland. This also involved catching the bus over and back from Nillo Infants School. It was a very exciting day and all students have enjoyed the experience. Thank you to some ex Nillo students who assisted us with bus lines and protocols, Eliza Davis and Charley Hill. We were also fortunate to have a visit from Charley Hill and Andie Harvey who were able to answer questions about transitioning for our Year 2 students. We greatly appreciated it. Just a reminder, the dates and times are as follows: • Monday 5th December 12.20pm-3pm • Wednesday 7th December 12.20pm-3pm • Friday 9th December 12.20pm-3pm K-Mart Wishing Tree Our students performed beautifully at the Kmart Wishing tree opening. Once again, our students are a pleasure to take on excursions and outings because of lovely manners and exemplary behavior. They also enjoyed the Morning Tea provided by Kmart. It was lovely to see our parents enjoying the performance as well. There are some photos included in this newsletter. Schools Spectacular Our big excursion to the Schools Spectacular in Sydney is on tomorrow, Friday 25th November. We would like to leave Nillo Infants at 8.00am so please be at school by 7.45am ready to go. We expect to be back at school by 5.00pm. Please ensure your child has all food and drink requirements packed for the day, particularly water. Students will wear school uniform and will also need their hats. If you have any difficulties or concerns, please come in and let us know. Quality Teaching Observational Rounds All teachers at Nillo Infants School have been participating in Quality Teaching Instructional Rounds. This is an opportunity to teach in front of our peers and then to receive authentic feedback on the delivery of our lessons. In these lessons, we discuss the engagement of students and the content of the lesson, and the opportunities provided for students to demonstrate their deep understanding of different subjects. As professional educators, we find this experience extremely valuable and assists us in improving our teaching skills, and also recognizes skills we are using well. Year 2 Fundraiser Our new Nilympics DVD’s are once again available at $10 each. The money raised from this will be used by Year 2 to buy their farewell gift to the school. If you would like a DVD please leave your name and money with Mrs. Mortimer and we will hand deliver. Newsletter Draw Zahli Herring was the lucky winner of the free lunch from Week 5 Term 4 and will collect it in Week 8 due to no Canteen in Week 7. Remember we will be drawing this week’s winner at Assembly next Wednesday so please return your slip as soon as you have read the newsletter.
