ABOUT NIGERIA YOUTHSPEAK FORUM 2016

It is commonly said in Nigeria that "the youths are the leaders of tomorrow".By 2030, Nigeria is estimated to be one of the few countries in the world thatwill likely have a bountiful supply of young workers. Out of a current projectedpopulation of over 169 million Nigerians, young people account for over 43percent of the population. What this means is that there are currently over 72million young people in the country (*according to Nigeria Bureau of Statistics). Thus,youth, more than oil, could be Nigeria’s asset in the following decades,depending on how this demographic reality is managed.

YouthSpeak Forum is an event that takes place in multiple locations aroundthe world; bringing top young leaders together with business leaders, thoughtleaders, decision makers and experts for a conversation around pressingglobal and National issues with the aim to generate new, but most importantly,actionable ideas to that will impact the world and its future.

We make this happen by taking our participants through the unique andinteractive framework of Inspire, Engage, Act.

NIGERIA YouthSpeak Forum 2016 Theme:LEADING TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGE

We will gather over 2000 young and passionate leaders from top NigerianInstitution and over 5 countries represented in Lagos, Nigeria on March 17 to18 2016 to define forward thinking approaches and commitments to leadingNational transformational change in Nigeria in 2016.

THE CONCEPT

The 2016 theme is focused onTransformational Leadership, and theessence of leading transformationalchange. By closely assessing the Nigeria’smost pressing challenges as regardssome of the crucial Global Goals forSustainable Development, we will assessthe role of youth in making changes bycommitting to action to make a trueimpact.

Given the context of 2016, we will seekto answer the following questions:

• What kind of leadership is needed tosolve the most pressing nationalchallenges?

• What can we learn fromtransformational leaders andorganizations that have positivelydisrupted their sectors to makemassive impact and social change?

• What is the role of Nigerian youth inthe 2016 generation to leadtransformational Change?

THEMEINSPIRE

Top business and thought leaders from aroundthe world are invited to share their knowledgewith the delegates about the chosen forumtheme. This section of the event is deliveredthrough short and powerful talks and aims toinspire delegates and help to form theiropinions for the rest of the event.

ACTThe youth delegates take their learning andinsights from the day into a space where theyare able to co- create ideas and solutions withtheir peers and experts in the room. The aimis to switch their ideas into actions that eachstakeholder can take forward to contribute tothe theme of the day, resulting incommitments and projects that organizationsand stakeholders can support.
